WEARABLE NEAR-TO-EYE VISION SYSTEMS

Users exploiting near-to-eye (NR2I) displays for augmented reality and/or correction of low vision are typically wearing these NR2I displays for specific tasks or for extended periods of time, potentially all their time awake. Conflicting tradeoffs between user comfort and minimal fatigue and strain during use, ease of attachment, minimizing intrusiveness and aesthetics should be concurrently balanced with providing an optical vision system that provides the user with a wide field of view, high image resolution, and a large exit pupil for eye placement with sufficient eye clearance. Accordingly, embodiments of the invention provide NR2I displays meeting these conflicts whilst also addressing the inherent variations between user in respect of their head dimensions, head and eye geometry, as well as adapting the displayed content to reflect the user's task at-hand, visual defects or degradations, visual focus and intent upon various regions-of-interest within their field of view. Such HMDs providing enhanced user experiences.

Interchangeable hinge for modular eyewear

An eyewear hinge system for connecting an eyeglass chassis to a face securing means. The hinge system is an elastomeric component having a connection end to a chassis and a connection end to a temple or headband. In some embodiments, the chassis and temple connection ends are T-shaped protruding flanges and the chassis and temple have corresponding T-shaped cavities for removable receipt of same, respectively. In other embodiments, the band connection end has an opening to receive a band. The hinge may be curved at rest and have two V-shaped narrowings on an outer side of the hinge to allow greater folding capabilities when in use or not in use. A band hinge, a temple hinge, a chassis, a temple, and a band form a sports eyewear system having interchangeability features for different uses. A method of assembly using the disclosed eyewear hinge system.

Apparatuses, systems and methods for wearable devices such as eyewear are described. According to one embodiment, the wearable device can include a frame, a temple, electronics, and a linkage assembly. The frame can have two opposing connection portions and the temple can be adapted to selectively interface with one of the two connection portions. The electronics can be mounted to at least one of the temple and the frame. The linkage assembly can be pivotally coupled at a first end portion to the temple and pivotally coupled at a second end portion to the one of the two connection portions. The linkage assembly can be configured for movement of the temple between a wearable position and a folded position.

Spectacle having two temples which are each articulated via a pivot connection to an optical central section which covers the field of vision in the position of use and can be pivoted from a storage state, in which the temples are applied to the optical central section, to an operating state, in which the temples are folded out from the central section, the optical central section being manufactured from a flexurally elastic material. The two temples are each articulated to the central section via a curved pivot axis of the pivot connection or via at least two linear pivot axes of the pivot connection arranged transversely to one another. In this way, glasses can be produced in which, in the position of use, light entering laterally, which does not cross the optical central section but nevertheless reaches the eye of the wearer, is largely suppressed.

The invention relates to an eyewear frame, comprising a forehead part with two ends and arranged to extend around the eyes of a user when worn and two temple parts each extending rearwardly from a front of the eyewear frame, and from each end of the forehead part. The forehead part and the temple part being moulded together in a single mould from a first polymer material and comprising a plastic hinge located at the junction of each end of the forehead part and each temple part, said plastic hinge being formed by a region of the polymer material having thickness which is significantly less than the thickness of corresponding forehead part ends and temple parts adjacent the plastic hinge region, such that the temple parts may be moved about the plastic hinge with respect to the forehead part between an open position in which the eyewear may be worn on a user's head, and a closed position in which the temple parts are arranged approximately parallel to the forehead part and the eyewear may be more conveniently stowed when not in use. The plastic hinges exert a restoring force which urges the temple parts of the frame to either the closed or open position, such that the eye wear frame automatically folds back to the folded position after use, or automatically opens to the open position. The plastic hinge may be formed as a curved strip. The eyewear frame may be co-moulded with the first polymer material and a second polymer material, having a lower modulus of elasticity, or flexural modulus, than the first polymer.

Eyewear and flexible elements

The present disclosure relates to eyewear, such as eyeglasses, configured for receiving a hose, such as a medical gas therapy hose. The eyewear comprises flexible elements and a groove defined in and extending through the flexible elements and other parts of the eyewear. The present disclosure further relates to a flexible element, such as a hinge, which may be used in eyewear to enable bending of parts of the eyewear. An exemplary embodiment of the flexible element is a hinge having a plurality of repeating units.

Hinge between a frame and a temple of spectacles

A hinge (4) between a frame (2) and a temple (3) of spectacles, rendering it possible for the temples (3) of the spectacles to be in a use and a store position, respectively. At least one electrical or optical cable (14) or wire is running between the frame and the temple, wherein the at least one cable or wire (14) will aim to follow a thought neutral bending plane through the hinge (4). The at least one cable or wire (14) is not stretched in the store position of the temples (3) nor crinkled in the use position. The hinge (4) has two axis connections, a first axis connection (5a) positioned at the frame (2) and a second axis connection (5b) positioned at the temple (3), and therebetween a connector (6) or at least one central part (7).
