20170340911 · 2017-11-30 ·

A thermal trigger assembly for remote mechanical actuation of another fire protection system component includes an activation component having a base and a movable member. A bias member biases the movable member from a preactivation to an activated position with respect to the base. A thermally responsive element retains the movable member in the preactivation position until a predetermined thermodynamic condition is reached, when the thermally responsive element loses structural integrity. A flexible connector includes a flexible hollow outer cable housing with one end configured to be stationarily (preferably fixedly) connected with the base. A flexible cable is inside the outer cable housing for sliding movement therein and has one end configured to be stationarily (preferably fixedly) connected with the movable member. The flexible cable is moved with respect to the outer cable housing by movement of the movable member upon loss of structural integrity by the thermally responsive element.

A valve assembly for controlling the release or delivery of a fire suppression medium from a vessel, the assembly comprising an inlet connectable to a pressurised vessel, an outlet connectable to a delivery device, a valve operable to selectively open or close fluid communication between the inlet and the outlet, an opening device for moving the valve from a closed condition to an open condition, first and second actuators and an environmental triggering device, wherein the opening device is operable, in use, remotely by the first actuator or manually by the second actuator or automatically by the environmental triggering device. A fire suppression system employing the above-described valve and a vehicle including the fire suppression system also form a part of this invention.

Plumbing Fixture Fluid Diversion Assembly
20170299064 · 2017-10-19 ·

A plumbing fixture fluid diversion assembly minimizes dripping from an outlet conduit of a spout body by restricting passage of accumulated fluid through the outlet conduit. The assembly comprises a hollow spout body having an inlet conduit that carries fluid to a diversion chamber. The diversion chamber is in communication with the inlet conduit and the outlet conduit. A routing notch helps control the flow of the fluid towards a chamber opening that is disposed between the diversion chamber and the outlet conduit. The chamber opening enables passage of fluid to the outlet conduit. A flap selectively covers and uncovers the chamber opening to control dripping from the outlet conduit. The assembly generates an initial force to at least partially urge the flap towards the chamber opening for covering by pulling a cable, displacing magnet proximal to the flap, or creating a vacuum to displace the flap.

Hydraulic valve assembly and clutch actuating device

A hydraulic valve assembly (1) with a housing (18) and with a spool (2) which is rotatable in the housing (18). The spool comprising a pressure supply orifice (3) and at least one clutch actuating orifice (4, 5) which is connectable to a clutch actuating cylinder (6, 7). The spool (2) comprises a pressure release orifice (8) which is arranged at the spool (2) so that the pressure release orifice (8) is closed by rotational movement of the spool (2) while the clutch actuating orifice (4, 5) is opened by such rotational movement. The invention further relates to a clutch actuating device with such a hydraulic valve assembly (1) and a corresponding marine propulsion system.

Mechanical overfill prevention valve insertable within a fill pipe
11428343 · 2022-08-30 · ·

An overfill prevention valve cooperative with a standpipe includes a plug, float, and seat that do not exceed the standpipe in diameter. The valve and standpipe can be inserted into a liquid holding tank from below. Rising liquid lifts the float and plug until the plug is sealed against the seat. The float can be above the seat and connected to the plug by a rod penetrating centrally through the seat. A check valve can enable draining of the holding tank when the liquid is withdrawn from the standpipe. The holding tank can be a fuel tank of a liquid fuel burning torch. A central reservoir system can automatically fill a plurality of holding tanks having the disclosed valves installed therein and connected in series by a plumbing system. Filling can be automatically terminated when a backpressure within the plumbing system exceeds a specified threshold.

PNEUMATIC-HYDRAULIC TYPE CONTROL VALVE

A pneumatic-hydraulic type control valve includes a cable attached to a fixed base, a valve base disposed in the fixed base, and a valve stem disposed in the valve base and driven by the cable to be opened. First and second oil guiding holes of the valve base communicate with each other when the valve stem is opened, and the first and second oil guiding holes of the valve base do not communicate with each other when the valve stem is closed. Further, the valve stem has a first stressed portion for bearing a fluid closing force and a second stressed portion for bearing a fluid opening force. The outer diameter of the first stressed portion is larger than that of the second stressed portion. Thus, the present invention achieves effects of simplifying structure and accurate actuation without affecting the sealing effect.

Pressure relief device

A pressure relief valve configured to vent a pressurized tank in the event of a fire is provided. The pressure relief valve includes a body, a vent passage, a plug and a latch. The vent passage is disposed through the body. The vent passage can be placed in fluid communication with an internal volume of a tank and with the atmosphere. The plug is moveably mounted in the vent passage. The latch has a blocking member disposed in contact with a control end of the plug in a first configuration and out of contact with the control end in a second configuration. The second configuration allows movement of the plug in the vent passage. One or both of a shape memory alloy wire and a trigger piston is configured to actuate the latch from the first to the second configuration. The shape memory alloy wire is configured to shorten when exposed to a temperature above a threshold temperature. The trigger piston moves, e.g., by a pressurized gas, in a trigger actuation passage to actuate the latch from the first configuration to the second configuration.
