PURIFICATION OF TOBACCO-DERIVED PROTEIN COMPOSITIONS

The disclosure describes methods for the purification of protein-enriched extracts to provide concentrates and isolates and methods for incorporation of such materials into products. The purification methods are adapted for removal of nicotine and may have other benefits, e.g., lightening the color of the protein-enriched extracts. The methods generally include treatment with peracetic acid or hydrogen peroxide and filtrations. A protein composition in the form of a concentrate or isolate is provided, the protein composition including RuBisCO, F2 fraction proteins, or combination thereof extracted from a plant of the Nicotiana species, wherein the protein composition is characterized by relatively low nicotine content.

Enhanced smokable therapeutic cannabis product and method for making same

An enhanced smokable cannabis-based product produced by separating hash resin from plant material of the cannabis plant, pressing the hash resin to expel oil, leaving spent hash resin, extracting further cannabinoids from the spent hash resin using MCT oil, enriching the extracted oil with a formulation comprising at least purified-myrcene, and spraying the enriched oil onto dried smokable cannabis plant matter.

RuBisCO Protein Fibers

Ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate oxygenase (RuBisCO) protein fibers and a method of producing them are disclosed herein. The method of producing one or more RuBisCO protein fibers including obtaining RuBisCO, for example from tobacco, combining the RuBisCO with one or more plasticizers, heating the combination of the RuBisCO and the one or more plasticizers up to about 140 degrees C., filtering the heated combination through an about 20 m filter, and passing the filtered combination through an orifice to produce one or more RuBisCO protein fibers.

RuBisCO Protein-Based Films

Ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate oxygenase (RuBisCO) protein films and a method of producing RuBisCO films are disclosed herein. A method of producing one or more RuBisCO protein films includes obtaining RubBisCO, for example from tobacco, combining the RuBisCO with one or more solvents, where the one or more solvents may be about 10% w/v the RuBisCO, mixing the RuBisCO and the one or more solvents to form a slurry, heating the slurry to about 70 degrees C., cooling the slurry to at least about 45 degrees C., dispensing the slurry into one or more molds for film formation, drying the slurry in the one more molds, and removing the one or more RuBisCO protein films formed within the one or more molds.

SMOKABLE CANNABIS-BASED PRODUCT WITH REDUCED PSYCHOACTIVE EFFECTS

A method of preparing a smokable cannabis-based product with reduced psychoactive effects and method for producing the same, comprising the steps of: (a) separating portions with known low tetrahydrocannabinol content from harvested plant material of the cannabis; (b) separating plant matter which has previously been used in a cannabis oil extraction process; (c) combining specific amounts of the separated materials to produce a cannabis plant material mixture possessing a specific active cannabis compound profile using a mixing device; and (d) loading the mixture of cannabis plant material into the cylindrical smokable tube using a loading device.

ENHANCED SMOKABLE THERAPEUTIC CANNABIS PRODUCT AND METHOD FOR MAKING SAME

PROTEIN-ENRICHED TOBACCO-DERIVED COMPOSITION

The present disclosure describes methods of obtaining and/or deriving proteins from plants of the Nicotiana species and methods for incorporation of such proteins into various products. For example, a method for obtaining a protein-enriched material from a plant of the Nicotiana species or portion thereof is provided, comprising: extracting one or more proteins from the plant material into a solvent to form a liquid protein-containing extract; separating a solid extracted plant material from the liquid protein-containing extract; clarifying the liquid protein-containing extract to form a clarified protein-containing extract and a solids fraction; and treating the clarified protein-containing extract so as to provide a protein-enriched material comprising at least about 60% protein by weight.
