The invention provides an apparatus for use in determining the three-dimensional shape of an object, which apparatus comprises: an article, comprising a stretchable material, and a plurality of strain sensors positioned in contact with the material such that stretching of the material is detectable by the sensors; a computing device operatively coupled to the article and configured to receive output data from the sensors and to process the data to determine the three dimensional shape of the object. The invention also provides a method for providing a customized orthotic product using the apparatus.
METHOD FOR MEASURING THE AXIAL (TRANSVERSE), CORONAL (FRONTAL) AND SAGITTAL (BISECTION) ALIGNMENT OF A LOWER LIMB
A method of determining axial alignment of a lower limb includes determining a three-dimensional volume based on a scan of a lower limb of a patient, identifying a level of hip version by referring to a first axis of symmetry of a femoral neck and a second axis of symmetry of a distal portion of a femur, wherein hip version is defined by an angle between the first axis of symmetry and the second the second axis of symmetry, identifying a level of tibial torsion by referring to a third axis of symmetry of a proximal portion of a tibia and a fourth axis of symmetry of a distal portion of the tibia, wherein tibial torsion is defined by an angle between the third axis of symmetry and the fourth axis of symmetry, and providing the level of hip version and the level of tibial torsion to a user.
REAL-TIME SYSTEM FOR MONITORING AND ANALYZING VOLUME OF SUBSTANCE INTRODUCED INTO THE BODY AND VOLUME OF METABOLIC WASTE EXPELLED FROM THE BODY
A real-time system for monitoring and analysis includes input and output measurement devices, a cloud medical system, and at least one intelligent device. The input measurement device includes a first microprocessor and a first measurement unit configured to measure a volume of substance introduction, the first microprocessor having a first wireless module for transmitting a signal of the measured substance introduction to the cloud medical system. The output measurement device includes a second microprocessor and a second measurement unit configured to measure a volume of metabolic waste expelled from the body, the second microprocessor having a second wireless module for transmitting a signal of the measured urine to the cloud medical system. A signal of doctor's orders is transmitted from a doctor's orders system to the intelligent device.
SYSTEMS, DEVICES, AND METHODS FOR TRACKING ABDOMINAL ORIENTATION AND ACTIVITY FOR TREATMENT AND PREVENTION OF PRESSURE SORES
Methods and devices for monitoring and changing the physical orientation of an individual are provided. A method includes providing a wearable device that monitors the physical orientation of an individual, monitoring the physical orientation over time using the wearable device, and issuing an alert from the wearable device to change the physical orientation by a prescribed amount when the individual has maintained the physical orientation for a duration exceeding a maximum length. The wearable device is optionally configured to issue subsequent alerts upon determining that the physical orientation has not changed following the duration. The alerts are optionally of varying natures and issued to, for example, the individual, people nearby, and/or caregivers outside the individual's room.
Systems, methods, and apparatuses for peripheral arterial disease detection and mitigation thereof
Embodiments described herein are directed to non-invasive detection of peripheral arterial disease. For example, a measuring apparatus is used to measure a patient's calf circumference. The measuring apparatus has text feature(s) or indicator(s) printed thereupon that indicate the likelihood that the patient has peripheral arterial disease based on the measured calf circumference. The assessment may be further refined by using a software application that assesses the likelihood of the patient having peripheral arterial disease using at least the calf circumference measurement, along with other information/data. Based on the assessment, a healthcare practitioner may prescribe a walking program for the patient to follow. A software application may track compliance of the walking program and provide escalating reminders to the patient if the patient continues to fail to comply with the prescribed walking program.
Displacement measuring device
A measurement device is disclosed for measuring a change in one or more of a circumference or a perimeter of at least a portion of an object having a surface. The measurement device includes a first part for attachment to the object, a second part having a first portion moveable relative to a first portion of the first part, a determining device for determining a displacement of the first portion of the second part relative to the first portion of the first part caused by the object changing, and a biasing device for biasing the first part and the second part towards engagement. The measured displacement is for use in determining the change in one or more of a circumference or a perimeter of the object.
Prostate glove, fingertip optical encoder, connector system, and related methods
Systems and methods are provided herein that generally involve measuring a prostate or other object. In some embodiments, a finger clip having a roller ring or wheel rotatably mounted thereto is disposed within an inflatable membrane. The roller ring can include a measurement pattern positioned opposite to optical fibers configured to receive light reflected from the measurement pattern. A user can put on the finger clip, position the membrane in proximity to a rectal wall overlying a prostate, and inflate the membrane. As the user slides their finger across the inside of the membrane, which is pressed against the rectal wall, the roller ring can rotate with respect to the fibers such that the fibers move relative to the measurement pattern. A controller can sense light reflected through the fibers from the reference pattern and calculate or estimate various attributes of the prostate based on the reflected light.
ULTRASOUND DIAGNOSTIC APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD OF ULTRASOUND DIAGNOSTIC APPARATUS
An ultrasound diagnostic apparatus (1) includes an ultrasound probe (2) having a predetermined size; and a portable diagnostic apparatus main body (3), in which the diagnostic apparatus main body (3) includes a camera (25) that captures an optical image including a wound region of a subject and the ultrasound probe, an image generation unit (22) that generates an ultrasound image for the wound region, a monitor (24) that displays the optical image and the ultrasound image, an extraction unit (26) that extracts the wound region and the ultrasound probe from the optical image, and a wound size calculation unit (27) that calculates an actual size of the wound region on the basis of the predetermined size of the ultrasound probe (2) by comparing the extracted wound region and the extracted ultrasound probe (2), and displays the actual size on the monitor (24).
