Arrangement and method for connecting fluid-conducting components, more particularly in the exhaust gas line of a motor vehicle

The invention relates to an arrangement (100) for connecting a first fluid-conducting component (110) to a second fluid-conducting component (120), more particularly in the exhaust gas line of a motor vehicle, having a seal (130), which seals the components (110, 120) at the connecting point, and having a band clamp (140), which encloses the components (110, 120) at the connecting point and attaches the components (110, 120) to each other. According to the invention, the seal (130) is formed with a tab (131), which protrudes at the connecting point after the components (110, 120) have been connected and is visible through a separation joint (141) of the band clamp (140). The invention further relates to a corresponding method for connecting a first fluid-conducting component (110) to a second fluid-conducting component (120).

A replacement kit enables a user to generate a desired audible sound from an exhaust system of a motor vehicle. The kit includes a replacement catalytic converter arranged to replace the vehicle's original equipment catalytic converter. The replacement catalytic converter is connected to the vehicle's factory muffler through a replacement pipe segment to obtain a more desirable, yet muffled engine sound. The factory muffler may be removed from the motor vehicle and the replacement catalytic converter may instead be connected to a muffler bypass pipe or pipes or replacement exhaust components/segments which channels the exhaust flow directly to the atmosphere to obtain a more powerful unmuffled exciting visceral sports car engine sound.

Device for ensuring the installation of a component at the designated installation location of said component

A device is described for ensuring the installation of a component at the designated installation location of said component in a system, made up of two parts, the first part of the device being attached to the component, and the second part of the device being attached to the system to which the component will be attached, and, during installation of the component into the system at the designated installation location of said component, the first part of the device and the second part of the device interlock precisely and enable assembly, in that the first part of the device and the second part of the device interact exclusively mechanically and exclusively enable the ensuring of the installation of the component at the designated installation location of the component in the system. When installing the component at a non-designated installation location on the system, the interaction of the first part of the device and the second part of the device, which form a poka-yoke system with each other, prevents installation.

EXHAUST GAS TREATMENT ASSEMBLY

An exhaust gas treatment assembly for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine includes a housing having a circumferential wall and at least one base wall which in an external circumferential region is connected to the circumferential wall. In a housing interior space, which is defined by the circumferential wall and the base wall, at least one exhaust gas treatment unit is positioned so as to be removable from the housing. At least one base wall is an interchangeable base wall which is releasably connected to the circumferential wall via a connection assembly. The connection assembly includes a first connection portion, a first axial support portion, and on the base wall includes a second connection portion which via at least one connection member is releasably connected to the first connection portion and a second axial support portion is supported on the first axial support portion.

An X-pipe for an automotive engine exhaust system is made from a pair of 3-inch diameter metal pipes, each formed with a central bend and a pair of outboard bends. Each pipe is formed to have an oval-shaped central opening, and the two pipes are welded together along a central plane at the oval-shaped central openings. The resulting X-pipe may then be welded into an exhaust system and then installed on a vehicle with an internal combustion engine, and reduces rasp on startup, harmonizes exhaust flow between the cylinder banks on the engine, and improves tonal pleasantness of the exhaust note.

A connection element for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine includes a connection element body extending in the direction of a connection element longitudinal axis. An inner circumferential surface of the connection element body delimits an exhaust gas passage of the connection element and a connecting flange extends radially outward from the connection element body and surrounds the longitudinal axis. The connecting flange has an abutment surface oriented in the direction of a first axial end of the connection element body. A section of the connection element body defines the first axial end thereof. A centering section has a centering outer circumferential surface and a depression surrounds the longitudinal axis and has a depression surface which is offset axially in the direction away from the first axial end with respect to the abutment surface.

Method for installing inlet pipe and method for supporting inlet pipe

A disposing method for an inlet pipe in a muffler that includes an outer shell, an inlet pipe, and a separating plate, the disposing method comprising: a first step of inserting the inlet pipe into the outer shell from an opening at one end of the outer shell; a second step of disposing the inlet pipe by moving the inlet pipe within the outer shell in a direction substantially orthogonal to the direction of insertion of the inlet pipe; and a third step of disposing the separating plate by inserting the separating plate into the outer shell from the opening at the other end of the outer shell.
