The invention relates to a rolling stand and a rolling mill for the rolling of preferably metallic rolling stock. Known rolling stands of this type typically have two back-up rolls (110) which are rotatably mounted by way of their roll journals in chocks which function as oil film bearings. The oil film bearings are supplied with coolant and/or lubricant by means of a low-pressure circuit which has at least one low-pressure pump (130) for conveying the coolant and/or lubricant. To reduce the costs for driving the low-pressure pump (130), there is provided according to the invention a gear mechanism which is arranged on the roll face-remote side of at least one of the chocks in order to rotationally couple the at least one low-pressure pump (130) to the back-up roll journal (120) which is rotatably mounted in the chock.

The invention relates to a rolling stand for the rolling of metallic rolling stock. The rolling is achieved with the aid of a roll of which the two roll journals (112) are rotatably mounted in recesses (122) of chocks (120). The recesses are supplied with coolant and/or lubricant via a high-pressure inlet (124) and at least one low-pressure inlet (126). The high-pressure inlet is fed via high-pressure conduits (132) from a high-pressure pump (130). To reduce the costs for driving the high-pressure pump in relation to the prior art, the invention provides that the high-pressure pump is rotationally coupled to the roll journal via a gear mechanism in order to be driven thereby.

The propeller shaft includes a first shaft and a second shaft, each of the first shaft and the second shaft having a first end and a second end, the second end of the first shaft coupled to the first end of the second shaft with a joint and a variable stiffness bushing assembly coupled to one of the first and the second shafts near the joint, the variable stiffness bushing assembly having a bearing, a bearing support encircling the bearing, a chamber formed in the bearing support, and at least one electric field generator, wherein the chamber contains a magnetorheological fluid.

Bearing pad and bearing device

A bearing pad that supports a rotating shaft rotating about an axis includes: a pad body having a hollow portion formed therein, a lubricating oil supply path for supplying a lubricating oil to the hollow portion, and a lubricating oil discharge path for discharging the lubricating oil to an outside from the hollow portion; and a support structure that is packed into the hollow portion and radially connects inner wall surfaces forming the hollow portion while including a space. The hollow portion is formed in a region shifted to a forward side in a rotation direction of the rotating shaft in the pad body.

INTEGRATED SYSTEM FOR PRECISION ACTUATION AND SUPPORT FOR LARGE MOBILE STRUCTURES

An integrated system for precision actuation and support for large mobile structures, such as large telescopes, wherein an actuation is integrated on the basis of linear motors located in each a the frames that support the mobile structure on another fixed structure, the support of said frames on the fixed structure being carried out by means of hydrostatic feet. The connection between this flame and the driving structure is made via a flexible kinematic connection that permits relative movements between both (frame and structure), such that the mechanism is only affected in its operation through the small-scale deformations of the track via which it circulates, and not through the large-scale deformations of the structure.

Oil film bearing

An oil film bearing for supporting a roll neck in a rolling mill, suitable in particular for transmitting high bearing forces when the bearing partners are slightly and slowly moved with respect to each other, has a bearing surface into which are incorporated rods made of a friction-reducing material (e.g., low friction compounds), which extend in a substantially perpendicular direction to the bearing surface. The rods are deformed during heat processing to define a bearing surface. The bearing partner, such as a roll sleeve, rests on the free face of the deformed rods.
