The method includes the steps of: a) providing each of the downhole tools with a control unit (20) comprising a timer which permits fluid communication between the at least one hydraulic fluid line and the downhole tool during a window of time; and b) controlling the pressure in the at least one hydraulic fluid line for at least a sufficient period of time required to at least actuate the said downhole tool, wherein the said sufficient period of time coincides at least partially with the said window of time. A control unit for operating one or more than one of a plurality of downhole tools connected to at least one hydraulic fluid line is also disclosed as including a timer associated with each of the one or more downhole tools, the timer permitting hydraulic fluid to communicate with the respective downhole tool if supplied via the at least one hydraulic fluid line during a window of time. A timer apparatus for use in downhole wellbore for permitting controlled activation of a downhole tool at a point in time is also disclosed as including a valve associated with an energy storage mechanism and which is arranged to move the valve when the energy is released to actuate the downhole tool. A system of downhole tools is also disclosed as including two or more downhole tools, at least one hydraulic fluid line, wherein each of the two or more downhole tools is connected to the at least one hydraulic fluid line and at least one control unit comprising at least one timer, wherein each of the one or more downhole tools is connected to a timer, said timer permitting hydraulic fluid to communicate with the respective downhole tool. A method of controlling flow downhole in a wellbore is also disclosed.
METHOD AND STIMULATION SLEEVE FOR WELL COMPLETION IN A SUBTERRANEAN WELLBORE
Stimulation sleeve (1) for well intervention in a subterranean wellbore, comprising: a housing (10) having a through channel (11) with a first end (11a) and a second end (11b), and one or more flow ports (14), and a sliding sleeve (13) disposed axially movable within the housing (10) to open or close said flow ports (14). Said sliding sleeve (13) is equipped with at least a first obturator seat (15) for receipt of a obturator (17) to partially or fully close fluid communication in the through channel (11) of the housing (10), and a time delay mechanism (20) to allow the sliding sleeve (13) to axially travel in the housing (10) at a predetermined speed to open or close said flow ports (14). The invention also discloses a method for well completion in a subterranean wellbore using a sliding sleeve (1).
Multi-Cycle Counter System
The present disclosed technology relates to a downhole tool activation device, and a method of using the device, where the valve is configured to open when the counter device has moved an activation distance in an activation direction, a piston engaged with the counter device, having a wellbore pressure from a fluid source applied to a first side, and a pressure in a fluid reservoir applied to the second side, the piston configured to move a step distance in a first direction when the wellbore pressure exceeds the pressure in the fluid reservoir, and configured to move a step distance in an opposite direction driven solely by a greater pressure in the fluid reservoir than the wellbore pressure, and a flow restrictor in fluid communication with the fluid reservoir and fluid source, configured to restrict the flow of fluid between the fluid source to the fluid reservoir.
Method and apparatus for smooth bore toe valve
A smooth bore toe valve includes a first sub defining a through bore and a fluid flow path through a wall thereof; a second sub; a housing mechanically engaged with the first and second subs to define a valve cavity axially between the first and second subs and to define a chamber radially between the first and second subs and the housing, the housing further defining a plurality of openings in a wall thereof; and a sleeve disposed within the chamber between the housing and the first and second subs to close the openings and, upon application of fluid pressure horn the through bore through the fluid flow path, open the openings to fluid flow from the valve cavity to the exterior of the housing. A method for using such a valve is also disclosed.
Hydraulic delay toe valve system and method
An apparatus and method for providing a time delay in injection of pressured fluid into a geologic formation. In one aspect the invention is a toe valve activated by fluid pressure that opens ports after a predetermined time interval to allow fluid to pass from a well casing to a formation. The controlled time delay enables casing integrity testing before fluid is passed through the ports. This time delay also allows multiple valves to be used in the same well casing and provide a focused jetting action to better penetrate a concrete casing lining.
