Method for anal or stomal irrigation

A method for anal or stomal irrigation includes providing an irrigation system to a user and instructing the user to operate the system to expel the irrigating liquid from a catheter tip. The irrigation pressure is controlled with the control system in response to input from a sensor such that a pressure at the catheter tip approaches a predetermined threshold pressure value without exceeding the predetermined pressure value.

An extension conduit for use with a system for aspirating thrombus includes a passageway extending between a distal end and a proximal end of the extension conduit, and a combined hydraulic and electrical control carried on the extension conduit and configured to be activated by a user to activate an electric switch while opening a valve to allow flow through the passageway.

FECAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS AND METHODS

Fecal management methods and apparatuses (e.g., devices, systems, etc.) are described herein. The fecal management apparatuses may apply one or more fecal removal cycles of suction and irrigation (and in some examples air) to actively remove fecal material. The apparatus may control the timing of delivery of the fecal removal cycles as well as the parameters of the applied suction, irrigation and/or air within and between fecal removal cycles. The invention additionally provides methods, and computer program products for controlling an apparatus or system that is configured for removal of fecal material from a patient's rectum.

FLUID MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

A fluid management system may include an inflow pump providing a fluid inflow to a medical device, at least one pressure sensor, and a controller configured to receive pressure signals from the at least one pressure sensor, the pressure signals corresponding to a system pressure within the fluid management system. The controller may be configured to detect which one of a plurality of medical devices is fluidly connected to the inflow pump based on the pressure signals from the at least one pressure sensor and an rpm of the inflow pump.

Trans anal irrigation platform with bed module

A trans anal irrigation device that can be used on a bed. The device includes a rectal catheter connected to an irrigation fluid supply. A waste collection bag is also connected to the catheter. The catheter may be insertable in a seat attached to a fluid supply line. A valve in one of the catheter or seat selectably allows or prevents fluid communication between the catheter and a waste collection bag. The catheter may include an inflationless cuff made of a flexible material that permits it to be inserted in the rectum to prevent leakage around the exterior of the catheter.

A wound therapy system includes a dressing sealable over a wound and defining a wound space between the dressing and the wound, tubing fluidly communicable with the wound space, and a canister fluidly communicable with the tubing. The canister, the tubing, and the dressing define a sealed space that includes the wound space. The wound therapy system also includes a therapy unit coupled to the canister. The therapy unit includes a sensor configured to measure a pressure in the sealed space, a valve positioned between the sealed space and a surrounding environment and controllable between an open position and a closed position, and a control circuit. The control circuit is configured to control the valve to alternate between the open position and the closed position to allow airflow through the valve, receive measurements from the sensor, and determine a volume of the wound space based on the measurements.

OPHTHALMIC SURGICAL CARTRIDGE

An ophthalmic surgical cartridge has a fluid pump with a pump chamber and a drive chamber which are separated by a fluid-tight and ion-tight partition element. A body fluid is suppliable to the pump chamber and a drive fluid is suppliable to the drive chamber. A deformation or change in position of a portion of the partition element is achievable with the drive fluid which increases the second volume in size and decreases the first volume in size to drain the body fluid from the pump chamber. The drive chamber has a front side wall with an edge zone in which only a single passage opening is provided, through which the drive fluid is suppliable into the drive chamber to fill the drive chamber with the drive fluid, and through which said drive fluid can be drained from the drive chamber to remove the drive fluid from the drive chamber.

EVALUATION OF PHACOEMULSIFICATION DEVICES

A phacoemulsification simulation apparatus includes a trigger device, at least two sensors, and a processor. The trigger device configured to apply, to fluid at an inlet of a needle of a phacoemulsifier, a pressure profile as a function of time in response to an input waveform. The at least two sensors are configured to measure a pressure of the fluid at respective points in the phacoemulsification simulation apparatus. The processor is configured to (a) drive the trigger device with the input waveform, thereby causing the trigger device to apply the pressure profile to the inlet while the fluid is aspirated via an aspiration line, (b) receive measurements of the pressure of the fluid from the at least two sensors, and (c) analyze an aspiration performance of the phacoemulsifier in response to the measurements.

A medical probe includes a probe body shaped to define a distal section of a fluid channel, a cartridge, which is shaped to define a proximal section of the fluid channel and comprises a valve configured to regulate flow of a fluid through the proximal section of the fluid channel, and a clip configured to reversibly couple the cartridge with the probe body by sliding over the probe body and the cartridge while the cartridge contacts the probe body such that the proximal section of the fluid channel is in fluidic communication with the distal section of the fluid channel. Other embodiments are also described.
