Internal combustion engine for a motor vehicle
An internal combustion engine for a motor vehicle has at least one cylinder for accommodating a piston and at least one pre-chamber spark plug allocated to the combustion chamber of the cylinder. The engine also has a pre-chamber, fluidically connected with the combustion chamber via several openings, in which at least one ignition spark is generable by the pre-chamber spark plug. At the induction stroke of the internal combustion engine, a rinsing of the pre-chamber with inlet gas including at least fuel and air occurs, so that, at the ignition point, an ignitable mixture of fuel and air is accommodated in the pre-chamber.
Pre-chamber spark plug for a combustion chamber of a combustion engine, combustion engine, and motor vehicle
A pre-chamber spark plug for a combustion chamber of a combustion engine includes a pre-chamber which has a plurality of openings and an electrode device which is disposed in the pre-chamber. An ignition spark for igniting a fuel-air mixture introduced into the pre-chamber is generatable at a spark location in the pre-chamber by the electrode device. The pre-chamber spark plug is configured to bring about a tumble-shaped flow of fuel-air mixture flowing into the pre-chamber via the plurality of openings. The tumble-shaped flow has, in a first region of the pre-chamber, a first flow part pointing upward away from the plurality of openings, and, in a second region of the pre-chamber, a second flow part adjoining the first flow part and pointing downward in a direction of the plurality of openings. The spark location is disposed at least in part in the second region.
Methods and systems for a pre-chamber
Methods and systems are provided for a pre-chamber. In one example, a pre-chamber comprises a plurality of venturi passages fluidly coupling it to a primary combustion chamber. The plurality of venturi passages may be configured to assist in drawing out residual gases from a previous combustion event during a current combustion event.
Pre-chamber assembly
A pre-chamber assembly of an internal combustion engine comprises a pre-chamber housing and a plurality of nozzles extending through a portion of the pre-chamber housing. The plurality of nozzles are directed to one location.
Ignition insert with an active pre-chamber
The ignition insert with an active pre-chamber (1) comprises an insert well (72) arranged in a cylinder head (3) of an internal combustion engine (2), said well (72) accommodating a cylindrical insert body (70) which is indexed in rotation and in which are arranged an ignition pre-chamber (71), an insert spark plug well (83) receiving a spark plug (12), and a injector radial orifice (88) which is aligned with a injector lateral well (73) arranged in the cylinder head (3) so as to receive an injector nose (16), said body (70) being terminated by a pre-chamber nose (75) opening into a combustion chamber (5), and being held in the insert well (72) by fixing means (82) cooperating with clamping means (74).
COMBUSTION PRE-CHAMBER DEVICE FOR AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
A combustion pre-chamber device for a spark ignition internal combustion engine is configured to engage a spark plug and be mounted to a cylinder head in communication with a combustion chamber of a cylinder of the engine. The combustion pre-chamber device includes any one or combination of a number of features to improve operating effectiveness, including extending the combustion operating range by improving cooling and optimizing the flow field inside the combustion pre-chamber device.
Feed and Ignition Device for a Gas Engine and Method for Operating a Feed and Ignition Device for a Gas Engine
A feed and ignition device for a gas engine has an injector for the direct blowing-in of a combustion gas into a combustion chamber of the gas engine. The device also has a pre-combustion chamberto which a fuel can be introduced and a plurality of overflow openings distributed in the peripheral direction of the injector over the periphery of the feed and ignition device via which the pre-combustion chamber can be directly connected fluidically to the combustion chamber. A spark ignition device ignites a fuel-air mixture including at least the fuel introduced into the pre-combustion chamber. The pre-combustion chamber, the overflow openings, and the spark ignition device are formed by a first structural unit and the injector is formed by a second structural unit formed separately from the first structural unit.
Internal combustion engine with shrouded injection valve and precombustion chamber system
An engine is provided. In one embodiment, the engine includes a precombustion chamber having a body, a secondary combustion chamber disposed at least partially in the body, and a plurality of passages configured to place the precombustion chamber in fluid communication with a main combustion chamber.
PRE-CHAMBER ASSEMBLY
A pre-chamber assembly of an internal combustion engine comprises a pre-chamber housing and a plurality of nozzles extending through a portion of the pre-chamber housing. The plurality of nozzles are directed to one location.
