HIGH PERFORMANCE MUZZLE LOADING BREECH PLUG
20180259291 · 2018-09-13 ·

A muzzle loading breech plug system designed for high performance muzzle loading rifles, including, but not limited to, bolt actions and break actions. The system is comprised of the following: 1) A breech plug body threaded to fit corresponding threads on the muzzle loading firearm. 2) A bushing designed to prevent powder from passing completely through the barrel, but still allowing flame from primer to ignite powder while being resistant to gas wear. 3) A retention module/adapter insert that holds bushing in place while mating with primer holder module. 4) Primer holder module designed to hold a large rifle magnum primer and mate up with the other components of the system providing reliable sealing and consistent ignition.

Muzzleloader systems

Muzzleloader systems include a pre-packaged propellant charge and primer for providing efficient loading and unloading of the muzzleloader. The muzzleloader accepts in the breech end the propellant containment vessel that abuts against a constriction portion with a reduced diameter portion. The propellant containment vessel having an end portion with a tapered surface that conforms to the constriction portion surface. A projectile is inserted in the muzzle end and seats against the constriction portion. The propellant containment vessel may be received in a removable breech plug. The constriction portion may be part of the breech plug or a separate component secured in the barrel by way of the breech plug. The containment vessel further comprises a primer mechanism that may be integrated into the proximal end of the containment vessel.

BULLET LOADING TIPS FOR MUZZLELOADING FIREARMS

Bullet loading tips for muzzleloading firearms. The bullet loading tips include a stem, a platform, and a cushion. The platform is coupled to the stem. The cushion is coupled to the platform. The stem, the platform, and the cushion are complementarily configured with a barrel of the muzzleloading firearm to insert into the barrel with the cushion abutting a bullet disposed in the barrel. The bullet loading tip is configured to press the bullet down the barrel to a seated position at the end of the barrel when the bullet loading tip is urged down the barrel. The bullet loading tip is configured to apply pressure to the bullet in the seated position without deforming the bullet.

A ramrod for a muzzleloading firearm and method of using the same. The ramrod comprises an elongated ramrod outer body having a hollow portion and an exterior size and shape permissible for insertion into the firearm bore. An extension member is movable within the outer body hollow portion, and includes a clasping member which is foldable between a stowed position in which the clasping member is generally aligned with the longitudinal axis of the outer body to a working position in which the clasping member makes a substantial angle with respect to the outer body longitudinal axis. The extension member is movable between a retracted position wherein a first length of the extension member is within the outer body hollow portion to an extended position wherein the first length of the extension member is outside the outer body hollow portion.

The outer body has an exterior size and shape permissible for insertion within a firearm bore. An extension member is movable within a hollow portion of the outer body from a retracted position to an extended position and has a length outside the outer body hollow portion. A clasping member coupled to an end of the extension member second length forming a pivot point and is movable between a stowed and working positions. A detent member couplingly engages the extension member and includes an engagement portion for securing the extension member between extended and retracted positions. Optionally, a capture element secured to the outer body may engage the detent member between extended and retracted positions.

The invention relates to a firearm loading devices that may be inserted into a firearm at or near the proximal end of a barrel of a compatible firearm, as well as firearms operable to receive such loading devices and related methods. In some examples, the loading devices may be packed with propellant and one or more projectiles and inserted into a receiver in a compatible firearm. In other examples, the loading devices will accept bullet cartridges or shells. The loading devices may be used with black-powder firearms, such as muzzle-loading rifles, but are not limited thereto.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR LOADING A CARTRIDGE INTO A CHAMBER OF BREAK-ACTION FIREARM

Method of Loading a Sound Suppressed Muzzle Loading Firearm

A muzzle loading firearm has a sound suppressor mounted on the barrel. Attachment of the suppressor to the barrel may be permanent, as by welding, brazing and adhesive bonding. A guide tube inserted into the suppressor is used to provide a continuous path from the open end of the suppressor to the muzzle end of the barrel to permit loading of propellant charge and projectile from the muzzle end. The guide tube isolates the chambers of the suppressor and prevents grains of the propellant charge from being lost in the suppressor as they are poured into the barrel. The tube also protects the internal components of the suppressor from damage during loading with a ramrod.
