A personal-care applicator comprises at least one stem having a proximal end including a handle and a distal end opposite to the proximal end and at least one bristled component attached to the stem, wherein the bristled component comprises a carrier and a plurality of bristles ultrasonically welded to the carrier and outwardly extending therefrom according to a pre-determined pattern, wherein the elongated carrier and the at least first plurality of bristles comprise ultrasonically compatible materials, and wherein the bristles are ultrasonically bonded to the carrier through a direct ultrasonic bond between a surface of the carrier and a lengthwise portion of each of the bristles. Process comprises providing at least one elongated stem having a proximal end and a distal end, providing the at least one bristled component, and attaching the at least one bristled component to the at least first stem.

The present invention relates to an device for applying a flowing or paste-like product to keratin fibers, comprising an elongate central core (1) extending along a longitudinal axis XX, at least one row of elongate bristles (2) comprising a first end (20) embedded on the core and a second, free end (21), the bristles (2) and the core (1) being made in one piece. According to the invention, at least one of bristles has a flattened shape in a plane substantially perpendicular to axis XX, said at least one bristle being defined in a front view by a first ridge (25) that is continuously convex or concave from the base (20) thereof embedded in the core (1) up to the second end (21), and by a second ridge (26) consecutively concave and convex from the base (20) thereof embedded in the core up to the second end (21), the first and second ridges meeting at the free end (21). The bristles have a slit (24) in the body thereof for defining a first (22) and a second (23) side flank arranged opposite one another. Two bristles consecutively rooted along the length of the applicator may form at least one distal opening (30) between one another.

A cosmetic applicator for applying a cosmetic or care product includes an applicator member retained at a distal end of a stem. The applicator member comprising an applicator head including: a first part having a cavity which is not a through cavity, and a second part that is connected to the first part by a hinge and is at least partially engaged in the housing of the first part. A brush includes a core wire section having a proximal end and a distal end and a plurality of discs received on the core wire section, the plurality of discs defining a brush head. The brush head is shaped by at least one of trimming the plurality of discs of the brush head and/or bending a portion of the core wire section.
