SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DETERMINING TARGET CHARACTERISTICS DURING A LASER PROCEDURE
Disclosed are systems and methods for determining target characteristics during a laser procedure, comprising (i) obtaining a relationship between (i) a number of pixels associated with a light beam reflected from a target or an object located in proximity to the target on an endoscopic image obtained from a video sensor coupled to an endoscope and (ii) a distance of the target from a tip of the endoscope. The method further comprising (ii) measuring the number of pixels associated with the light beam reflected from the target or the object located in proximity to the target during a procedure, and (iii) based at least in part on the relationship obtained in step (i) and the measured number of pixels in step (ii), determining at least one of a size of the target or a distance of the target from the tip of the endoscope.
Dental arch width measurement tool
Systems and methods for rapidly and reliably determining an arch with of a patient's dental arch. A patient's dentition may be scanned and/or segmented. Arch width may be determined between points of intersection on the occlusal surface and a long axis of each tooth between one or more of: canine, first bicuspid, first primary molar, second bicuspid, second primary molar, and permanent first molar. Arch widths of different modified versions of the patient's dentition may be dynamically compared the patient's starting dentition, or to each other, and may be dynamically updated as the user modifies or switches between one or more 3D models of the patient's dentition.
Intraoperative systems and methods for determining and providing for display a virtual image overlaid onto a visual image of a bone
Example methods and systems may be used intraoperatively to help surgeons perform accurate and replicable surgeries, such as knee arthroplasty surgeries. An example system combines real time measurement and tracking components with functionality to compile data collected by the hardware to register a bone of a patient, calculate an axis (e.g., mechanical axis) of the leg of the patient, assist a surgeon in placing cut guides, and verify a placement of an inserted prosthesis.
SAFETY LOGIC FOR SURGICAL SUTURING SYSTEMS
A surgical suturing tracking system is disclosed. The surgical suturing tracking system is configured to detect and guide a suturing needle during a surgical suturing procedure. The surgical suturing track system comprises a control circuit configured to predict a path of a needle suturing stroke after receiving an input from a clinician, detect an embedded tissue structure, and assess proximity of the predicted path and the detected embedded tissue structure.
SYSTEM FOR DETERMINING THE SURFACE AND MECHANICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF FILAMENTARY STRUCTURES, IN PARTICULAR SKIN APPENDAGES, STRUCTURES ASSOCIATED THEREWITH, NATURAL OR SYNTHETIC FIBERS AND THEIR AGGREGATES
A system for the characterization of vital or reconstituted tissues, in particular skin appendages, includes a plurality of sources of electromagnetic radiation to be spatially oriented and to irradiate according to a selected angle of incidence a sample of vital or reconstituted tissue having a series of filaments of a person that are homogenous in structural type, at least one image acquisition device for receiving a reflected and/or dispersed radiation from the sample, or a fluorescence radiation emitted by the sample, and an image processing unit configured to process reflection, and/or dispersion and/or fluorescence images, and to classify examined tissue to compare the value of at least one parameter selected from gloss, dimensions, colour intensity, contour of the filaments of the sample with a database of parameters of classes of predetermined vital or reconstituted tissues, and/or to compare the value of the at least one parameter with a database of historic values of parameters of the tissue.
SURGICAL IMPACTOR NAVIGATION SYSTEMS AND METHODS
This disclosure relates to systems for assisting surgeons in implanting joint replacement implant components. One aspect provides a system for assisting a surgeon in implanting a joint replacement implant component during a surgery of replacing a joint. The system comprises: an instrument for medullary canal preparation; a video camera to capture image data of the instrument; a computer system to: store a surgical plan; determine a pose of the instrument relative to the bone or the joint based on the image data from the video camera; assess the pose of the instrument against the surgical plan; and provide an indication to the surgeon of a clinical consequence of the pose in relation to the surgical plan.
Surgical system for overlaying surgical instrument data onto a virtual three dimensional construct of an organ
A surgical system for use with a surgical instrument in a surgical procedure performed on an anatomical organ is disclosed. The surgical system comprises at least one imaging device and a control circuit configured to identify anatomical structures relevant to the surgical procedure from visualization data from the at least one imaging device, propose a surgical resection path for removing a portion of the anatomical organ by the surgical instrument, and present parameters of the surgical instrument in accordance with the surgical resection path. The surgical resection path is determined based on the anatomical structures.
MONITORING FLUID BALANCE
A monitoring device for monitoring the fluid balance of an animal or human body. The device includes a body weight sensor for continuously or periodically weighing the body, a fluid delivery device for providing a controllable supply of fluid to the body, a urine output sensor for determining the urine output of the body, a processor. The processor is adapted for determining a total fluid outtake of the body and a fluid outtake due to perspiration and respiration by taking a signal provided by the body weight sensor and a signal provided by the urine output sensor into account, and providing a control signal to the fluid delivery device to regulate a volume, flow velocity or flow rate of the fluid delivered to the body, so as to maintain a predetermined fluid balance in the body.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR HUMAN MOTION DETECTION AND TRACKING
A system and method for human motion detection and tracking are disclosed. In one embodiment, a smart device having an optical sensing instrument monitors a stage. Memory is accessible to a processor and communicatively coupled to the optical sensing instrument. The system captures an image frame from the optical sensing instrument. The image frame is then converted into a designated image frame format, which is provided to a pose estimator. A two-dimensional dataset is received from the pose estimator. The system then converts, using inverse kinematics, the two-dimensional dataset into a three-dimensional dataset, which includes time-independent static joint positions, and then calculates, using the three-dimensional dataset, the position of each of the respective plurality of body parts in the image frame.
Prostate glove, fingertip optical encoder, connector system, and related methods
Systems and methods are provided herein that generally involve measuring a prostate or other object. In some embodiments, a finger clip having a roller ring or wheel rotatably mounted thereto is disposed within an inflatable membrane. The roller ring can include a measurement pattern positioned opposite to optical fibers configured to receive light reflected from the measurement pattern. A user can put on the finger clip, position the membrane in proximity to a rectal wall overlying a prostate, and inflate the membrane. As the user slides their finger across the inside of the membrane, which is pressed against the rectal wall, the roller ring can rotate with respect to the fibers such that the fibers move relative to the measurement pattern. A controller can sense light reflected through the fibers from the reference pattern and calculate or estimate various attributes of the prostate based on the reflected light.
