DETECTING A FUEL LEAK IN AN ENGINE FUEL SYSTEM
An assembly is provided for an engine. This engine assembly includes a fuel system, a sensor and a processing system. The fuel system includes a fuel source, an engine component and a fuel circuit configured to direct fuel from the fuel source to the engine component. The sensor is configured to provide sensor data indicative of a measured parameter of the fuel directed through the fuel circuit from the fuel source to the engine component. The processing system is configured to identify a fuel leak in the fuel system based on the sensor data. The fuel leak is identified when a measured value corresponding to the measured parameter of the fuel is less than an expected value corresponding to an expected parameter for the fuel directed through the fuel circuit from the fuel source to the engine component.
System and method for controlling a journal bearing
A system including: a journal bearing having a carrier, a rotor arranged rotatable about a rotational axis relative to the carrier, and a fluid in a clearance between the rotor and the carrier. A sensor measures a vibration signal of the rotor. A control system is adapted to determine a pressure set point for the fluid in the clearance based on the vibration signal, and to provide control signals generated based on the pressure set point. An active device is adapted to modify the pressure of the fluid in the clearance based on the control signals.
Automated engine vibration monitoring and control system
An engine vibration monitoring and control system includes an aircraft autopilot and a flight management system (FMS). The FMS is in operable communication with the aircraft autopilot and is configured to determine when the aircraft autopilot is engaged and disengaged. The FMS is also adapted to receive vibration data from an engine vibration data source and is configured, upon determining that the aircraft autopilot is engaged, to: process the vibration data to determine when engine vibrations exceed one or more first thresholds, and when the engine vibrations exceed the one or more first thresholds, supply commands to the autopilot that cause the autopilot to take corrective actions to reduce the engine vibrations below the one or more first thresholds.
Method and system for determining an engine temperature
Methods and systems for determining an engine temperature for a gas turbine engine are provided. An estimated combustor temperature is determined based on at least one operating condition of the gas turbine engine and an estimated vane mass flow. A corrected vane mass flow is determined based on the estimated combustor temperature, the estimated vane mass flow, and a combustor pressure. The corrected vane mass flow is compared to a reference vane mass flow to obtain the mass flow correction factor. When a condition associated with the mass flow correction factor is not satisfied, the estimated combustor temperature is adjusted based on the mass flow correction factor to produce an adjusted combustor temperature; and the mass flow correction factor is updated based on the adjusted combustor temperature. When the condition associated with the mass flow correction factor is satisfied, the estimated combustor temperature is assigned as the engine temperature.

An apparatus for diagnosing and controlling the aerodynamic stability of a compressor and method there of are provided. The apparatus includes a measurement device (100), a signal processing device (200) and a control and execution device (300), wherein the measurement device (100) is configured to measure the pressure or velocity fluctuations of air flows in different positions inside a compressor in real time, and to transmit real-time measurement signals obtained from different positions to the signal processing device (200); the signal processing device (200) is configured to determine, according to the real-time measurement signals, a type and spatial distribution of instability precursor in the compressor, and to output corresponding control strategy signals to the control and execution device (300); and the control and execution device (300) executes, according to the received control strategy signals, corresponding control actions to regulate the stability of the compressor (S3).

The control valve is disposed to direct hydraulic fluid to the brake actuator at a rate corresponding to a magnitude of a control signal. The control assembly includes a mixed-mode control system. The at least one pressure sensor is configured to measure a pressure of the hydraulic fluid to the brake actuator. The control assembly is configured to determine a position of the brake actuator. The mixed-mode control system is configured to determine a position command and a pressure command. The mixed-mode control system is configured to adjust the magnitude of the control signal based on at least one of the position command and the pressure command so as to reposition the brake actuator from a first position to a second position.
