Method for measuring the visually-induced postural instability of a person
Method for measuring the visually-induced postural instability of a person is described, the method comprising a display providing step (S1) during which a visual display device is provided. The display device is arranged so as to display a dynamic visual pattern in at least 50% of the lower half of the visual field of the person, leaving an upper half of the visual field of the person free. The method also comprises a display step (S2) during which a dynamic visual pattern is displayed on the visual display device. The method further comprises a measuring step (S3) during which a parameter representative of the postural instability is measured when the person is gazing at a fix target straight in front while having the dynamic visual pattern displayed on the visual display device.
Method and device for collecting data for posturography
A method and a device for collecting data for posturography comprising a magnetizable body and an acceleration sensor are located on the platform, which magnetizable body and acceleration sensor are connected to a computer by means of an A/D converter. An electromagnet is located under the platform and is attached so as to be displaceable in two axes parallel to the plane of the platform, wherein the electromagnet is connected to an A/D converter and a power supply by means of a circuit, and a time-variable display, which is connected to the A/D converter, and a digital camera which are connected to the computer. By means of the method and the device it is now possible to standardize posturographic measurements, simultaneously detect the acceleration and the position of the platform, and more variably carry out provocations.
Method and system for monitoring intoxication
A method and system for monitoring a user's intoxication including receiving a set of signals, derived from a set of samples collected from the user at a set of time points; providing a sobriety task to the user proximal to a time point of the set of time points; generating a performance dataset characterizing performance of the sobriety task by the user; receiving a supplementary dataset characterizing a demographic profile of the user and/or a physiological state of the user; determining a set of values of an intoxication metric, derived from the set of signals; generating a predicted temporal profile of the intoxication metric for the user based upon the set of values, the set of time points, and the supplementary dataset; generating an analysis of the user's sobriety based upon the performance dataset and the predicted temporal profile; and providing a notification to the user based upon the analysis.
ANKLE ERGOMETER
Disclosed is an ankle ergometer for measuring a force exerted on a user's ankle joint by muscles involved in ankle mobility, including: a first splint-type portion receiving the lower limb when the user's knee is extended, and including a lower limb immobilizer with the leg in extension, and a second portion including: a) a main body attached to the first portion, b) a counter-supporting unit secured to the main body, c) a rigid plate forming a supporting surface for the lower surface of the foot, the rigid plate being substantially static relative to the counter-supporting unit, d) a force sensor between the plate and the counter-supporting unit, the plate not being secured to the main body so the sensor measures the force exerted on the supporting surface of the plate by the ankle mobility muscles, the force being transmitted from the plate to the counter-supporting unit.
Image display apparatus, image display method, storage medium, and monitoring system
A head-mounted display, a smart phone, a tablet terminal, an electronic book, or the like monitors conditions of the side of a power generation apparatus that charges a battery. An image display apparatus includes a power generation information acquisition means for obtaining power generation information on a power storage amount, a power generation amount, and the like of a secondary battery in each power generation apparatus, appropriately processes the obtained information, and displays it to a user via a display unit. The user can check the power generation amount of the power generation apparatus and the power storage amount of the secondary battery without stopping the use of the image display apparatus. When a power storage amount of a battery in use is lowered, the user can properly judge with which of the power generation apparatuses the user should replace the battery.
Methods and systems for controlling vehicle body motion and occupant experience
In one embodiment, one or more suspension systems of a vehicle may be used to mitigate motion sickness by limiting motion in one or more frequency ranges. In another embodiment, an active suspension may be integrated with an autonomous vehicle architecture. In yet another embodiment, the active suspension system of a vehicle may be used to induce motion in a vehicle. The vehicle may be used as a testbed for technical investigations and/or as a platform to enhance the enjoyment of video and/or audio by vehicle occupants. In some embodiments, the active suspensions system may be used to perform gestures as a means of communication with persons inside or outside the vehicle. In some embodiments, the active suspensions system may be used to generate haptic warnings to a vehicle operator or other persons in response to certain road situations.
BALANCE MEASUREMENT SYSTEMS AND METHODS THEREOF
Balance measurement systems and methods thereof include at least one measurement device or indicator and an unstable or dynamic device or surface or other balance device. In example forms, the at least one measurement device is generally removably mounted to a portion of the body of a user (and/or to a portion of the balance device) such that the movements and body behavior of a user (and/or the balance device) can be measured as the user attempts to balance on the balance device. According to one example form, the unstable device includes a suspended rope or slackline. According to other example forms, the balance device includes a generally unstable platform.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR ASSESSMENT OF HEALTH CONDITION OR FUNCTIONAL STATE FROM KEYSTROKE DATA
Data regarding typing by a user may be collected and analyzed in order to assess one or more health conditions or functional states of the user. Each health condition that is assessed may be a disease or a symptom of a disease. For instance, based on the typing data, a computer may assess the presence, severity or probability of, or a change in, one or more symptoms such as: mild cognitive impairment; dementia; impairment of fine motor control; impairment of sensory-motor feedback; or behavioral impairment. A computer may calculate keystroke tensors that encode information about the typing. A computer may select or derive features from the keystroke tensors. These features may be fed into one or more machine learning algorithms, which in turn may output an assessment of a health condition or functional state of the user.
MULTIMODAL METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR EVALUATING AND IMPROVING NEUROMOTOR CONTROL ABILITY
A method and system for evaluating an individual's neuromotor control ability through conducting a multimodal series of tests, said method comprising the steps of capturing the data from each test, assessing the test data to generate a result for each test, comparing the results of the tests to normative standards, and combining the results of the multiple tests into a single overall score, said multimodal series of tests comprising functional tests of the three main movement control sensory systems being the proprioceptive, visual and vestibular systems.
