METHODS OF DETECTING ADENOSINE DEAMINASE DEFICIENCY
20170283850 · 2017-10-05 ·

Disclosed are new approaches to detecting adenosine deaminase (ADA) deficiency. There is provided a method of determining ADA activity, comprising: dividing a sample obtained from blood into two portions, adding an ADA inhibitor to one portion, measuring levels of ADA activity in both portions, and determining the ADA activity. Also provided is a method of measuring ADA substrate, comprising: measuring an ADA substrate in a sample obtained from blood of subject, and comparing this to at least one control sample obtained from blood and comprising an ADA inhibitor, and a known quantity of the ADA substrate. Multiplexed methods of measuring ADA enzymatic activity along with other metabolic markers are also provided. The methods are particularly useful for the analysis of samples obtained from dried blood spots (DBSs), and may be incorporated into existing newborn screening programs. Associated diagnostic methods, control samples, and apparatuses are also disclosed.

Portable Devices for Detection of Antibodies Against Therapeutic Drugs
20170285023 · 2017-10-05 ·

Portable devices for anti-drug antibodies (ADAs) testing are provided. These devices can be used in various applications, including but not restricted to the following: uniform testing of patients for ADAs; selection of therapeutic drug for patient treatment; evaluation of the need to change therapeutic drug or to apply tolerance regimens; selection of patients for clinical trials; comparison of therapeutic drugs marketed for a given disease and also gene therapy; scientific guidance for discovering therapeutic drugs; therapeutic drug development; postmarketing surveillance of therapeutic drugs.

DETECTION AND MEASUREMENT OF GRASS POLLEN PROTEINS
20170276677 · 2017-09-28 ·

Detection of grass pollen proteins such as Pas n 1, Sor h 1 and/or Cyn d 1 for the purpose of batch standardization of compositions comprising these grass pollen proteins, such as used for desensitization to these allergenic proteins. The methods may also be suitable for detecting or measuring levels of grass pollen proteins such as Pas n 1, Sor h 1 and/or Cyn d 1 in environmental samples such as air or water. Also provided is an antibody or antibody fragment engineered to bind Pas n 1 and one or a plurality of other grass pollen proteins such as Sor h 1 and/or Cyn d 1.

METHODS OF DETECTING MARKERS FOR INFLAMMATORY CONDITIONS AND FOOD SENSITIVITY IN COMPANION ANIMALS
20170248614 · 2017-08-31 ·

The present invention provides methods and systems to accurately detect and measure levels of endogenous antibodies, for examples endogenous IgA, to particular antigens in a biological sample from a companion animal, which is useful to diagnose inflammatory conditions, including bowel disease (IBD), gastrointestinal infections, and food sensitivities in companion animals, e.g., dogs or cats, and to distinguish among such gastrointestinal disorders. Such methods and systems identify whether a sample from the patient is associated with an inflammatory condition, infection, and/or food sensitivity condition, by using non-invasive means, thus conveniently providing information useful for guiding treatment decisions.

Methods of using chimeric receptors to identify autoimmune disease
09739775 · 2017-08-22 · ·

The present invention provides methods and compositions useful in the diagnosis and management of autoimmune diseases. In particular, the present invention provides improved methods and compositions for the diagnosis and management of Graves' disease. The methods of the present invention not only avoids the need for radioactivity and are much simpler, economical, and rapid than methods traditionally used for the diagnosis of Graves' disease, but also improve upon the sensitivity and detection abilities of previous luciferase-based autoantibody detection assays.

Detection of an immune response

Provided herein are methods of detecting and/or monitoring the presence or severity of an immune disorder in a subject, including detecting a frequency of a Th2a subset of CD4+ T cells in a biological sample of the subject. In some embodiments, the detecting includes: (a) detecting a frequency of CD4+ T cells in a biological sample of said subject; (b) detecting a frequency of a Th2a subset of the CD4+ T cells in the biological sample; and (c) comparing the frequency of the Th2a subset with the frequency of the CD4+ T cells.
