A turbine wheel for a turbine of a turbocharger. The turbine wheel includes a plurality of turbine blades distributed evenly about the axis of rotation; and a plurality of inter-blade portions distributed evenly about the axis of rotation. Each of the inter-blade portions is disposed between two blades and each of the blades is disposed between two inter-blade portions, the inter-blade portions and the turbine blades being integrally formed. A cross-section, taken along a plane normal to the axis of rotation, of a surface of each inter-blade portion of the plurality of inter-blade portions being described by a smooth curve extending between the two turbines blades of the plurality of turbine blades between which the inter-blade portion is disposed. In some cases, the smooth curve of each inter-blade portion is described by a curve fitted to a biomimicry design form extending between the first blade and the second blade.

COMPRESSOR ROTOR BLADE AIRFOILS

A rotor blade includes an airfoil having an airfoil shape. The airfoil shape has a nominal profile substantially in accordance with Cartesian coordinate values of X, Y and Z set forth in Table I. The Cartesian coordinate values of X, Y and Z are non-dimensional values from 0% to 100% convertible to dimensional distances expressed in a unit of distance by multiplying the Cartesian coordinate values of X, Y and Z by a scaling factor of the airfoil in the unit of distance. The X and Y values, when connected by smooth continuing arcs, define airfoil profile sections at each Z value. The airfoil profile sections at Z values are joined smoothly with one another to form a complete airfoil shape.

PROPULSOR FAN ARRAY

A propulsor fan array having reduced noise emission is disclosed. The propulsor fan array includes a plurality of propulsor fans that collectively generate thrust. Each of the propulsor fans include a blade fan having a plurality of blades. The plurality of blades are tensioned at tips of the plurality of blade fans such that a pitch of the blades during thrust generation is substantially the same as a pitch of the blades at rest. By tensioning the tips of the blades, an angle of the blades is maintained during operation of the propulsor fan thereby reducing noise that may result from changes in the angle of the blades.

TURBINE BLADE TIP SHROUD WITH AXIALLY OFFSET CUTTER TEETH, AND RELATED SURFACE PROFILES AND METHOD

A turbine blade tip shroud has a first cutter tooth extending from a tip rail from one of the upstream side and the downstream side of the tip rail and adjacent the leading edge of the body. The tip shroud also includes a second cutter tooth extending from the tip rail from the other side of the tip rail at a position axially distant from the first cutter tooth. The cutter teeth are thus axially offset. The tip shroud can be initially manufactured with this shape or may be modified from a used tip shroud having, for example, opposing cutter teeth near a leading edge of a body of the tip shroud. Various tip shroud surface profiles, which are expressed in terms of Cartesian coordinates, are also provided.

Low-noise blade for an open rotor

A blade for an open rotor includes a pressure side and a suction side, the pressure side and the suction side intersecting at a leading edge and a trailing edge, wherein for at least 30% of a span of the blade, the meanline of the airfoil section is shaped such that a relative curvature parameter is greater than 1.75 in a first region, less than 0.75 in a second region, and greater than 1.2 in a third region, wherein the relative curvature parameter of a region is defined by Δζ.sub.n/Δζ.sub.tot/Δ(x/c).sub.n wherein ζ corresponds to the inverse tangent of the slope of a meanline curve, subscript n indicates the region, and x/c is a chordwise location normalized by the chord, and wherein the first region comprises at least x/c=0.0 to 0.10 and the third region comprises at least x/c=0.85 to 1.0.

Airfoil with rib having connector arms

An airfoil includes an airfoil wall that defines a leading end, a trailing end, and first and second sides that join the leading end and the trailing end. A rib connects the first and second sides of the airfoil wall. The rib defines a tube portion that circumscribes a rib passage, and first and second connector arms that solely join the tube portion to, respectively, the first and second sides of the airfoil wall.

Airfoil profile for a turbine blade

An airfoil profile for a turbine blade of a gas turbine is provided. The turbine blade may include an airfoil portion having an uncoated nominal profile substantially in accordance with Cartesian coordinate values of X, Y, and Z set forth in Table 1, wherein the X, Y, and Z coordinates are distances in inches measured in a Cartesian coordinate system, the corresponding X and Y coordinates, when connected by a smooth continuous arc, define one of a plurality of airfoil profile sections at each Z distance, and the plurality of airfoil profile sections, when joined together by smooth continuous arcs, define an airfoil shape.

Compressor stator vane airfoils

A stator vane includes an airfoil having an airfoil shape. The airfoil shape has a nominal profile substantially in accordance with Cartesian coordinate values of X, Y and Z set forth in one of Table I, Table II, Table III, Table IV, Table V, Table VI, Table VII, or Table VIII.
