Counterbalance system for tilt-in window having a shielded brake shoe structure
10415287 · 2019-09-17 · ·

A counterbalance system for a window sash that engages a guide track in a vinyl tilt-in window. At least one ribbon spring coil is used to create the counterbalance force. The ribbon spring coils are held in a brake shoe chassis that travels within the guide track of the window. A first protective barrier is attached to the brake shoe chassis. The first protective barrier travels externally of the guide track and shields the slot opening adjacent the spring placement area. A second protective barrier is attached to the brake shoe chassis inside the guide track. The second protective barrier shields the spring placements areas from contamination within the guide track. A brake mechanism is also attached to the brake shoe chassis. The brake mechanism uses a cam to spread arms against the side walls of the guide track when the window sash is tilted. This provides contact against three inside walls of the guide track, therein creating a lock.

Food dehydrator with pivoting, sliding door

A food dehydrator comprises a housing and a door slidably and pivotably affixed to the housing. The housing defines a food cavity and has an opening defined in the housing to enable access to the food cavity. The housing comprises opposing top and bottom walls, a back wall opposite the opening, and opposing side walls. The door is selectively movable between a closed position closing off the opening thereby blocking access to the food cavity and an open position enabling access to the food cavity. The door, when in the open position, may rest on the top wall.

Snap lock balance shoe and system for a pivotable window

A snap lock balance shoe of a balance system may be incorporated in pivotable double hung windows. In one embodiment, the snap lock balance shoe includes a pair of retractable tabs that partially extend through openings within an inverted window balance channel. The shoe includes a locking member that extends toward a window jamb when a cam of the shoe is rotated. This extension locks the balance system in place in the window jamb.

Breakaway sash lug for hung windows

A breakaway sash lug assembly for a hung window includes a sash mount seat attachable to a window sash and a lug body rigidly attached to the sash mount seat via a releasable coupling that is configured to release at least one side of the lug body from the sash mount seat upon application a relatively small external force on the lug body. The releasable coupling may inhibit damage from inadvertent contact between the lug body and other portions of the hung window, for example during tilting of the sash for cleaning. The releasable coupling may include a hinge and a latch and/or a snap attachment.

Window tilt latch system

A tilt latch system that comprises an actuator movable from a first position to a second position; a lock-out member movable from a retracted position to an extended position upon movement of the actuator from the first position to the second position; and an engagement member movable from an engaged position to a disengaged position upon movement of the actuator from the first position to the second position is provided. The actuator and the engagement member are maintained in the second and disengaged positions, respectively, when the lock-out member is in the extended position. The actuator and the engagement member are automatically biased to the first position and the engaged position, respectively, upon movement of the lock-out member from the extended to the retracted position.
