A compressor swash plate includes a base member having a flat plate shape, and a coating layer formed on a surface of the base member and having projections formed in a linear shape, in which the following inequalities are satisfied when a plane part formed on a prism is pressed against the coating layer with a pressure of 30 MPa: 0.01B0.06 and 10S40, where B indicates widths (mm) of surfaces of the projections in contact with the plane part, and S indicates a percentage (%) of a total sum of an area Si of the contact surfaces (a gross area of the surfaces of the projections in contact with the plane part) relative to a reference area (an area of a part of the coating layer against which the plane part is pressed).

Cylindrical elastomeric bearing with tapered shims

A cylindrical elastomeric bearing including a plurality of elastomeric layers arranged about a central bore. The elastomeric layers are characterized by a middle portion having a first thickness and two outer portions having a second thickness, the second thickness being greater than the first thickness, the one or more elastomeric layers being tapered between the middle portion and the outer portions. One or more shim layers, each of the plurality of shim layers being arranged between two of the plurality of elastomeric layers. The shim layers are shaped to fit with the elastomer layers.

COATING OF A SYSTEM AND AN ASSOCIATED METHOD THEREOF

A system and method are disclosed. The system includes an assembly with a base, and a coating disposed on the base, wherein the coating has a density greater than 98 percent of a theoretical density of the coating, and a dilution less than 0.5 volume percent of the coating. In an embodiment, the assembly includes a shaft and a journal bearing coupled to the shaft, wherein at least one of the shaft and the journal bearing includes the base. In another embodiment, the assembly includes a valve coupled to a valve seat, wherein at least one of the valve and the valve seat includes the base, and the base includes a plurality of dimples, the coating disposed on at least some dimples. The method is for disposing a coating on a base of the assembly using a friction surface process.

ELECTRO-CHEMICAL HARDENING OF BEARING RACEWAYS

A method of making bearings includes treating a metallic surface of a bearing raceway with a pulsed electrochemical processing nozzle to transform the amorphous oxide into a crystalline structure on the metallic surface electro-chemically and convert the metallic surface into a ceramic like hardness surface. Treating the metallic surface can include forming a gradient in material composition transitioning from a purely metallic material at a cross-sectional position within the bearing raceway to a purely crystalline structure material at the ceramic like hardness surface of the bearing raceway.

Sliding member

A sliding member which has a hardness suitable for use under heavy-load conditions and which exhibits excellent abrasion resistance property. A sliding surface is formed on a surface of a sliding layer that slidably supports an object to be slid. The sliding surface is then shot-blasted and is formed to have an uneven shape exhibiting an arithmetic average roughness (Ra) of more than 0 to 2.0 m, a ten-point average roughness (Rz) of more than 0 to 7.5 m, and a surface hardness (Hv) of 150 to 250.

SLIDING CONTACT SURFACE-FORMING MATERIAL, SLIDE BEARING CONTAINING SAME, AND METHOD OF USING SAME IN A MOIST ENVIRONMENT

A sliding contact surface-forming material with improved friction-proof and wear-proof characteristics under dry friction conditions such as in the open air, while keeping the low swelling, friction-proof, and wear-proof characteristics under moist atmosphere typically under water unchanged, wherein the sliding contact surface-forming material includes a reinforcing base impregnated with a resol-type phenolic resin having polytetrafluoroethylene resin dispersed therein, the reinforcing base being composed of a woven fabric formed by using, respectively as the warp and the weft, a ply yarn which is formed by paralleling at least two strands of a single twist yarn spun from fluorine-containing resin fiber and a single twist yarn spun from polyphenylene sulfide fiber, and by twisting them in the direction opposite to the direction in which the single twist yarns were spun.

VAPOR DEPOSITION BEARING COATING

A method of providing electrical discharge machining protection for a bearing is provided. The method includes (a) providing a bearing ring, (b) ionizing pure aluminum and depositing a pure aluminum layer on at least a portion of the bearing ring, (c) immersing the bearing ring in acid to convert the pure aluminum layer to an aluminum oxide layer, and (d) immersing the bearing ring in deionized water to seal the aluminum oxide layer.

Flexible Catheter

A flexible, elongated catheter tube having distal and proximal ends and a laser cut section there between. The laser cut section makes up a majority of the catheter length and is cut in a continuous helical pattern forming interlocking teeth which can be sinusoidal, triangular, square or likes shapes, preferably sinusoidal. The interior of the catheter tube has a polymeric bi-layer of a nylon or like polymer at the interface of the tube interior and a Teflon or like polymer forms the interior lumen of the catheter. The exterior of the tube has a thin polymer coating of nylon or the like. A short portion of the distal end is uncut and is followed by a narrower terminal section which can be tapered for better blockage penetration. The interlocking teeth disengage and reengage in a fish scale manner without undergoing plastic deformation and without substantial polymer separation.
