PREDICTIVE TACHOMETER PROFILE GENERATION DURING TRANSMISSION SHIFT EVENTS
Methods and systems are provided for generating a predictive tachometer profile at a tachometer of a vehicle. When an inertia phase of a transmission shift event is determined to be in progress, the predictive tachometer profile can be computed based on: a computed shift completion percentage; a difference between the current attained gear speed and the commanded gear speed; and a commanded engine torque that is determined based on the accelerator pedal position and the vehicle speed. The predictive tachometer profile can then be displayed at the tachometer. The predictive tachometer profile accounts for delays in a signal path between an engine speed sensor and the tachometer.

Vehicle control system
A vehicle control system is provided to improve energy efficiency of a vehicle that can be operated not only manually but also autonomously. The vehicle control system is configured to deliver oil to an oil requiring site in a first feeding amount under the manual mode, and to deliver oil to the oil requiring site in a second feeding amount that is smaller than the first feeding amount during propulsion under the autonomous mode in line with a travel plan. When a required amount of oil delivered to the oil requiring site is expected to be increased based on the travel plan under the autonomous mode, the controller increases an oil feeding amount to the oil requiring site from the second feeding amount.
System and method to improve engagement shift quality in automatic transmissions using engagement brake torque control
A method of controlling a vehicle includes, in response to vehicle speed being approximately zero and a driver braking torque request being greater than a park interlock threshold, commanding vehicle brakes to provide an augmented braking torque. The augmented braking torque has a magnitude that is greater than the magnitude of the braking torque request. The braking torque returns to the level of the driver braking torque request following completion of a gear shift event.

Vehicle acoustic apparatus, and methods of use and manufacture thereof
Some embodiments are directed to a control system for a sound controller configured to transmit sounds to a vehicle passenger cabin. The system includes a downshift sensor configured to detect a downshift of a vehicle transmission, and an accelerator pedal sensor that is configured to detect whether an accelerator pedal is actuated above a predetermined threshold. A controller controls operation of the sound controller in accordance with a sound control logic that is based on vehicle engine mode, transmission gear selection, accelerator pedal position, and vehicle engine speed. The controller also controls operation of the sound controller in accordance with an audible downshift logic if the downshift sensor detects a downshift of the vehicle transmission and the accelerator pedal sensor detects that the accelerator pedal is not actuated above the predetermined threshold, the audible downshift logic controlling the sound controller to enhance engine sound transmitted to the passenger cabin.
