Method And System For Controlling Pressure In A Tuned Pipe Of A Two Stroke Engine
An engine system and method of operating the same includes a two stroke engine, an exhaust manifold coupled to the two-stroke engine, a tuned pipe coupled to the exhaust manifold coupled to the exhaust manifold, a stinger pipe coupled to the tuned pipe, a silencer coupled to the tuned pipe and an exhaust pipe, and an exhaust bypass valve. Exhaust gases are directed from the two stroke engine through an exhaust manifold and through a tuned pipe. An opening of the exhaust bypass valve is changed to redirect exhaust gases away from the tuned pipe to change a pressure within the tuned pipe. In response to changing the opening of the exhaust bypass valve, the airflow through the engine is changed.

Based on the determination of the level of accumulation of Sift in the aftertreatment system by the controller, the controller outputs a signal to a notification device for facilitating the notification device to notify an operator of the level of accumulation of SiO.sub.2 in the aftertreatment system.
Method for Assessing a Condition of a Particulate Filter and Exhaust System for a Motor Vehicle
In a method for assessing a condition of a particulate filter for use in an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle, a difference between a pressure exerted on the input side of the particulate filter and a pressure exerted on the output side of the particulate filter is recorded by a differential pressure sensor. The difference in pressure is taken into account when assessing the condition. Furthermore, the pressure exerted on the output side of the particulate filter in relation to the atmospheric pressure is recorded by a relative pressure sensor. When assessing the condition of the particulate filter, the pressure recorded by the relative pressure sensor is also taken into account. A frequency of changes in pressure and/or an amplitude load of the pressure is assessed. The invention also relates to an exhaust system for a motor vehicle.
