The control device is configured to control the first valve and to control the second valve to actuate the first and second actuators to move the tong assembly.
Adjustable Breakout Wrench for Blasthole Drill Rods of Different Diameters
Adjustable Breakout Wrench for Blasthole Drill Rods of Different Diameters that works through an automatic sequence of movements, which are approaches (turns), bar tightening, and exponential torque combined with pressure from two hydraulic cylinders, which act with built-in sequential valve regulation, as well as automatic adjustment that considers the wear in the external diameter of the rod. This tool, which has the general shape of an alligator wrench, can be mounted on drilling machines. It is designed to loose threaded rod joints of different diameters. For this purpose, it provides a practical and quick exchange of Jaw Kits, which have the preconceived dimensions to efficiently tighten each rod measure. This tool is efficient, practical, easy to maintain and above all versatile so that it can operate in drilling production with different diameters of rods, only making simple changes of components without disassembling the wrench from its support.
Compensation system for a tong assembly
A method of making a connection between a first tubular and a second tubular includes gripping the first tubular using a power tong; gripping the second tubular using a backup tong; applying a torque to the first tubular using a power tong; and moving the power tong at a predetermined speed to compensate for a weight of the power tong.
Wrench for breaking internal connections
There is provided a wrench for a workpiece having a wrench head with a fixed jaw element and an adjustable jaw element opposite the fixed jaw element, the fixed jaw element and the adjustable jaw element defining a workpiece engagement area that receives and engages the workpiece. The fixed jaw element and the adjustable jaw element are connected by a pin and slot connection that permits movement of the adjustable jaw element relative to the fixed jaw element to adjust the size of the workpiece engagement area. A removable die is provided that engages the slot to restrict the movement of the pin along the slot and define a maximum size of the workpiece engagement area. An articulated actuator actuates the wrench head to apply torque to the workpiece.
POWER TONG
A power tong includes a lower tong and an upper tong, each with multiple grippers distributed around a tubular passage, for gripping a lower tubular and ripping an upper tubular respectively. A torque actuator includes a first hydraulic drive and a second hydraulic drive, for rotating the upper tong relative to the lower tong. The first hydraulic drive and the second hydraulic drive each have a drive shaft that supports a guide wheel for cooperating with a guide track, and a pinion for cooperating with a rack, which guide wheel and pinion are concentrically, mounted on the drive shaft of the hydraulic drive. The hydraulic drives are mounted with the drive shafts parallel to the main axis, and the upper tong or the lower tong comprises a guide track receiving the guide wheel and a rack cooperating with the pinion.
Torque wrench system having multiple torque stations
An improved multi-bolt and nut torque wrench for installing and removing bolts or nuts from flanged joints or the like which includes a plurality of torque stations having a plurality of high torque wrenches for engaging the heads of the bolts or nuts during a high torque phase of removal or installation; a plurality of low-torque motors operatively engaged with the wrenches for rotating the bolts or nuts during the low torque phase of removal or installation; a source of hydraulic fluid for driving the low-torque motors during the low-torque phase, and driving the high-torque wrenches during the high torque phase; and a mechanism for switching between the two phases depending on the torque needed.
DIFFERENTIAL IRON ROUGHNECK
A differential iron roughneck for making or breaking a pipe connection includes: at least one first gripping cylinder for delivering torque to a first pipe; at least one second gripping cylinder for delivering and receiving torque to and from a second pipe; and a differential gearbox including: a primary shaft delivering torque to the at least one first gripping cylinder; and a secondary shaft receiving torque from the at least one second gripping cylinder, where the primary shaft and the secondary shaft rotate at different speeds.
WRENCH FOR USE WITH MAKING AND BREAKING A DRILL STRING
Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a wrench for loosening or tightening a threaded joint of two drill-string components. The wrench is mountable on a drill assembly. The wrench comprises: a jaw assembly with opposing jaws for engaging the drill-string component therebetween; a first actuator for actuating the pair of opposing jaws between an engaged position and a disengaged position; a second actuator configured to pivot the jaw assembly and configured for applying a torque when engaged with the drill-string component; a third actuator configured to extend and retract the jaw assembly in a first plane substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the drill assembly when the wrench is mounted on the drill assembly; and a fourth actuator for actuating the wrench in a second plane substantially perpendicular to the first plane. Embodiments of the present disclosure also relate to drilling systems comprising the wrench.
