Hand-held exercise apparatus and resistance mechanism for exercise apparatus
A hand-held exercise device comprises a frame, a handle attached to the frame, a spool element pivotally mounted to the frame, a pull-cord movable between a wound configuration in which the pull-cord is wound around the spool element and an unwound configuration in which the pull-cord is unwound from the spool element, a resistance element pivotally mounted to the frame, a transmission that couples the pull-cord to the resistance element such that pulling the pull-cord from the device causes the resistance element to rotate, and a damping means that acts to slow the rotation of the resistance element. The device provides a compact and lightweight form of exercise equipment that is easy to carry and easy to store. The device can be used with various fixtures, and also with a second handle fixed to the pull-cord, to allow the user to perform a wide range of exercises. Preferably the exercise device transmits exercise data to an external device that provides feedback and guidance to the user. A resistance mechanism for exercise apparatus allows a pull-cord to be coupled to a resistance element such that pulling the pull-cord from the mechanism causes the resistance element to rotate. A drive element is driven by a frictional force between the drive element and the pull-cord. The resistance element is coupled to the drive element by a transmission.
EXERCISE APPARATUS
The present invention relates to an exercise apparatus. The exercise apparatus includes a platform which has an endless belt revolved around it. The endless belt defines an exercising space. A left strap extends from a left front portion to a left rear portion of the exercising space, and a right strap extends from a right front portion to a right rear portion of the exercising space. The left strap and the right strap respectively have a first connecting part and a second connecting part which could be connected or detached with each other. When the two connecting parts are connected with each other, the left strap and the right strap form a retaining portion for resisting forward movement of a user. When the two connecting parts are detached, the left strap and the right strap could be positioned on a left side and a right side of the exercising space.
STRENGTH TRAINING APPARATUS
Embodiments of a strength training apparatus and related methods are provided. In one embodiment, a strength training apparatus may include a tower, a first arm and a second arm each pivotally coupled with the tower and each being configured to be selectively positionable independent of each other at multiple angles relative to each other, a first pulley coupled to an end of the first arm, a first cable extending through the first arm and the first pulley, a second pulley coupled to an end of the second arm, a second cable extending through the second arm and the second pulley, a magnetic mechanism coupled to the first cable and the second cable and configured to provide multiple levels of resistance to a user pulling on the first cable and/or the second cable, and a control panel located on the tower.
Exercise device with continuous, flexible pulling member
An exercise device uses a guide member that is rotatably arranged on a shaft. A continuous, flexible pulling member wraps around the guide member and causes the guide member to rotate when the continuous, flexible pulling member is pulled. Two rotatable metal discs are arranged coaxially with the guide member on the shaft, one rotatable metal disc being arranged on each side of the guide member. A gear set is operatively connecting the guide member and the two rotatable metal discs. A magnetic cylinder is arranged substantially parallel to the shaft between the two rotatable metal discs such that a magnetic field passes through radially outer areas of the rotatable metal discs in a substantially axial orientation. The rotatable metal discs and the magnetic cylinder form an eddy current brake which counteracts a pulling motion on the continuous, flexible pulling member.
Exercise apparatus
An exercise apparatus includes a frame, two crank units, two reciprocating members, two swing arms, two linkages and two carrying arms. A predetermined portion oriented between the top and bottom ends of each linkage is pivotally coupled to the corresponding crank unit and is moved along a circular path. The top end of each linkage is pivotally coupled to the corresponding reciprocating member and is moved along a curved path between two retracing points. The front end of each carrying arm is pivotally coupled to the bottom end of the corresponding linkage and is moved along a first closed path which is elliptical-like shaped. A predetermined portion oriented between the front and rear ends of each carrying arm is pivotally coupled to the bottom of the corresponding swing arm. The rear end of the carrying arm supports user's foot and is moved along a second closed path.
Stationary ergometric exercise device
A stationary exercise device comprises pedals mounted via cranks to opposite sides of a drive wheel; a flywheel with a magnetic rim coupled to the drive wheel; a brake with a motor and one or more permanent magnets mounted for movement relative to the magnetic rim; a measuring unit for measuring at least one of the drive force applied via the drive wheel and the related torque; a measuring device for measuring cadence; and a command module. The command module uses measurements from the measuring unit and the measuring device to calculate a performance parameter and compares the performance parameter against a predetermined performance profile. The command module also can control the motor to move the permanent magnets relative to the magnetic rim to adjust the braking force applied and thereby adjust the performance parameter to conform with the performance profile.
Arcuate motion apparatus and method
A training or exercise apparatus may have a base and an adjacent movable armature or frame that carries a riding member, or shuttle, or carrier. The carrier has an engagement interface with an element of sporting or exercise equipment. The sporting or exercise equipment is engaged by the user, typically by being grasped. The apparatus defines a physical or virtual schedule describing an arc for a swing in the particular activity. The apparatus may include a manual or electronic means of imposing resistance to the motion. This resistance may be adjustable, and may be programmable as a function of one or both of position and speed. The apparatus may include an array of sensors such as may be used to determine the pre-existing stroke, and such as may be monitored during training to assess progress. The apparatus may be operated passively, or it may be operated interactively in a manner in which real-time feedback causes the apparatus to adjust resistance to the motion.
Exercise apparatus
An exercise apparatus includes a platform having a front roller, a rear roller and an endless belt mounted around the front roller and the rear roller for allowing a user to perform walking, jogging or running exercises on the belt. A flywheel is coupled to one of the two rollers. A friction resistance device is coupled to the flywheel for being manually controlled by the user to adjust rotational resistance of the flywheel, and a magnetic resistance device is coupled to the flywheel as well for being manually controlled by the user to adjust the rotational resistance of the flywheel. A front frame is mounted at a front side of the platform and has at least one holding portion for being held by the user.
