At least two of the keys can have a different length. A strike pad can be attached to a top surface of each key. Each strike pad can be formed of rubber. Each strike pad can be sized to the key to which it is attached. Hitting one of the strike pads with an implement can produce a rebound of the implement that mimics a rebound of the implement when hitting a corresponding key of the conventional version of the instrument. Hitting one of the strike pads with the implement produces a sound that is quieter than when the implement hits a corresponding key of the conventional version of the instrument.
