Method and apparatus for representing an image with plasmonic pixels
A plasmonic pixel structure, comprising: a substrate; a plurality of nano-scale structures each comprising conducting and dielectric components, whereby the nano-scale structures are configured to act as nano-antennas. The nano-scale structures 5 have resonant frequencies that depend on the conducting component and sizes of the nano-scale structures. The conducting component and the sizes of the nano-scale structures are selected according to a wavelength component or components of incident light desired to be reflected or transmitted by the nano-scale structures, and the conducting component and the sizes of the nano-scale structures are selected 10 such that the nano-scale structures have respective resonant frequencies corresponding to a colour scheme.

SYSTEMS, DEVICES, METHODS, AND PROGRAM PRODUCTS ENHANCING STRUCTURE WALKTHROUGHS
Systems, devices, methods, and program products for enhancing structure walkthroughs are disclosed. In various embodiments, a method includes: monitoring a current location of an interested party (IP) device utilizing data collected by the IP device during a walkthrough of a structure having a structure representative (SR); detecting, based on the current location of the IP device, when the IP device is brought into proximity of a first SR-marked location included in a plurality of structure SR-marked locations; and in response to detecting that the IP device has been brought into proximity of the first SR-marked location, (i) identifying a first SR-created message corresponding to the first SR-marked location and contained in a location-referenced message set; and (ii) generating or causing generation of an SR message notification on the IP device, the SR message notification presenting or offering to present the first SR-created message to the interested party.
Tool, device, apparatus and method
In one aspect of the invention for which protection is sought there is provided reader apparatus for reading an identification code carried by a surface feature device, the surface feature device having a plurality of respective surface feature portions each provided at respective lateral locations over a lateral surface at one of a plurality of predetermined distances from a lateral reference plane, the apparatus comprising a light source and a light detector, the apparatus being configured to direct light from the light source onto the respective surface feature portions of the surface feature device and to detect by means of the detector light scattered by the respective surface feature portions, the detector being configured to output a detector signal indicative of the intensity of light incident thereon, the apparatus being configured to generate a reader signal responsive to the distance of each of the respective surface feature portions of the surface feature device from the reference plane in dependence on the detector signal.
Decoding parts with encoded geometry for retrieving passively represented information
A system, method, and computer-readable medium for decoding an encoded geometry, comprising: scanning an encoded geometry, the scanning comprising scanning a plurality of multi-dimensional symbols of the encoded geometry; identifying each of the plurality of multi-dimensional symbols; decoding each identifier multi-dimensional symbol to provide encoded geometry information; accessing an encoded geometry repository; and, retrieving data associated with the encoded geometry information.
RECORDING TAPE CARTRIDGE, BARCODE READING SYSTEM, AND BARCODE READING METHOD
A recording tape cartridge includes a case configured by first and second halves being joined to each other first and second peripheral walls are butted against each other and stores a reel, a label surface formed of a first half label surface of the first peripheral wall and a second half label surface of the second peripheral wall on a side opposite to a loading direction of the case to a drive device and that allows a barcode label with a one-dimensional or two-dimensional barcode to be attached thereto, and a reference surface formed on a bottom plate and is used for positioning the case in a thickness direction in a case of being loaded into the drive device. The first or second half label surface is inclined at one degree or more with respect to a vertical plane perpendicular to the reference surface in a side view.
Sweeping a profile along small circular arcs of a path
A method, apparatus, article of manufacture, and computer program product provide the ability to sweep a profile along a circular arc of a path. A sweep operation to sweep a profile along an arc of a path is initialized in a CAD application. For each path segment (in the path) that is circular, a determination is made regarding whether the profile crosses an axis of revolution of the circular path segment at a start position of the circular path segment. The profile that crosses the axis of revolution of the circular path segment is trimmed. The trimmed profile and an association with the circular path segment having the axis of revolution that is crossed by the trimmed profile are stored. A selective union operation that joins the solid bodies from the trimmed profiles is performed.
System and method for reading patterns using multiple image frames
This invention provides a system and method for decoding symbology that contains a respective data set using multiple image frames of the symbol, wherein at least some of those frames can have differing image parameters (for example orientation, lens zoom, aperture, etc.) so that combining the frames with an illustrative multiple image application allows the most-readable portions of each frame to be stitched together. And unlike prior systems which may select one best image, the illustrative system method allows this stitched image to form a complete, readable image of the underlying symbol. In an illustrative embodiment the system and method includes an imaging assembly that acquires multiple image frames of the symbol in which some of those image frames have discrete, differing image parameters from others of the frames. A processor, which is operatively connected to the imaging assembly processes the plurality of acquired image frames of the symbol to decode predetermined code data from at least some of the plurality of image frames, and to combine the predetermined code data from the at least some of the plurality of image frames to define a decodable version of the data set represented by the symbol.
ELECTROSURGICAL RETURN ELECTRODE AND RFID SYSTEM
An electrosurgical return electrode configured for operable association with a transponder detection unit. The return electrode includes a conductive element having an aperture array configured to allow passage of a magnetic, electric, or electromagnetic interrogation signal from the transponder detection unit through the conductive element and through the return electrode. The return electrode is positionable over a transponder detection unit such that the return electrode may be placed upon the transponder detection unit and a patient may be positioned upon the return electrode. The return electrode enables the detection of a transponder located on, within, and/or near the patient without the need for repositioning the patient relative to the return electrode and without the need for positioning an ancillary transponder reader or transmitter above the patient.
