System and method for guiding compressible gas flowing through a duct
A guide vane within an annular inlet duct of a gas-turbine engine provides for generating swirl within an annular inlet duct so as to provide for reducing the rate of deceleration of the inlet air flow within the annular inlet duct while providing for diffusion of the meridional component of velocity thereof.
Diffuser with exhaust shroud
Disclosed is a pressurization air conditioning arrangement, the arrangement having: a turbine including a housing and a rotor within the housing, wherein the rotor is a dual scroll and including an inner shroud separating a first set of rotor blades from a second set of rotor blades; a diffuser extending from an exhaust of the turbine; and an exhaust shroud within the diffuser, the exhaust shroud dividing the diffuser into an inner diffuser passage and an outer diffuser passage.
ENGINE ARTICLE WITH INTEGRAL LINER AND NOZZLE
A core engine article includes a combustor liner defining a combustion chamber therein and a turbine nozzle. The combustor liner includes a plurality of injector ports, and the plurality of injector ports have a shape that tapers to a corner on a forward side of the injector ports. The turbine nozzle includes a plurality of airfoils. The combustor liner and turbine nozzle are integral with one another. A method of making a core engine article is also disclosed.
ROTOR CONTAINMENT STRUCTURE
A containment structure for a rotor includes a shroud and a shroud reinforcement. The shroud is coaxial with and partially surrounds the rotor and includes a tubular section, a transition section, and a flange section. The tubular section extends axially past a first side of the rotor. The transition section connects to the tubular section and is adjacent to a curved side of the rotor. The flange section connects to the transition section opposite the tubular section. The flange section extends radially past a radially outer side of the rotor. The shroud reinforcement is connected to a radially outer surface of the transition section. The shroud reinforcement encloses the transition section and includes a support scaffold and a reinforcing material. The support scaffold includes a series of geometric retaining features encircling a radially outer surface of the transition section. The reinforcing material couples to the support scaffold and restricts shroud radial expansion.
Fixed vane turbocharger
A fixed vane turbocharger includes: an impeller; a housing including, inside thereof, an impeller housing space which accommodates the impeller, a scroll flow passage formed on a radially outer side of the impeller, and a communication flow passage which brings the impeller housing space and the scroll flow passage into communication; and at least one fixed vane unit disposed in the communication flow passage and fixed to a portion of the housing on an inner side of the scroll flow passage with respect to a radial direction of the impeller. Each of the at least one fixed vane unit includes at least two vane portions and a coupling portion coupling the two vane portions, and is formed of a single sheet metal member.
Constant-volume combustion system comprising a rotating closure element with segmented apertures
A constant-volume combustion system for a turbomachine includes a plurality of combustion chambers distributed in an annular manner about an axis defining an axial direction, each combustion chamber including an intake port and an exhaust port; a selective closure member rotationally movable about the axis with respect to the combustion chambers, the selective closure member including a ferrule facing the intake and exhaust ports of the combustion chambers, the ferrule containing at least one intake aperture intended to cooperate with the exhaust port of each chamber and at least one exhaust aperture intended to cooperate with the exhaust port of each chamber. Each intake aperture and each exhaust aperture are segmented by at least one segment extending in each aperture in the axial direction.
TWIN SCROLL TURBINE HOUSING
A turbine assembly can include a turbine housing that defines a longitudinal axis and that includes a first scroll and a first tongue at a first angle about the longitudinal axis and a second scroll and a second tongue at a second angle about the longitudinal axis, where an angular span between the first angle and the second angle is greater than 1 degree and less than 180 degrees; and a first set of vanes and a second set of vanes disposed in the turbine housing, where a vane of the first set of vanes is aligned with the first tongue and a vane of the second set of vanes is aligned with the second tongue.
Turbocharger
A turbocharger includes a first scroll member made of sheet metal, extending in a circumferential direction of an impeller shaft, having an opening that is opened to the bearing housing, and forming a part of a wall surface of the first turbine scroll passage, a second scroll member made of sheet metal, extending in the circumferential direction of the impeller shaft, having an opening that is opened to the bearing housing, and forming a part of a wall surface of the second turbine scroll passage, and a closing member closing the opening of the first scroll member and forming the wall surface of the first turbine scroll passage on the side thereof adjacent to the bearing housing, and closing the opening of the second scroll member and forming the wall surface of the second turbine scroll passage on the side thereof adjacent to the bearing housing.
