Modular firearm muzzle attachment system
11187485 · 2021-11-30 ·

A modular firearm muzzle attachment system provides for customizing muzzle attachment characteristics by assembling selectable muzzle attachment components corresponding to desired characteristics. The system includes a plurality of internal connectors engageable together in series in a selectable order to form an internal assembly having a conduit defined by channels extending through each internal connector coupled together to form the internal assembly. Each of the internal connectors is individually structured to have associated characteristics. Each of a plurality of shrouds is couplable to a selectable one of the internal connectors of the internal assembly such that the internal assembly extends through the plurality of shrouds to define a muzzle attachment configured for coupling to a firearm.

Method and apparatus for parallel path firearm sound suppression
11221189 · 2022-01-11 ·

A method of firearm sound and flash suppression, and a device to facilitate that method, by preventing a plurality of solid propellant particles from suspending, and separating solid propellant particles from suspension, within a plurality of gases ejected from a firearm muzzle. The method comprises temporarily detaining the solid propellant particles to burn within the device while allowing gases to flow through and exit the device with minimal turbulence and resistance. The method and the device allow the bullet to move away from the propellant solids and gases, thereby minimizing the effects of asymmetrical forces produced by the propellant solids and gases. The device comprises a plurality of features that are organized in a manner to direct the flow of gases exiting said device in a direction co-linear to the path of the bullet.

A suppressor has a suppressor body extending from a proximal end portion to a distal end plate. The suppressor defines an inner chamber with a plurality of baffles and a plurality of outer chambers located radially outside of the inner chamber between the suppressor body and an outer housing. An integral flash hider is located in the distal end portion of the suppressor and exits through a central exit opening in the distal end plate. The outer chambers are largely isolated from the inner chamber and evacuate semi-independently from the inner chamber.

DIVERGING CENTRAL BORE FOR FIREARM SOUND SUPPRESSOR

An apparatus and methods are provided for a front plate having a diverging central bore for firearm sound suppressors that improves noise and flash characteristics during firing a weapon. The central bore is disposed between a back surface and a front surface of the front plate. An untapered portion of the central bore extends from the back surface to a diverging portion that opens toward the front surface. The diverging portion includes a curvature profile configured to allow for more controlled expansion of high-pressure propellant gases exiting of the suppressor through the central bore. The curvature profile provides an included angle of the central bore that decreases secondary flash events accompanying the expulsion of propellant gases accompanying a fired bullet exiting the suppressor through the central bore. The curvature profile exhibits a cross-sectional area of the central bore that is proportional to a distance along the diverging portion.

An apparatus is provided for a firearm suppressor. The apparatus includes an outer tube defining a longitudinal axis, and an inner cylinder defining an inner chamber. The inner cylinder is disposed at least partially within the outer tube and defines an outer chamber with the outer tube, where the outer chamber is disposed between an inner surface of the outer tube and an outer surface of the inner cylinder, and where the inner cylinder comprises at least one opening to fluidly couple the inner chamber with the outer chamber. The apparatus also includes at least one flow structure disposed in the outer chamber and positioned to direct firearm combustion gasses in a fluid pathway that is off-axis with respect to the longitudinal axis.
