Turbine vane assembly incorporating ceramic matrix composite materials and cooling

A turbine vane assembly adapted for use with a gas turbine engine includes an airfoil and a spar. The airfoil is formed to define a cavity that extends into the airfoil. The spar is located in the cavity to define a cooling passage that extends around the spar between the spar and the airfoil. The turbine vane assembly includes cooling features to aid heat transfer of the turbine vane assembly during operation in the gas turbine engine.

The subject matter of this specification can be embodied in, among other things, a fuel delivery component, including a substantially rigid, unitary structure formed as a single piece of material, and at least a first seamless lumen defined by the unitary structure.

IMPELLER

An impeller includes a housing having a fluid inlet cavity defining a rotational axis. A plurality of vane are inlets arranged along an inner surface of the fluid inlet cavity and a plurality of vane outlets are circumferentially arranged along a rim of the housing. Each of the vane outlets is fluidly connected to a corresponding vane inlet by a corresponding internal channel situated internal to the housing. Each of the channels maintains a triangular cross-section from the vane inlet to the vane outlet.

A mechanical reduction gear of a turbomachine, in particular of an aircraft. The reduction gear includes a sun gear, a ring gear surrounded by a ring gear carrier, and planet gears meshed with the sun gear and the ring gear. The ring gear carrier includes an axial abutment on which the ring gear is configured to bear, and helical external splines which are engaged in complementary internal splines of the ring gear carrier and which are configured to cooperate by sliding with the internal splines so as to force the ring gear to be held against the abutment in operation.

Spiraling grooves as a hub treatment for cantilevered stators in compressors

A casing treatment comprising a hub having a surface, the hub being rotatable about an axis within a casing of a gas turbine engine compressor, at least one spiral groove formed in the surface extending axially relative to the axis, a stator blade fixed to the casing, wherein a tip of the stator blade is proximate to the at least one spiral groove.

A computer-controlled method of component manufacture is disclosed, which includes winding a thread of material around a shaping element to form a first layer formed of adjacent turns of the thread. The winding is repeated to form a second layer of adjacent turns of the thread on top of the first layer. A laser beam is then applied between adjacent turns of each layer to attach them at predetermined points.

Fluid collection gutter for a geared turbine engine

A turbine engine system includes a gutter and a gear train with an axial centerline. The gutter is disposed radially outside of the axial centerline. The gutter at least partially circumscribes the gear train, and includes an inner surface and a channel. The channel receives fluid directed out of the gear train. The channel extends radially into the gutter from the inner surface to a channel end, and circumferentially to a channel outlet. At least a portion of the channel has a cross-sectional channel geometry that tapers axially as the channel extends radially towards the channel end.

Diffuser-deswirler for a gas turbine engine

A diffuser-deswirler for a gas turbine engine is provided. The diffuser-deswirler includes an inner shell and an outer shell spaced apart and configured for receiving a flow of compressed air from a compressor of a gas turbine engine. A plurality of vanes extend between the inner shell and the outer shell to define a plurality of fluid passageways and a splitter extends along the circumferential direction between adjacent vanes to split the flow of compressed air passing through the each fluid passageway. All of these components are manufactured as a single monolithic piece and are configured for diffusing and deswirling compressor air before passing it to a combustor for an improved combustion process.

In a combustor, and in a gas turbine including the same, a path in which compressed air is mixed with fuel may be increased in each of a plurality of main nozzles. The combustor includes a nozzle casing axially extending in parallel with an extension line (PL); and a plurality of main nozzles to mix and inject compressed air and fuel, the plurality of main nozzles arranged inside the nozzle casing along an imaginary annular line, at least one main nozzle having a center axis inclined at a predetermined angle with respect to the extension line. A central nozzle surrounded by the main nozzles may be disposed in the nozzle casing so as to be parallel to the extension line. Thus, the at least one main nozzle has a path in which the fuel and the compressed air flow that is longer than in the central nozzle.
