An exhaust after-treatment assembly for an engine system is provided. The exhaust after-treatment assembly includes a housing having an inlet port, an outlet port, a catalyst disposed within a cavity defined by the housing, and a muffler assembly disposed within the cavity downstream of the catalyst. The muffler assembly includes one or more baffle plates disposed longitudinally spaced from one another within the housing to define at least a first resonator chamber and a second resonator chamber. Each of the baffle plates defines an openings aligned to one another about a longitudinal axis of the housing. Further, a resonator tube extends through the openings of the baffle plates and includes an inlet, a perforated portion and one or more outlet ports formed in a wall of the resonator tube. The perforated portion and the outlet ports, respectively in fluid communication with the second resonator chamber and the first resonator chamber.

EXHAUST MUFFLER FOR LONGITUDINAL INSTALLATION IN A VEHICLE

An exhaust muffler, for longitudinal installation in a vehicle, includes a muffler housing (28) elongated in the direction of a longitudinal axis (G) of the housing. The muffler housing (28) has a housing jacket (30) and two front walls (32, 34), which are arranged, with respect to the direction of the longitudinal axis (G) of the housing, at spaced locations from one another. The front walls (32, 34) and the housing jacket (30) define a muffler interior space. At least one inlet pipe leads into the muffler interior space and at least one outlet pipe leads out of the muffler interior space. The housing jacket includes at least one predetermined deformation area (64, 66) including at least one wall area (68, 70), not parallel to the housing longitudinal axis (G), provided at the housing jacket (30).

An exhaust muffler for transverse installation in a vehicle includes a muffler housing (26) elongated in the direction of a housing longitudinal axis (G) with a housing jacket (28) and two front walls (30, 32). The two front walls (30, 32) are arranged at spaced locations from one another and define an interior (34) of the muffler with the housing jacket (28). At least one inlet pipe (36) leads into the interior (34) of the muffler and at least one outlet pipe (20) leads out of the interior (34) of the muffler. At least one front wall (30, 32) has at least one predetermined deformation area (50, 52).

Acoustically tuned muffler

A muffler for receiving exhaust gas from a combustion engine may include a shell, an inlet pipe, at least one outlet pipe, one or more baffles, and an internal communication pipe. The inlet pipe may extend through the shell. The outlet pipe may be in fluid communication with the inlet pipe and may be at least partially disposed within the shell. The baffles are disposed within the shell and cooperate with the shell to define a plurality of chambers. The internal communication pipe may be disposed entirely within the shell and may be in fluid communication with the inlet pipe. The internal communication pipe may include an inlet opening and first and outlet openings. The first outlet opening is open to and in direct fluid communication with one of the chambers. The second outlet opening is open to and in direct fluid communication with another one of the chambers.

A standby generator includes an internal combustion engine, an alternator, and a controller. The internal combustion engine includes an engine housing, an engine block, and a crankshaft. The engine housing at least partially covers the engine block. The engine block includes a cylinder. The crankshaft is configured to rotate about a vertical crankshaft axis in response to movement by the cylinder. The alternator includes a stator, as well as a rotor that is configured to rotate with the rotation of the crankshaft to produce electrical power. The controller includes an inverter that is configured to receive electrical power from the alternator and output alternating current electrical power. The controller extends at least partially above the engine housing.

The housing includes a first installation chamber configured to contain diesel generating equipment, and the first installation chamber has a top plate, a bottom plate, and a first side plate, and a second side plate that is disposed opposite the first installation chamber from the first side plate. An air intake vent is disposed on the first side plate, and an air exhaust vent is disposed on the second side plate. A first serpentine channel is formed in the first baffle component, and one end of the first serpentine channel is connected to the air intake vent. A second serpentine channel is formed in the second baffle component, and one end of the second serpentine channel is connected to the air exhaust vent.

The neck extension is selectively engageable with an exhaust of a small gas engine. The outer housing cavity has a plurality of vent apertures. An intake extension tube and a medial tube are coupled to the outer housing cavity. The medial tube has a medial cavity. A first filtering medium is coupled within the medial cavity and filters pollutants passing therethrough. A second filtering medium is coupled within the outer housing cavity outside of the medial tube and dampens sound waves passing through the apparatus from the exhaust.

Exhaust gas in the first chamber exits the muffler through the first outlet pipe. Exhaust gas in the second chamber exits the muffler through the second outlet pipe. The communication pipe may include first, second and third openings. The first opening is in communication with the first chamber. The second opening is in communication with the second chamber. The third opening is in communication with the third chamber. The first and second chambers may be in communication with the third chamber through the communication pipe.
