Additional support components include a power supply, its fuel source, a speed control mechanism for the air mover, an air mover inlet protective screen, a sparger unit to impart suppressant or retardant into the airstream, balancing feet, a removable nozzle, and instrumentation and controls to ensure function and safety of equipment and personnel. This device can be on a static or mobile platform, towed or self-propelled and can be locally or remotely controlled.

User configurable long-range fire-fighting apparatus

There is described a fire-fighting apparatus comprising a housing comprising an upstream air inlet and a downstream fire-extinguishing stream outlet and a hollow body therebetween, wherein the housing houses an air stream traveling at high velocity; and a spray assembly concentrically mounted to the housing. The spray assembly comprises a fluid inlet connected to a source of fluid outside the housing; and a plurality of injecting assemblies fluidly connected to the fluid inlet and designed for breaking down an inflow of the fluid into droplets and projecting the droplets of the fluid within the air stream in a multiphase fire-extinguishing stream. The injecting assemblies each comprises a fluid outlet; a base plate through which extends the fluid outlet; a holding structure mounted to the base plate and extending downstream therefrom, and a unibody jet-fragmenting device mounted to the holding structure facing the stream of fluid exiting the fluid outlet.

Method and Device for Fire Protection by a Hybrid Composition of Mist and Inert Gas

A device, composition, and a process for a hybrid blend of inert gas and mist produced for fire protection by local or total flooding. The method mixes ultrafine water mist, preferably less than 20 microns diameter produced by atomization and an inert gas such as nitrogen. A homogeneous hybrid composition discharges from a swirling flow mixer-injector device. The hybrid composition extinguishes a fire source in reduced time by simultaneous and synergistic cooling with the mist and inerting with the inert gas. After extinction oxygen remains at a safe level of 12.5-15% (V). The high-velocity inert gas flow of 35-75 mph velocity in the mixing-injector column formed by an exit in the mixer-injector device entrains the low-velocity mist flowing out of atomizer. The device creates a swirling, high-speed, and expanding flow of the hybrid composition inside the fire protection volume at ambient pressure.

Fire Retardant Delivery
20190217136 · 2019-07-18 · ·

A technology is described for performing precision fire retardant or fire suppressant delivery from air-tankers or helicopters. A request can be received to release liquid fire retardant or fire suppressant. Drop door scheduling for the liquid can be calculated using fluid dynamics, air conditions data, airborne vehicle and target locations, digital terrain elevation data, and a ballistic model. A time point can be determined to open a drop door for an airborne vehicle based on the calculated release start point. The drop door can then be dynamically scheduled/controlled throughout the drop phase to continuously adjust for changing air vehicle, air conditions, and terrain variations.

METHOD OF AND SYSTEM FOR SUPPRESSING FIRE USING ANENVIRONMENTALLY-CLEAN FREE-RADICAL CHEMICAL-REACTION INTERRUPTING WATER MIST SO AS TO REDUCE WATER DAMAGE AND SMOKE PRODUCTION AND THE RISK OF FIRE RE-IGNITION

A method of and apparatus for automatically suppressing a detected fire in a building, vessel or vehicle, using a cloud of microscopic droplets generated from a supply of environmentally-clean water-based free-radical chemical-reaction interrupting liquid, whereby the droplets are vaporized by heat energy from the fire, instantly cooling the fire and displacing oxygen, while the water-based chemical vapor interrupts the free-radical chemical-reactions in the combustion phase of the fire, while minimizing smoke development, water damage, and risk of fire re-ignition.

Systems and methods for detecting events based on wireless signal degredation

A method for detecting an event in or around a building. The method includes recording a baseline signal characteristic that characterizes a wireless signal transmitted between devices in or around the building during a baseline time period and recording a second signal characteristic that characterizes the wireless signal during a second time period after the baseline time period. An event in or around the building is detected in response to a determination that the second signal characteristic is abnormal relative to the baseline signal characteristic, the event degrading the wireless signal during the second time period. An alarm is triggered in response to detecting the event.
