The invention is related to a pulsation muffler (100) for a gaseous medium flow (107), which is supplied by a compressor. The pulsation muffler (100) comprises a housing (101) extending along a central axis with a medium flow inlet (106) and a medium flow outlet; several tubular absorber elements (108) concentrically arranged in the housing (10) and fluidically arranged one behind the other. Each tubular absorber element (108) is provided with an inlet area and an outlet area, positioned at an axial distance from each other. Between the respective radially adjacent wall sections of different absorber elements (108), a flow compartment (112, 114) is maintained for the medium flow (107).

A lightweight and compact muffler device that can be installed in a limited space in an inside of a generator. A top cover and an undercover (end cover) provided on a top and a bottom of a vertically disposed casing are each formed in substantially trapezoidal shape. Thereby, an inner capacity of the casing can be secured to be large, as a result of which, a size of the muffler device can be made compact, and no extra component is required, so that reduction in manufacturing cost and reduction in weight can be achieved. Since the casing is disposed vertically, it is possible to install the casing even when an installation space is small in an inside of a housing of a generator, and it is possible to make the generator compact.

Muffler for an internal combustion engine

A muffler has a housing enclosing a plurality of chambers. A first flow path extends from an inlet to an outlet passing through a bypass chamber. A flow tube has a plurality of perforations being open to a chamber other than the bypass chamber. A second in flow path passes from the inlet to the outlet without passing through the bypass chamber and passing through the perforations. Exhaust gas is introduced into the muffler via the inlet and discharged therefrom via the outlet. A first portion of the exhaust gas flows from the inlet to the outlet along the first flow path. A second portion of the exhaust gas flows from the inlet to the outlet along the second flow path, the first and second portions mixing at least in the outlet chamber. A semi-closed tube has an open end being open to one of the chambers and a closed end.

A marine drive has a primary exhaust outlet on its lower gearcase that discharges a primary flow of exhaust gas from the engine to seawater in which the marine drive is situated. A secondary exhaust outlet is located on the marine drive above the primary exhaust outlet and discharges a secondary flow of exhaust gas from the engine to atmosphere around the marine drive at least when the engine is operated at an idle speed. A tertiary exhaust outlet is located on the marine drive between the primary and secondary exhaust outlets, and discharges a tertiary flow of exhaust gas from the engine to the seawater or to the atmosphere depending upon a current location of the tertiary exhaust outlet with respect to the seawater. A muffler is configured to reduce noise emanating from the tertiary exhaust outlet.
