Method and Control Unit for Monitoring a Pressure Tank System

A method monitors a pressure tank system of a stationary vehicle. The method detects a wake-up situation by use of sensor data of a main sensor of the vehicle. Furthermore, in reaction to the detection of a wake-up situation, the method activates a further resource for detecting and/or for evaluating sensor data with regard to the pressure tank system. Moreover, the method determines, by use of the further resource, whether one or more protective measures are to be carried out in relation to the pressure tank system and/or the surroundings thereof.

A method of distributing an electrically insulating liquefied gas mixture to high-voltage electrical equipment from a storage means containing an insulating gas mixture, including: heating the insulating gas mixture to a temperature such that the contents of the storage means are a homogeneous fluid; and withdrawing the insulating mixture resulting from step a) to fill high-voltage electrical equipment by raising the temperature of the mixture resulting from step a), wherein, during step b), a set value for regulation is applied at variable pressure, calculated in real time based on weighing the storage means, when the change in the set value of pressure is less than 0.2 bar per 1 kg/m.sup.3 of change in density, and then a set value for regulation is applied at constant temperature until the storage means is emptied of its content.

Underwater energy storage using compressed fluid

A compressed fluid energy storage system includes a submersible fluid containment subsystem charged with a compressed working fluid and submerged and ballasted in a body of water, with the fluid containment subsystem having a substantially flat portion closing a domed portion. The system also includes a compressor and an expander disposed to compress and expand the working fluid. The fluid containment subsystem is at least in part flexible, and includes an upper portion for storing compressed energy fluid and a lower portion for ballast material. The lower portion may be tapered proximate the flat portion to prevent it from being collapsed by ballast materials. The region between the fluid and the ballast has exchange ports to communicate water between the inside and outside of the containment subsystem. In other embodiments, an open-bottomed fluid containment system is held in position underneath a ballast system by a tensegrity structure.

Provided is an energy storage structure, comprising a housing and a piston. An accommodating cavity and a piston cylinder part communicating with each other are arranged within the housing. The piston is slidably and sealingly arranged within the piston cylinder part for transferring impact energy. A self-pressure of an energy storage medium, arranged within the accommodating cavity and the piston cylinder part, acts on the piston, tending to push the piston to move. An energy storage structure provided by the present invention has a simple structure, is convenient for use, and can ensure that a thrust or impact force remains unchanged or slightly changes during operation, to achieve stable release of potential energy. Moreover, the adjustment of the thrust or impact force can be achieved by changing the temperature of the energy storage medium in the accommodating cavity, thereby achieving change in total impact energy of the energy storage structure.

The invention relates to a system including a cryogenic container, in particular an LNG container or a hydrogen container, an external heat exchanger and an internal heat exchanger with a pressure management system. The system also includes at least one of the following selectively connectable bypass lines for the temporary reduction of pressure losses: a first bypass line for the first heat exchanger tube of the external heat exchanger; a second bypass line for the second heat exchanger tube; a third bypass line for the internal heat exchanger.

COMPACT INSERTS FOR CRYO-COMPRESSED STORAGE VESSELS

In one aspect, an insert including a single metal or alloy compatible with cryo-compressed tanks is disclosed. In one embodiment, the insert contains one, two, or more tubes that extend into the inner storage volume of the tank. The insert may be integrally formed with the tubes. The tubes enable the entrance and exit of hydrogen to the inner storage volume. In one embodiment, the tank includes a boss suitable to accept the insert. The boss and the insert may be the same metal. The insert may minimize the number of welds suitable for use in on-board heavy duty storage applications. Overall, this type of insert decreases the probability of hydrogen leaks, reduces the cost of the insert as only one piece is required, and leads to faster manufacturing as fewer welds are required.
