DIAGNOSIS OF NEURODEGENERATIVE DISORDERS
Methods are provided for non-invasive early screening of a subject for a neurodegenerative disorder, by analyzing one or more parameters associated with the neurodegenerative disorder.
Method of ruling out Alzheimer's disease
The present system is directed in various embodiments to devices, systems and methods for detection, evaluation and/or monitoring olfactory dysfunction by measuring and determining the patient's olfactory detection threshold for the left and the right nostril. More specifically, the present invention relates to devices, systems and methods for detecting an asymmetric differential in a patient's olfactory detection threshold (left vs right nostril) which, when present, may be used as a tool to screen, detect, diagnose and/or monitor relative olfactory deterioration resulting from Alzheimer's disease. A preferred embodiment comprises cascading aromas by serially administering more than one pure odorant to the patient's nostrils, left vs right, with measurement of the time, or numbers of breaths, required to cognitively notice the pure odorants' presence.
DEVICE AND METHOD OF USING VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS THAT AFFECT MOOD, EMOTION OR A PHYSIOLOGIC STATE
The present invention includes an apparatus and method for aiding mood, emotion, or physiological state comprising: a substrate that is capable of capturing or absorbing one or more organic compounds from a subject having a first physiologic or emotional state at a first time; and an element that is capable of controlling the capture of the one or more organic compounds at a first time, or the release of the one or more organic compounds from the substrate at a second time, wherein exposure to an effective amount of the organic compounds changes the mood, emotion, or physiological state of the subject.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR MEASURING PHYSIOLOGICAL PARAMETERS OF A SUBJECT UNDERGOING AN OLFACTORY STMULATION
Method and related system for measuring physiological parameters of a human subject undergoing an olfactory stimulation comprising one or more smelling olfactory stimuli, where by means of said system and according to said method a human subject is undergone to said olfactory stimulation by sending said one or more smelling olfactory stimuli to the human subject; one or more physiological parameters of the human subject are recorded; and said olfactory stimulation and physiological parameters recording are synchronized.
Multi-modal olfactometer
A multi-modal olfactometer including a carrier assembly slidably coupled with a track and movable between a loading and testing position, a distribution block coupled with the carrier assembly and including a plurality of independent flow channels, a plurality of bottles configured for containing a gas stimuli and for being coupled with the distribution block, a plurality of tubes in flow communication with corresponding channels defined in the distribution block, an outlet piece including a plurality of independent flow channels that are each in flow communication with one of the respective tubes, and at least one actuator positioned adjacent to the bottles when the carrier assembly is in the testing position. The actuator operates to impact each of the bottles to cause the respective gas stimulus to flow through the respective channel in the distribution block, tube, and channel in the outlet piece for inhalation by a test subject.
Diagnosis of neurodegenerative disorders
Methods are provided for non-invasive early screening of a subject for a neurodegenerative disorder, by analyzing one or more parameters associated with the neurodegenerative disorder.
OLFACTORY TEST DEVICE, OLFACTORY TEST SYSTEM, AND OLFACTORY TEST METHOD
A device that is also applicable to an olfactory test is provided. The present technology provides an olfactory test device including: a main body; and a cartridge that holds an odor component, in which the main body includes a cartridge holding unit that holds the cartridge, a detection unit that detects an attachment status of the cartridge with respect to the cartridge holding unit, and an output unit that outputs a detection signal of cartridge attachment in the detection unit. The present technology also provides an olfactory test system including: the olfactory test device; and an information processing device including a processing unit that manages a state of the cartridge on the basis of the detection signal output from the output unit.
CONFIGURABLE SYSTEM FOR EVALUATING STIMULUS SENSITIVITY OF A SUBECT AND METHOD OF USE THEREFOR
A configurable system is used to evaluate stimulus sensitivity of a subject. An action channel provides a stimulus to the subject and a reaction channel receives a response from the subject. A signal pathway is connected to the action channel and to the reaction channel. A controller establishes loops within the signal pathway. Loop types include a transduction loop including the action channel and forming a path terminating in the signal pathway, and a channel loop including the action channel and terminating at a reference unit. Other possible loop types include an interface loop including the action channel, the reaction channel and the reference unit having an initial parameter value, and an adaptive loop including the action channel, the reaction channel and the reference unit whose parameter value is adapted based on the response from the subject. A method using the system is also described.
TECHNIQUES FOR OLFACTORY TRAINING USING SCENT DISPENSING DEVICES
A system and method for olfactory training using scent dispensing devices. A method includes determining olfactory training inputs; generating training exercise data, wherein the training exercise data includes instructions for dispensing scents; causing the execution of the training exercises by at least dispensing scents via a scent dispensing device; obtaining training results data based on user inputs received during the training exercise; and determining a plan for a next stage of training based on the training results data.
APPARATUSES FOR PREDICTING AND USING OLFACTORY PROFILES
Aspects of the present disclosure relate to an apparatus for predicting an olfactory profile of a molecule, the apparatus comprising memory circuitry, machine-readable instructions, and processor circuitry to execute the machine-readable instructions to obtain a first representation of the molecule and a second representation of the molecule, process the first representation using at least one first machine-learning model to obtain a first predicted olfactory profile of the molecule, process the second representation using at least one second machine-learning model to obtain a second predicted olfactory profile of the molecule, process the first predicted olfactory profile and the second predicted olfactory profile, or a combined version of the first predicted olfactory profile and the second predicted olfactory profile, using a third machine-learning model, the third machine-learning model being trained to output a third predicted olfactory profile of the molecule.
