REAR-DEPLOYING MECHANICAL BROADHEAD
20170257625 · 2017-09-07 ·

Rear-deploying mechanical broadheads may be provided having stationary blades that open only through movement of a drive pin/key secured within a slot or chamber in the body of the broadhead. The drive pin/key may act as bleeder blades, thereby forming a mechanical broadhead with bleeder blades. The stationary blades may be pinned to the tip of the broadhead through blade pins, thereby keeping the blades stationary during flight toward a target and lessening the likelihood that the broadhead may be errant in its movement toward a target.

Manufacturing process to produce metalurgically programmed terminal performance projectiles

The present invention in some aspects is directed to small arms ammunition and programmed upset characteristics thereof imparted to them using high energy beams. More particularly, the invention relates to ammunition and methods of making ammunition having predetermined patterns of engraving and/or cutting or hardening and/or annealing imparted in the ammunition's forward portion using a programming laser or electron beam system adapted for treating projectiles to effect predetermined and consistent upset configurations.

Reusable polyurethane projectile
09719763 · 2017-08-01 ·

Improvements in a reusable polyurethane projectile are presented. The reusable polyurethane projectile performs like a bullet or projectile because the projectile is essentially the same size and shape of a bullet and can be fed through a normal bullet clip into the breach of a gun, fired and ejected. The reusable polyurethane projectile conforms to the rifling of the barrel of the firearm to spin the projectile and provide equivalent accuracy to a metallic bullet. Upon impact the projectile will flatten and then rebound to the original shape. Standard re-loading mechanisms can be used to install the projectile back into a prepared cartridge. The reusable projectile is fabricated from a casting process that increases the resistance of the polyurethane from melting when the hot gun gunpowder pushes the reusable projectile out of the barrel of the gun.

AUTO-SEGMENTING SPHERICAL PROJECTILE
20170211918 · 2017-07-27 ·

Described are spherical projectiles such as used in birdshot, buckshot, or single ball spherical projectiles, including slugs, muzzle loading projectiles, or any close-to-bore diameter projectile, that is auto-segmenting or self-segmenting upon impact with a target. The projectile or shot disclosed herein retains its shape and structure during flight until impact with soft tissue, whereupon its individual sections separate or segment in a controllable manner, each portion of the projectile imparting or depositing a high amount energy to the tissue and target. The auto-segmenting spherical projectiles can be frangible or non-frangible. This disclosure also provides cartridges such as shotshells that are loaded with the projectiles described herein.

A frangible projectile includes a sintered mass of a plurality of copper or copper alloy plated iron or iron alloy core particles.

Ammunition for providing a multilayer flowering upon impact
09702677 · 2017-07-11 · ·

The disclosed ammunition is adapted for flowering into a plurality of sections upon impact with a body or object. The ammunition comprises a cylindrical casing, a charge disposed within the cylindrical casing and cylindrical projectile, defining a first portion within the casing and a second portion extending from the casing. The projectile comprises a projectile body and projectile jacket. The projectile jacket is disposed about at least a portion of the projectile body. The projectile body and/or the projectile jacket each define a leading end and a plurality of radially arrayed score lines formed therein, extending from the leading end. Upon impact, the projectile body and/or the projectile jacket flower into a plurality of radially arrayed sections, the sections being defined by the score lines formed in the projectile body and/or the projectile jacket.

LONGITUDINALLY SECTIONED FIREARMS PROJECTILES
20170176156 · 2017-06-22 ·

The present invention relates to longitudinally sectioned bullets and methods that pertain to a penetrable projectile structured to be discharged from a firearm and comprising at least two separable and penetrable, non-fused individual longitudinal body sections and at least one exterior binding element, including at the frontal region of said penetrable projectile, that holds the at least two non-fused individual longitudinal body sections together until they rupture inside of a target, thereby causing the penetrable individual longitudinal body sections to separate away from each other inside of the target as the projectile penetrates the target. The penetrable projectile is thus capable of controlled fragmentation against a soft target, and is optionally adapted to deliver at least one supplemental payload to a target to further damage said target.
