A method of maintaining a temperature of an aftertreatment system of a vehicle, the method including: operating, by a controller, a retarder reducing driving force of a propeller shaft of the vehicle in response to a retarder operation request signal; operating, by the controller, a jake brake device which discharges a fuel-air mixture compressed in an explosion stroke of the engine to an exhaust pipe and decreases revolutions per minute (RPM) of the engine or an exhaust brake device which blocks a discharge of the exhaust gas of the engine to a rear end of the exhaust pipe and decreases the RPM of the engine, in order to remove the output error value; and controlling, by the controller, the engine so that an amount of exhaust gas introduced into the aftertreatment system is decreased.
FAULT DIAGNOSIS DEVICE FOR EXHAUST PIPE FUEL INJECTOR
A fault diagnosis device for an exhaust pipe fuel injector that diagnoses a normality or an abnormality of the exhaust pipe fuel injector which injects a fuel according to an instructed fuel injection amount, includes: a storage unit which stores a regeneration duration and an instructed fuel injection amount in the regeneration duration; a calculation unit which calculates an instructed fuel injection amount per unit time in the regeneration duration; and a fault diagnosis unit which diagnoses that the exhaust pipe fuel injector is abnormal when the instructed fuel injection amount per unit time in the regeneration duration exceeds a fault threshold, and diagnoses that the exhaust pipe fuel injector is normal when the instructed fuel injection amount per unit time in the regeneration duration does not exceed the fault threshold.
Method and device for monitoring the tank content of a storage tank of an exhaust-gas treatment system
Various embodiments include a method for monitoring the tank content of a storage tank comprising: metering a fluid from the tank into the exhaust gas tract, wherein the fluid has a concentration with respect to a reducing agent; acquiring a current concentration value for the reducing agent; calculating a change in concentration of the reducing agent on the basis of the current concentration value in comparison with a stored concentration value; determining a current operating state of the vehicle to identify an operating state in which refueling cannot be carried out; and carrying out a plausibility check of the calculated change in concentration if the calculated change in concentration exceeds a predetermined threshold value and the operating state is identified. The plausibility check includes acquiring the current tank filling level of the fluid.
Exhaust tuning system and method
Methods and systems are provided for adjusting a position of an exhaust valve that regulates engine exhaust noise. In one example, the position of the exhaust valve is adjusted according to a road grade estimate. The road grade estimate may be based on a vehicle's present position on a road or a position that is a distance away from the vehicle's present position.
SOUND CONTROL OF AN ENGINE OR OTHER PRIME MOVER
A system for controlling a sound level of a prime mover permitted to emanate from or within a vehicle includes a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver operable for receiving a GPS signal and a sound control device. The sound control device is operable for increasing or decreasing a sound level of the prime mover in response to a control signal. A controller in communication with the GPS receiver includes a calendar and clock, and is programmed to execute a method, including receiving the GPS signal via the GPS receiver, and determining an actual location of the vehicle using the GPS signal. The controller also determines an actual date and time of day using the calendar and the clock, respectively, and transmits the control signal to the sound control device to increase or decrease the sound level using at least one of the actual location, date, and time of day.

A system and method of reducing particulate matter accumulation in a diesel particulate filter of an exhaust system of a vehicle comprises operating the vehicle including an engine connected to the exhaust system in a drive mode. At least one parameter indicative of particulate matter accumulation in the diesel particulate filter is monitored and evaluated against a predetermined particulate matter accumulation limit. Control logic determines at least one operating parameter of the vehicle and adjusts the transmission assembly from a first transmission position to at least one second transmission position to increase engine speed and generate higher exhaust gas flow when the particulate matter accumulation is greater than the predetermined particulate matter accumulation to regenerate the diesel particulate filter.

A chemical species mass flow meter measurement system for use in fluid mixture streams includes a chemical species concentration detection analyzer physically located within a fluid volume flow rate sensing probe along with bulk temperature and pressure sensing devices for relating to standard conditions. Applications include the measurement of exhaust mass emissions from vehicles, the fuel economy of vehicles, as well as the measurement of the mass flow rate of chemical species of interest in general industrial processes.
Control device and control method for hybrid vehicle
A control device for a hybrid vehicle is provided. When a first drive mode is selected as the drive mode of the hybrid vehicle, a control section shifts the drive mode to a second drive mode when a charge amount of a battery for an electric motor becomes smaller than or equal to a determination charge amount. The first drive mode operates the electric motor while an internal combustion engine is stopped. The second drive mode permits the operation of the internal combustion engine. The control section executes a shifting process when the upper limit system output is lower than or equal to a startup determination output even though the charge amount of the battery is greater than the determination charge amount. The shifting process shifts the drive mode to the second drive mode to start the internal combustion engine.

In one example, a method may include determining initiation of regeneration, termination of regeneration and a degree of regeneration based on information from a lead vehicular network and navigation information in order to reduce a regeneration fuel penalty.
