Systems and methods for dispersion of dry powders
Systems and methods for preparing and dispersing dry powders are disclosed herein. The system includes a powder feeder, a rotating holder or disc configured to receive an input powder from the powder feeder, and one or more ultrasonic transducers. The ultrasonic transducer is configured to create standing waves, which suspend the input powder within a space above the rotating holder disc for collection and subsequent processing and/or use. Also disclosed herein is an adapter configured to fit existing off-the-shelf powder dispensers that includes an ultrasonic transducer configured to suspend an input powder in midair for collection.
NEBULIZER DISINFECTING SYSTEM AND METHOD OF USE
Devices and methods for reducing the amount of contagions, such as germs, from the exhaled air stream of a nebulizer are provided. Specifically, a nebulizer is provided with a disinfecting chamber in communication with the exhaled air outfeed of a nebulizer that reduces the amount of contagions exiting the outfeed to the environment. An example of such a disinfecting chamber is one that employs a UVC light source.
VAPORIZER OVENS, VAPORIZERS, AND RELATED METHODS
Vaporizer ovens and related vaporizers are provided. The vaporizer oven can comprise a body comprising a vaporizing chamber with an opening and a removable closure member that can engage the body to close the opening. The body can comprise a first locking component and the closure member can comprise a second locking component that interlocks with the first locking component. In some embodiments, a biasing element can be disposed in one of the body or the closure member to exert a biasing force to maintain the closure member in a locked position. A related vaporizer can comprise a housing that receives the vaporizer oven. Related methods for making a vaporizer oven and a vaporizer are also provided.
COLLAPSIBLE INHALER SPACER
A collapsible spacer for use with a metered-dose-inhaler (MDI) medicament cartridge the spacer being movable between an expanded configuration for operation of the spacer and a collapsed configuration for transport or storage of the spacer. The spacer includes: an internal chamber for receiving a medicament dose when the spacer is in the expanded configuration and a cartridge dock for, in use, engaging with an MDI cartridge and permitting delivery of a medicament dose from the MDI cartridge to the internal chamber. The spacer further includes a mouthpiece permitting inhalation of a medicament dose from the internal chamber and a storage volume configured to accommodate the cartridge dock and an MDI cartridge. The cartridge dock is retractable into the storage volume in a retraction direction to store the MDI cartridge within the storage volume whilst maintaining engagement between the MDI cartridge and the cartridge dock. The cartridge dock is configured to receive and engage with the MDI cartridge in a cartridge orientation that is not aligned with the retraction direction.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF AEROSOL DELIVERY WITH AIRFLOW REGULATION
An example aerosol delivery device includes a mouthpiece having an airflow outlet, and an airflow passage extending between an airflow inlet and the airflow outlet. The example aerosol delivery device further includes a housing configured to receive a cartridge that includes an aerosolizable substance and a vapor element configured to heat the aerosolizable substance, and an internal power source configured to provide electrical power. The example aerosol delivery device further includes a controller coupled to the internal power source to receive a portion of the electrical power and configured to, when the cartridge is installed at the housing, cause the vapor element of the cartridge to heat the aerosolizable substance to release an aerosol into the airflow passage during an inhalation through the airflow outlet, and a connector configured to receive power from an external source to recharge the internal power source.
NEBULIZER AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A NEBULIZER
The invention relates to a nebulizer comprising an aerosol generator, a nebulizing chamber and an outlet, the aerosol generator being designed to release an aerosol into the nebulizing chamber and the outlet being designed to allow the removal of the aerosol from the nebulizing chamber. To achieve a high output rate, a wetting surface is provided in the nebulizing chamber.
Humidifier and respiratory assistance device
A humidifier that can easily control temperature and humidity in an independent manner, irrespective of a flow rate of medical gas to be supplied, is provided. The humidifier is connected to a respiratory assistance device configured to regulate or assist ventilation of a user. The humidifier is configured to add moisture to gas fed from a gas source in the form of fine particles or water vapor. The humidifier includes a liquid container configured to contain liquid containing at least water, a mist-droplet generation unit configured to generate mist droplets being fine particles of the liquid, and a water retaining member configured to hold at least a part of the mist droplets.
AEROSOL SUPPLY DEVICE
An aerosol supply device includes: an accommodating part (cartridge) configured to accommodate a liquid; an atomization unit having a storing part to store the liquid, the atomization unit being configured to generate an aerosol by atomizing the liquid; and a temperature control part configured to control the temperature of the liquid at a given location between the accommodating part (cartridge) and the storing part.
Intranasal delivery of dihydroergotamine by precision olfactory device
Methods are provided for acutely treating migraine headache with or without aura. The methods comprise administering to a subject with migraine headache an effective dose of a liquid pharmaceutical composition comprising dihydroergotamine (DHE) or a salt thereof, wherein the dose is administered by an intranasal delivery device that provides, following intranasal administration, (a) a mean peak plasma DHE concentration (C.sub.max) of at least 750 pg/ml, (b) with a mean time to C.sub.max (T.sub.max) of DHE of less than 45 minutes, and (c) a mean plasma AUC.sub.0-inf of DHE of at least 2500 pg*hr/ml. Also provided are kits for acutely treating migraine with or without aura in which a liquid pharmaceutical composition comprising DHE or DHE salt is contained within a sealed vial that is attachable to a precision intranasal olfactory delivery device packaged therewith.
Dose delivery device for inhalation
Methods and devices for delivering a dose, such as a medicament, for inhalation. A dose may be stored by a delivery device and dispersed and delivered in a metered fashion to a subject, such as by the subject inhaling via a mouthpiece of the delivery device. One or more chambers of the device may have a toroidal shape and may be arranged to be selectively opened for fluid communication with a flow path of the delivery device, such as by sliding the chamber relative to a portion of the flow path. The flow path may include a restriction that permits air to bypass the chamber, and/or the chamber may be arranged so that fluid entering the chamber interacts with fluid exiting the chamber so as to enhance dispersion of the dose.
