TIRE SENSOR MOUNTING ASSEMBLY, VEHICLE WHEEL BALANCER, COMBINATION TIRE SENSOR MOUNTING ASSEMBLY AND WHEEL BALANCER, METHOD FOR MOUNTING A TIRE SENSOR TO A VEHICLE PART, AND METHOD FOR BALANCING A VEHICLE WHEEL
A combination vehicle tire sensor assembly and in-tire wheel balancer is adapted for residing inside a pneumatic tire mounted on a wheel rim of a motor vehicle. The combination comprises a flexible mounting cable secured to the sensor assembly, and adapted for extending circumferentially within an annular space formed between the tire and wheel rim. A counterweight is secured to the mounting cable inside the pneumatic tire a spaced distance from the sensor assembly. A substantially hollow balancer belt resides inside the pneumatic tire adjacent the sensor assembly and counterweight, and defines a circumferentially-extending exterior groove designed for receiving and locating said mounting cable, and a circumferentially-extending interior cavity adapted for loosely containing a wheel-balancing medium.
DEVICE FOR SECURING BALANCING WEIGHTS TO A SHAFT
A shaft balancing device for insertion into a shaft including a generally flat cylindrical band having an outer surface, an inner surface and a set of two crush points thereon. A balancing weight is attached to the outer surface of the band between the set of crush points. The device is inserted into the shaft and the crush points are plastically deformed radially outward creating spring force which holds the balancing weight to the inner surface of the shaft. The band has a curved connecting portion between the two crush points having a radius of curvature slightly greater than the curvature of the shaft. The balancing weight has a radius of curvature slightly greater than the radius of curvature of the curved connecting portion and slightly less than the radius of curvature of the shaft.
ROTOR BALANCING
A procedure defining a balancing strategy includes: providing a computer model which predicts the vibration amplitude at a given axial position along the spool when the spool is rotated at a given rotational speed; using the model to predict respective vibration amplitudes at the given axial position for different axial positions of a unit unbalance applied to the spool; plotting the predicted vibration amplitudes as data points on a graph of vibration amplitude against axial position of the applied unit unbalance; using the graph to identify axial positions which are more or less likely to contribute to flexing of the spool at the given rotational speed when mass is added or removed from the first rotor module to reduce imbalances at the axial positions; and defining a balancing strategy based on the identification.
ACCESSORY ATTACHMENT FOR RANDOM-ORBITAL SANDER
An assembly for attachment of an accessory to a random-orbital sander is disclosed comprising a drive spindle, a support plate, one or more drive members located on and protruding from either of both of the drive spindle and/or the support plate, and one or more drive sockets corresponding to the one or more drive members. The one or more drive sockets are located on either or both of the drive spindle and/or the support plate. An attachment member adapted to protrude through an attachment aperture to fix the support plate and drive spindle against axial movement. One or more of the drive members seats within a corresponding drive socket to fix the drive spindle and support plate against relative rotational movement. One or more tuning members are positioned between the drive spindle and the support plate to space the support plate from the drive spindle a predetermined distance. A method of assembling a corresponding accessory to a random orbital sander and a method of balancing vibration in a random orbital sander by means of one or more tuning members are also disclosed.
BALANCING DEVICE FOR ROTATING PIECES
A balancing device for each rotating piece, the rotating piece defining an axis of rotation, the balancing device including: a fixed portion, a mobile portion defining a central axis. The balancing device constrained to the rotating piece so that the central axis substantially coincides with the rotation axis. The balancing device including at least one eccentric mass, rotatable around the central axis and not balanced with respect to the central axis. The balancing device further including apparatus for movement of the eccentric masses, including a magnetic brake and being able to rotate the eccentric masses, with respect to the rotating piece around the central axis.
VIBRATION-DAMPING SYSTEM FOR TURBOMACHINE BLADE(S) ON SPACER ADJACENT BLADE STAGE
A vibration-damping system for turbomachine blade(s) in a turbomachine is provided. Each turbomachine blade includes a platform having a radially inner surface. The system includes a spacer axially adjacent the platform of at least one turbomachine blade in the turbomachine, e.g., adjacent a turbomachine blade stage. The spacer includes a body. A damping element coupler is on the body of the spacer, and a vibration-damping element is configured to couple to the damping element coupler. The vibration-damping element and the damping element coupler are disposed to cause the vibration-damping element to engage the radially inner surface of the platform of the turbomachine blade(s) to dampen vibration of the turbomachine blade(s), e.g., during operation of the turbomachine.
