A CHAIN LOAD MONITORING UNIT, AND AN INSTALLATION TOOL AND A METHOD FOR INSTALLING A CHAIN LOAD MONITORING UNIT
The present invention relates to a chain load monitoring unit (10), comprising a main body (12) with a first locking pawl (14) and a second locking pawl (16) connected by respective shafts (18), said first locking pawl (14) and second locking pawl (16) are each arranged to receive and hold respective chain links of a chain (40) and to transfer the load on the chain (40) to the shafts (18). Respective shafts (18) comprise attachable locking clamps (28), which when attached to the shafts (18) locks the first locking pawl (14) and the second locking pawl (16) at a load transferring distance between each other, wherein at least one of said shafts (18) comprises a load cell (20) connected to a logger unit (26). The invention further relates to an installation tool (50) for installing a chain load monitoring unit (10) on a chain, and a method for installing a chain load monitoring unit (10) on a chain (40) using an installation tool.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MEASURING RESIDUAL TORSIONS
An apparatus (100, 200, 300) and a method for measuring residual torsions of an elongated structure (202) such as a steel cord use a pivot head (102). The pivot head (102) comprises a wheel (104) adapted to guide an elongated structure (202). The wheel (104) is mounted in the pivot head (102) to transmit torques exercised by the elongated structure (202) on the wheel (104) to the pivot head (102). The pivot head (102) is mounted along a pivotal axis (110). This pivotal axis (110) lies in a plane of the wheel (104) and comprises the centre of the wheel (104). Sensor means (116, 206) measure the torque on the pivot head (102). The pivotal movement of the pivot head (102) around the pivotal axis (110) is limited to an angle range of 5, preferably 3 in order to reach an improved accuracy of the torque measurement.
Force measuring device for measuring web tensions of a running material web
The present invention relates to a force measuring device (20) for measuring web tensions of a running material web (10) that comprises a longitudinal direction defined by the running direction, and a transverse direction, the force measuring device (20) comprising an axle (22) and, supported on the axle, a measuring roll (30) wrapped around by the material web. Here, according to the present invention, it is provided that the measuring roll is formed as a segmented measuring roll (30) having two or more measuring segments (32) that are slidable separately on the axle (22) and are lockable in a measuring position on the axle in order to position the measuring segments (32) in the transverse direction of the material web (10) in accordance with desired measuring positions such that longitudinal sections (12) of the material web wrap around one measuring segment (32) each. The measuring segments (32) each comprise a load cell (36) that serves to determine the web tension of the longitudinal section (12) of the material web wrapped around the respective measuring segment (32) and that provides a mount with which the measuring segment (32) sits on the axle (22). The axle (22) is furnished with electrical conductors that extend substantially in the axial direction across the entire width (26), that are contactable at every position axially and with which the measuring signals provided by the load cells (36) of the measuring segments (22) are conductible to an evaluation unit arranged at an axle end (28).
Force measuring device for measuring web tensions of a running material web
The present invention relates to a force measuring device (20) for measuring web tensions of a running material web (10) that comprises a longitudinal direction defined by the running direction, and a transverse direction, the force measuring device (20) comprising an axle (22) and, supported on the axle, a measuring roll (30) wrapped around by the material web. Here, according to the present invention, it is provided that the measuring roll is formed as a segmented measuring roll (30) having two or more measuring segments (32) that are slidable separately on the axle (22) and are lockable in a measuring position on the axle in order to position the measuring segments (32) in the transverse direction of the material web (10) in accordance with desired measuring positions such that longitudinal sections (12) of the material web wrap around one measuring segment (32) each. The measuring segments (32) each comprise a load cell (36) that serves to determine the web tension of the longitudinal section (12) of the material web wrapped around the respective measuring segment (32) and that provides a mount with which the measuring segment (32) sits on the axle (22). The axle (22) is furnished with electrical conductors that extend substantially in the axial direction across the entire width (26), that are contactable at every position axially and with which the measuring signals provided by the load cells (36) of the measuring segments (22) are conductible to an evaluation unit arranged at an axle end (28).
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MEASURING WIRE ROPE TENSION
Tension measuring devices for measuring tension in wire ropes, and associated systems and methods, are generally provided. Tension measuring devices described herein may use force signals related to forces applied to a tension measuring device by a laterally deflected wire rope extending therethrough to determine a tension of the wire rope. Such embodiments may allow for long term accurate measurement of tension in high load wire rope applications.
