An analysis method includes: obtaining nm pieces of map data by repeating, m times, a map measurement in which n pieces of map data are obtained by scanning a specimen with a primary probe to detect electrons emitted from the specimen with an electron spectrometer, while measurement energy ranges of an analyzer are varied; and generating a spectral map in which a position on the specimen is associated with a spectrum based on the nm pieces of map data, the measurement energy ranges of m times of the map measurement not overlapping each other.
PORTABLE PLANT HEALTH ANALYSIS SYSTEM AND METHOD
A portable apparatus for analyzing a plant specimen. A housing assembly defines a sensing volume and controls entry of ambient light into the sensing volume when the housing is closed. A specimen support positions a plant specimen within the sensing volume whereby light emitted from at least one light emitter is incident upon the plant specimen. An image sensor senses light from the at least one light emitter that has been incident on the plant specimen. A processor analyzes data obtained from the light sensor to assess one or more properties of the plant specimen. There may be more than one light emitter, e.g., a halogen lamp and LED array, and the apparatus may acquire images under more than one lighting condition. The apparatus may include a mechanism for moving the plant specimen relative to the optical path to take images at multiple regions of interest on the specimen.

Provided are a device for analyzing a large-area sample based on an image, a device for analyzing a sample based on an image by using a difference in medium characteristic, and a method for measuring and analyzing a sample by using the same. The device for analyzing a large-area sample includes a first sensor array including a plurality of sensors which are disposed while being spaced apart from each other in a first direction, a second sensor array including a plurality of sensors, which are disposed while being spaced apart from each other in the first direction, and spaced apart from the first sensor array in a second direction, and a control unit to obtain image data for a cell included in the sample by using sensing data of the sensor on the sample, in which the sample is interposed between the first sensor array and the second sensor array. An active area of one of the sensor in the first sensor array overlaps an active area of one of the sensors in the second sensor array, in the second direction.
Multi-Modal Diagnostic Test Apparatus
A multi-modal diagnostic test reading apparatus, comprising: a diagnostic test assembly receiving component; at least one image sensor; a plurality of light sources having respective different spectral properties; and a controller; wherein the controller is configured to: (i) control operation of the light sources and the at least one image sensor to acquire a plurality of images, each of the acquired images representing at least a corresponding portion of the diagnostic test assembly as illuminated by a corresponding one of the light sources; and (ii) process the acquired images to determine a diagnostic test result of the diagnostic test, the diagnostic test result being dependent upon the processed images representing illumination by respective ones of the light sources having respective different spectral properties.

In a defect inspection device that irradiates a surface of a sample or a surface of a pattern chip with an illumination light shaped to extend in a first direction, and detects a scattered light generated from the surface of the sample or the surface of the pattern chip by the illumination light to detect a defect on the surface of the sample, the pattern chip has a dot pattern area in which multiple dots are arrayed in multiple rows and multiple columns, a minimum interval between the dots corresponding to the lines aligned in the first direction among the multiple dots arrayed in the dot pattern area in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction is smaller than a width of the illumination light, and a minimum interval between the multiple dots arrayed in the dot pattern area is larger than a resolution of the detection optical system.
TERAHERTZ SPECTROSCOPY AND IMAGING IN DYNAMIC ENVIRONMENTS
Embodiments are disclosed for terahertz spectroscopy and imaging in dynamic environments. In an embodiment, a transmitter of an electronic device emits a continuous electromagnetic (EM) wave in the terahertz (THz) frequency band into a dynamic environment that includes a transmission medium that changes over time. A receiver of the electronic device, receives an EM wave reflected off an object in the environment and determines a spectral response of the reflected EM wave. The spectral response includes absorption spectra at a frequency in the THz frequency band that is indicative of a known target transmission medium. The absorption spectra of the target transmission medium and a path length of the reflected EM wave signal are used to obtain the concentration level of the target transmission medium from a reference library of known concentration levels.
PORTABLE SINGLE UNIT DEVICE FOR OCHRATOXIN A (OTA) TOXICITY ANALYSIS FOR RICE QUALITY MONITORING
A single unit, handheld field portable apparatus and method for analyzing Ochratoxin A (OTA) in rice quality monitoring, based on fluorescence signal output. Aliquots may be analyzed by adding at least one or more reagents to the sample aliquot that reacts selectively with an analyte contained therein. The reaction product, which is selective for the analyte of interest and proportional to its concentration, is measured with an appropriate detector. This enables simple and accurate testing of samples using time honored wet-chemical analysis method in microliter volume regimes while producing remarkably small volumes of waste. The device includes a multipurpose controller board for processing and analysis purpose, a camera which is integrated with the controller, a resistive touch liquid crystal display to view the results, a light emitting diode to emit the UV light, and a power bank. The device may operate using a touch display.
