Process for repairing a worn carburized steel surface of a sprag clutch
A method of repairing a worn carburized surface on a sprag clutch comprising the steps of: grinding the worn carburized surface of the sprag clutch to prepare the surface for metallurgical bonding; place the worn carburized surface in a PVD Cathodic Arc chamber; preheat the worn carburized surface to remove moisture and provide for a good metallurgical bonding surface; reverse sputter clean the surface to remove any surface oxide; apply a first coating layer using the PVD process to a maximum thickness; change the coating macro topology by polishing the coated surface; apply a second coating layer using the PVD process to a maximum thickness; and, grind or polish the coating to a desired dimension.

Preferably, an average of the numbers per unit area of eutectic cells formed on surfaces of the sections may not be greater than 300 ea/cm.sup.2.
Method for machining a functional part
A method for working a functional part, which extends in a longitudinal direction and has a lateral surface that surrounds a longitudinal central axis of the functional part running in the longitudinal direction and has an end face bounding the functional part at a free end in the axial direction, may involve pressing a punch that can be moved in the longitudinal direction of the functional part against the end face of the functional part, while the functional part is initially located in a cavity of a tool, at least over a partial portion of its longitudinal extent that adjoins its free end, which cavity is bounded in the radial direction with respect to the longitudinal central axis by a wall surface surrounding the lateral surface and lying at least partially against the lateral surface, and pulling off the tool from the functional part over the free end of the functional part over a pulling-off travel, while the punch remains pressed against the end face of the functional part, at least over a partial travel of the pulling-off travel of the tool from the functional part. A material flow of material of the functional part is brought about by the tool during the pulling-off of the tool from the functional part.
Solid Type Brake Disc and Manufacturing Method of the Same
A solid type brake disc includes a hat part that includes a circular body that is fitted on a rotary shaft of a wheel and a plurality of hollow protrusions that are formed around the outer surface of the body and each have an internal space. The solid type brake disc also includes a friction part that includes a ring body that has a center hole and receives the hat part in the center hole and projections that protrude toward the hollow protrusions and are inserted in the internal spaces to be covered with the hollow protrusions.
Anchor Bracket For Use In A Disc Brake Assembly, Disc Brake Assembly Including Such An Anchor Bracket And Method For Producing Such An Anchor Bracket
An anchor bracket for use in a disc brake assembly comprises first and second arms, first and second windows, and first and second rotor channels. The first arm has a first rotor notch and the second arm has a second rotor notch. The first window is cast in the first arm and the second window is cast in the second arm. The first rotor channel is machined from the first rotor notch to the first window and the second rotor channel is machined from the second rotor notch to the second window.
Method to produce high corrosion and wear resistant cast iron components by water jet surface activation, nitrocarburization and thermal spray coating
The invention relates to a method of producing a corrosion resistant coating system on a cast iron substrate preferably in the shape of a brake disc, the coating system being completed by a thermally sprayed top layer, characterised in that the cast iron substrate is first subjected to activation by means of a pulsed water jet after completion of machining which increases the surface roughness of the surface thus treated, whereupon the surface is nitrocarburized so that a corresponding diffusion layer is formed on it, whereupon the surface is subjected to an oxidation process in a next step and only then the top layer is applied by thermal spraying.
APPARATUS EMPLOYING SHEAR FORCES TO TRANSMIT ENERGY HAVING FLOW ALTERING STRUCTURES CONFIGURED TO INCREASE HEAT REJECTION FROM A WORKING FLUID AND RELATED METHOD
A device that employs shear forces to transmit energy includes an outer housing assembly, a disk, and a reservoir with a working fluid. The disk is received in and rotatable relative to the outer housing assembly. A working cavity is formed between a rotor portion of the disk and the outer housing assembly into which the working fluid is received to create shear forces. A plurality of flow altering structures are disposed on the outer housing assembly and are configured to reduce a thickness of a boundary layer of the working fluid in the working cavity in areas that are local to the flow altering structures.
SHEET METAL PRESSURE PLATE AND PRESSURE POT AS JOINT COMPONENT
The invention relates to a clutch for a motor vehicle, having a pressure plate which is set up to clamp a torque transmission member, such as a disk or friction disk, together with a counterpressure plate, wherein a force transmission path is provided between an actuating unit via a pressure transmission member, wherein the pressure transmission member is configured as an integral part of the pressure plate. The invention also relates to a method for producing a pressure plate for a clutch, wherein the pressure plate is formed with an integrated pressure transmission member from a sheet metal plate via a chipless forming process.
Brake disc and method for treating the surface of a brake disc
A method is used to treat a surface of a brake disc to increase the adhesive power of a coating to the surface. The method includes roughening the surface by introducing at least one depression in the surface. The width of the depression is widened with increasing depth of the depression. A positive connection is formed between the brake disc and the coating via an undercut.
