Brake disk and method of making same
A brake disk or drum has at least one working surface which opposes a braking member such as a brake pad or shoe. A plurality of spaced, raised island formations are provided across the working surface, with channels extending between the island formations. Each raised island formation has an outer surface which contacts a brake pad or brake shoe during braking.
CALIPER BODY OF A CALIPER FOR DISC BRAKE
A caliper body of a caliper for a disc brake adapted to be arranged astride a disc of the disc brake associable with the caliper having opposite braking surfaces. The caliper body may have two opposite elongated portions, each adapted to face one of the two opposite braking surfaces of the disc of disc brake. The two opposite elongated portions are connected to each other by at least one caliper bridge. At least one of the two opposite elongated portions may have seat walls which delimit at least one seat, adapted to house at least one portion of a thrusting element. The thrusting element may be adapted to determine a thrusting action against at least one brake pad associable with the caliper body to press the at least one brake pad against one of the two opposite braking surfaces. The seat walls may have at least one seat bottom wall, in which the axial thickness of the seat bottom wall is less than 5 mm.
BRAKE CARRIER AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE
A brake carrier and a method of manufacture. The brake carrier may have leading and trailing brake pad abutments. The leading brake pad abutment may have an unmachined leading wall surface and an unmachined leading floor surface. The trailing brake pad abutment may have a trailing wall surface and a trailing floor surface, at least one of which may be machined.
BRAKE DISK AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME
Disclosed are a brake disk and a method for manufacturing the same. In particular, the brake disk may include a friction surface formed of cast iron, and the friction surface of the brake disk is divided into a plurality of sections in a circumferential direction. Preferably, an average of the numbers per unit area of eutectic cells formed on surfaces of the sections may not be greater than 300 ea/cm.sup.2.
MACHINING DEVICE AND MACHINING METHOD
To provide a machining device and a machining method that can achieve a reduction in a machining time of grooves of a workpiece including grooves having different torsion angles. A machining device includes a control device configured to use a machining tool having a rotation axis, an intersection angle of which can be changed with respect to a rotation axis of a workpiece, and cut a peripheral surface of the workpiece by feeding the machining tool relatively in a direction of the rotation axis of the workpiece while rotating the machining tool synchronously with the workpiece. The peripheral surface of the workpiece includes at least two grooves having torsion angles different from each other. The control device changes the intersection angle based on the torsion angles to respectively cut the at least two grooves.
Dual clutch
The invention relates to a duplex clutch for coupling a drive shaft of a motor vehicle engine to a first transmission input shaft and/or a second transmission input shaft of a motor vehicle transmission, including a first partial clutch for coupling the drive shaft to the first transmission input shaft. A second partial clutch couples the drive shaft to the second transmission input shaft. A first actuating cup displaces a first compression plate of the first partial clutch and a second actuating cup displaces a second compression plate of the second partial clutch.
CERAMIC PREFORM AND METHOD
The present application discloses a ceramic preform, a method of making a ceramic preform, a MMC comprising a ceramic preform, and a method of making a MMC. The method of making a ceramic preform generally comprises preparing reinforcing fibers, preparing a ceramic compound, and forming the compound into a desired shape to create the ceramic preform. In certain embodiments, the ceramic compound is formed as either a disc or a ring for use in a brake disc metal matrix composite. The metal matrix composite generally comprises the ceramic preform infiltrated with a molten metal to form the brake disc metal matrix composite. The method of making the metal matrix composite generally comprises heating the ceramic preform, placing the ceramic preform in a mold cavity of a die cast mold, and introducing molten metal into the mold cavity to infiltrate the ceramic preform to form the brake disc metal matrix composite.
CLUTCH ASSEMBLY, KIT, AND METHOD
Clutch kits and methods for converting a stock clutch assembly and the clutch assemblies resulting therefrom. Such a method entails modifying a stock clutch assembly comprising a stock drum and stock friction and driving plates installed in an interior cavity of the drum. The method includes securing a pressure plate to the drum with threads to enclose stock or modified friction and driving plates within the interior cavity of the drum. The pressure plate can be configured to axially externally extend the interior cavity of the drum so that additional friction and/or driving plates may accommodated within the interior cavity.
Friction clutch with a cover made from sheet metal with folded anti-friction bearing seats, transmission arrangement and production method
A friction clutch for a drive train of a motor vehicle includes a cover. The cover is a deep drawn sheet metal component having a contour with folds. The folds form an inner bearing seat for receiving an inner anti-friction bearing for mounting a shaft or an outer bearing seat for receiving an outer anti-friction bearing for mounting the friction clutch in a transmission housing. The folds may include radial folds. The contour may be sinusoidal in a circumferential direction.
