Exhaust aftertreatment arrangement for cleaning exhaust gases
An exhaust aftertreatment arrangement for cleaning exhaust gases includes a fluid channel for providing a fluid pathway for the exhaust gases, a selective catalyst reduction, SCR, catalyst, arranged in or downstream the fluid channel, a heating arrangement for heating the exhaust gases, the heating arrangement being arranged upstream of the SCR catalyst and comprising an electrical heating element, a first fluid pathway for guiding the exhaust gases to the electrical heating element, and a second fluid pathway for guiding the exhaust gases to bypass the electrical heating element, wherein the heating arrangement is removably arranged relative the fluid channel.
EXHAUST SYSTEM AND COMPONENTS THEREOF
A heater for an exhaust system that includes a housing having a connector coupled to the exterior thereof, a first terminal and a second terminal that are each disposed to the interior of the housing and electrically coupled to the connector, a heating element coupled to the first and second terminals, a heating wire coupled to the first and second terminals, and a plurality of heating rods inserted into the heating element to conduct heat from the heating wire throughout the heating element, wherein the connector receives power from an external power supply to supply electrical current to the heating element and the heating wire and wherein at least one of the heating rods supports the heating wire. The combination of elements are configured to heat and disrupt the flow of exhaust gases and aid in removing and/or reducing toxic gases and pollutants from the exhaust system.
Apparatus, methods and systems for electrically heated particulate filter and SCR catalyst in vehicles
The enclosed disclosure relates to vehicle systems in which an engine, a particulate filter fluidly coupled with the engine, a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system fluidly coupled with the engine downstream of the particulate filter, an electrical heating device implemented with the particulate filter, and a controller operatively coupled with the engine and the electrical heating device, are implemented. The controller can detect, when the engine is turned off, a condition for turning on the engine, detect a temperature of the particulate filter of the SCR system, activate the electrical heating device in response to the detected temperature being below a lower temperature threshold, and turn on the engine in response to the detected temperature being at or above the lower temperature threshold.
EXHAUST SYSTEM AND FEATURES THEREOF
An exhaust system that includes a catalytic converter, selective catalytic reduction system, a muffler and, for certain applications, a diesel particulate filter that each include at least one filter that has an electric heating element, a metallic coating and a plurality of metal rods extending therethrough. The combination of elements are configured to heat the internal housings of the exhaust system and disrupt the direction of flow of exhaust gases which contain harmful toxic gases and pollutants and aid in removing and/or reducing said toxic gases and pollutants.
Isolated plasma tube treatment systems
Systems, methods, and apparatus are contemplated in which a tube cell that produces a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) is individually configured to minimize the mixing of unwanted byproducts of the generated plasma with an exhaust air stream. The tube cell generates a DBD within a tube cell, such that oxidants or radicals are generated in an environment substantially separated from the exhaust stream. The generated oxidants are directed to intersect with the exhaust stream to minimize the generation of unwanted byproducts. The tube cells are further shaped and arranged in tube cell arrays to alter the flow dynamics of the exhaust stream and the oxidant or radical streams, including mixing of the streams.
