A bolt retention assembly defines a horizontal direction, a vertical direction, and a lateral direction that is perpendicular to the vertical direction and the horizontal direction. The bolt retention assembly includes an adapter including a forward abutment portion and a rearward horizontally oriented saddle portion. The adapter may also define an interior aperture. The bolt retention assembly further includes a slide including a forward threaded portion configured to fit within the interior aperture of the adapter, and a rearward horizontally oriented pronged portion configured to pass through the rearward horizontally oriented saddle portion of the adapter.

Wear assembly

A wear assembly for use on various kinds of earth working equipment that includes a base with a supporting portion, a wear member with a cavity into which the supporting portion is received, and a lock to releasably secure the wear member to the base. The supporting portion is formed with top and bottom recesses that receive complementary projections of the wear member. These recesses and projections include aligned holes so as to receive and position the lock centrally within the wear assembly and remote from the wear surface. The hole in the wear member is defined by a wall that includes a retaining structure provided with an upper bearing surface and a lower bearing surface for contacting and retaining the lock against upward and downward movement in the hole. The lock includes a mounting component that defines a threaded opening for receiving a threaded pin that is used to releasably hold the wear member to the base. The separate mounting component can be easily manufactured and secured within the wear member for less expense and higher quality than forming the threads directly in the wear member.

Shrouds are secured to earth-working edges of many kinds of earth working equipment to extend the service life of the equipment. The shrouds include opposed surfaces to define a cavity to receive the edge. Each of the opposed surfaces includes a recess to receive a boss on the edge, wherein the longitudinal axis of the recess on the first surface is angularly oriented in a lateral direction to the longitudinal axis of the recess on the second surface.

ADAPTER AND WEAR ELEMENT WITH A PIN ARRANGED AT A LOW STRESS POINT

The invention relates to an adapter and a wear element of a shovel of an earth moving machine attached to one another by means of a pin, wherein the pin is positioned at a point such that, as there is relative rotation between the wear element and the adapter, due to the application of both a force according to direction Y applied on a point B1 and directed towards a point B2 and a force according to direction Y applied on point B2 and directed towards point B1, the support surfaces of the adapter and of the wear element contact one another before the pin is subjected to stresses. The stresses the pin must withstand are thereby reduced.

WORK IMPLEMENT ASSEMBLY USING ADAPTERS, ADAPTER COVERS, AND A NOTCHED BASE EDGE

An adapter cover includes a front face portion that defines a thru-hole configured to allow a nose portion of an adapter to pass horizontally through the thru-hole past the interior surface and then past the exterior surface, and a top single leg extends horizontally from the front face portion. The thru-hole defines a perimeter with a right side edge, a left side edge, a top edge, an upper right corner and an upper left corner, and further defines a bottom open end.

MICROTRENCHING BLADES WITH REPLACEABLE CUTTERS

A replaceable tooth assembly. A number of tooth assemblies are provided round the periphery of a microtrenching blade. The assemblies include a cartridge, usually welded to the periphery of the microtrenching blade, and a tooth, which has a projection or flange shaped to fit within a cavity formed in the cartridge. The cartridge and projection each have a transverse hole formed in them, which, when aligned, form a continuous passage for placement of a removable pin which is used to join the cartridge to the tooth body. The cartridge may also have a more radially-aligned channel which intersects the cavity, which a rubber shim may be placed in. Such a shim reduces the relative vibration between the tooth and cartridge, improving life and reducing wear.

Retention system for attaching tool bits to a blade assembly

A tool bit includes a shank portion defining a longitudinal axis, a free end, and a perimeter, at least one anti-rotation feature on the perimeter extending to the free end, and a cross-hole defining a cross-hole axis along which the cross-hole extends through the shank portion. The tool bit also including a working portion extending downwardly axially from the shank portion. The working portion includes a rear region, a front working region defining a width with a midpoint, a first side region and a second side region. The first side region and the second side region define an angle of extension measured in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The cross-hole axis pass through the width of the front working region when projected onto a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis.

A wear member includes a first leg, a second leg, and a throat portion connecting the first leg to the second leg. The first leg defines a first leg thickness, and the throat portion defines a throat portion thickness disposed adjacent to the first leg thickness. A ratio of the throat portion thickness to the first leg thickness ranges from 1.1 to 1.2.

Blank for fabricating wear member for a ground-engaging tool

A blank for fabricating a wear member for a ground-engaging tool includes a one-piece block having a boss channel and a lock bore each formed therein. The one-piece block includes a peripheral edge that projects upon lateral sides and a front end of the one-piece block, the peripheral edge originating and terminating at a back end of the block, to form a continuous welding interface that is partially perimetric of the one-piece block, for welding to a body of a wear member. The blank can be used to fabricate a variety of different wear members including shrouds, tooth tips, edge protectors, or others.

Implement ground engaging tip assembly having tip with tapered retention channel

A ground engaging tip of a ground engaging tip assembly includes an adapter that attaches to the base edge and having a forwardly extending adapter nose, and a ground engaging tip. The tip has a rear edge and a top and bottom outer surfaces. The top and bottom outer surfaces extend forward from the rear edge of the ground engaging tip and converge at a front edge of the tip. The tip includes first and second side outer surfaces extending forward from the rear edge to the front edge. Tip includes a nose cavity for receiving the adapter nose therein. The nose cavity has first and second side inner surfaces opposite the first and second side outer surfaces, respectively. The nose cavity has an aperture and a retention channel on at least one of the first and second side inner surfaces.
