INTRAVASCULAR CATHETER WITH PERI-VASCULAR NERVE ACTIVITY SENSORS
An intravascular catheter for peri-vascular nerve activity sensing or measurement includes multiple needles advanced through supported guide tubes (needle guiding elements) which expand with open ends around a central axis to contact the interior surface of the wall of the renal artery or other vessel of a human body allowing the needles to be advanced though the vessel wall into the perivascular space. The system also may include means to limit and/or adjust the depth of penetration of the needles. The catheter also includes structures which provide radial and lateral support to the guide tubes so that the guide tubes open uniformly and maintain their position against the interior surface of the vessel wall as the sharpened needles are advanced to penetrate into the vessel wall. The addition of an injection lumen at the proximal end of the catheter and openings in the needles adds the functionality of ablative fluid injection into the perivascular space for an integrated nerve sending and ablation capability.
SYSTEMS APPROACH TO DISEASE STATE AND HEALTH ASSESSMENT
Methods, systems, and apparatus for assessing a state of an epilepsy disease or a comorbidity thereof are provided. The methods comprise receiving at least one autonomic index, neurologic index, stress marker index, psychiatric index, endocrine index, adverse effect of therapy index, physical fitness index, or quality of life index of a patient; comparing the at least one index to at least one reference value; and assessing a state of an epilepsy disease or a body system of the patient based on the comparison. A computer readable program storage device encoded with instructions that, when executed by a computer, perform the method described above is also provided. A medical device system capable of implementing the method described above is also provided.
Stimulus placement system using subject neuro-response measurements
An example system disclosed herein includes an analyzer to analyze first neuro-response data from a first frequency band of a first subject exposed to source material and second neuro-response data from a second frequency band of the first subject and a selector to identify a candidate location in the source material for introduction of an advertisement or entertainment based on a degree of coherence between a first change in amplitude of the first frequency band measured before a neurological event and a second change in amplitude of the second frequency band measured before the neurological event. The analyzer is to analyze third neuro-response data from at least one of the first subject or a second subject exposed to a combination of the source material and the advertisement or entertainment inserted in the candidate location and determine an effectiveness of the advertisement or entertainment based on the third neuro-response data.

A method includes delivering a composition to a tissue site within a volume of tissue; and at least one of monitoring the effect of the composition on an electrophysiological state of a region in the volume of tissue and monitoring the migration of the composition in the region after delivery to the site; wherein the composition comprises an ablative agent for performing a treatment within a body of a subject and an excipient for limiting migration of at least one of the composition and the ablative agent within the body after delivery to the tissue site.

A method of guiding a cardiac treatment using a functional imaging modality, comprising: providing functional imaging modality data from a functional imaging modality which images an intrabody volume of a patient containing a heart, the patient having been injected with an imaging agent having a nervous tissue uptake by an autonomic nervous system (ANS) of the heart, the ANS comprising at least one GP; locating the at least one GP innervating the heart based on the functional imaging modality data; and providing the located at least one GP.
System and method for monitoring personal health and a method for treatment of autonomic nervous system related dysfunctions
A system and method of monitoring the health of a person. The system comprises at least one sensor capable of measuring at least one physiological signal generated by the autonomic nervous system of the person for providing measurement data, and a data processing system which is configured to store a reference indicator, to receive measurement data from the sensor during a plurality of consecutive health-maintenance sessions in order to collect a plurality of measurement data sets corresponding to said health-maintenance sessions, to determine at last one health indicator based on the measurement data sets, said at least one health indicator being sensitive to physiological state of or changes in the autonomic nervous system, and to compare the at least one health indicator with said reference indicator. Objective information on autonomic nervous system related dysfunctions is retrieved which allows for systematic treatment to the person.

The present invention relates to a device for performing a tVNS treatment having at least one electrode for generating a stimulation pulse, with the device having at least one detection means that is configured to detect one or more parameter values, and with the device having a control or regulation unit that is suitable to set one or more parameters of the stimulation pulse delivered by the electrode in dependence on the detected parameter value or values.
Devices and methods for remote therapy and patient monitoring
Systems and methods for remote therapy and patient monitoring are provided. A method comprises contacting an outer skin surface of a patient with a contact surface of a stimulator and transmitting an electrical impulse from the stimulator transcutaneously through the outer skin surface to a nerve within the patient. Data related to parameters of the electrical impulse applied to the nerve is stored and transmitted to a remote source. The data may include duration of treatment, amplitude of the electrical impulse, compliance with a prescribed therapy regimen or other relevant data related to the therapy. The method may further include collecting patient status data, such as symptoms of a medical condition (e.g., severity of a headache) before, during and/or after stimulation. The patient status data is correlated with the treatment data to monitor compliance and/or the effectiveness of the therapy.
Maximum Heart Rate Estimation Method and Device
A method includes a first acquisition step of acquiring a heart rate of a target person who does exercise, a second acquisition step of acquiring an electrocardiographic waveform of the target person who does the exercise, a third acquisition step of acquiring a predetermined feature amount from the acquired electrocardiographic waveform, and an estimation step of estimating a maximum heart rate of the target person based on a relationship between the predetermined feature amount and the acquired heart rate. In the estimation step, the maximum heart rate of the target person is estimated based on a heart rate corresponding to an inflection point in a change of the predetermined feature amount with respect to the acquired heart rate.
