A biosignal measuring method and apparatus are provided. The biosignal measuring method includes verifying whether a measured biosignal is in a range, and controlling an operation of the biosignal measuring apparatus when the measured biosignal deviates from the range based on a result of the verifying.
VAGUS NERVE STIMULATION PATIENT SELECTION
A method for assessing a patient's suitability for receiving a vagus nerve stimulation therapy includes receiving a criterion regarding the patient's suitability for receiving a vagus nerve stimulation therapy; controlling a stimulation device to provide stimulation to a vagus nerve of the patient; receiving, from a sensor, response data indicative of a physiological response of the patient to the stimulation of the vagus nerve; and determining the patient's suitability for receiving the vagus nerve stimulation therapy based on the criterion and the physiological response of the patient to the stimulation.
Intravascular catheter with peri-vascular nerve activity sensors
An intravascular catheter for peri-vascular nerve activity sensing or measurement includes multiple needles advanced through supported guide tubes (needle guiding elements) which expand with open ends around a central axis to contact the interior surface of the wall of the renal artery or other vessel of a human body allowing the needles to be advanced though the vessel wall into the perivascular space. The system also may include means to limit and/or adjust the depth of penetration of the needles. The catheter also includes structures which provide radial and lateral support to the guide tubes so that the guide tubes open uniformly and maintain their position against the interior surface of the vessel wall as the sharpened needles are advanced to penetrate into the vessel wall. The addition of an injection lumen at the proximal end of the catheter and openings in the needles adds the functionality of ablative fluid injection into the perivascular space for an integrated nerve sending and ablation capability.
Device and method for monitoring and diagnosing the autoregular mechanism of the blood pressure of a living being
A method of monitoring and/or diagnosing an autoregulation mechanism of blood pressure of a living being using an ECG signal includes recording the ECG signal of the living being, and the recording a pulse wave curve synchronously with the recording of the ECG signal. Heart rate intervals are determined from the ECG signal. A pulse wave transit time is determined for each heart rate interval from the pulse wave curve. A plurality of significant changes in the pulse wave transit times are determined according to a specified criterion. One respective heart rate interval correlated in time with each significant change in the pulse wave transit times is selected as an anchor point. A determined limited number of temporally successive heart rate intervals temporally before and/or after each anchor point are selected to thus generate a limited sequence of heart rate intervals for each anchor point. The method further includes averaging the corresponding heart rate intervals of each sequence of a respective anchor point over all sequences of the anchor points.
Neuromodulation and associated systems and methods for the management of pain
Methods for treating and managing pain in a patient with therapeutic neuromodulation and associated systems and methods are disclosed herein. Chronic or debilitating pain can be associated, for example, with a disease or condition of the abdominal or reproductive viscera. One aspect of the present technology is directed to methods that at least partially inhibit sympathetic neural activity in nerves proximate a target blood vessel of a diseased or damaged organ of a patient experiencing pain. Targeted sympathetic nerve activity can be modulated at least along afferent pathways which can improve a measurable parameter associated with the pain of the patient The modulation can be achieved, for example, using an intravascularly positioned catheter carrying a therapeutic assembly, e.g., a therapeutic assembly configured to use electrically-induced, thermally-induced, and/or chemically-induced approaches to modulate the target sympathetic nerve.
Neuromodulation and associated systems and methods for the treatment of cancer
Methods for treating a human patient diagnosed with cancer with therapeutic neuromodulation and associated systems are disclosed herein. Sympathetic nerve activity can contribute to several cellular and physiological processes associated with the progression of cancer. One aspect of the present technology is directed to methods that attenuate neural traffic along target sympathetic nerves innervating tissue proximate a primary malignant tumor. Other aspects are directed to methods that at least partially inhibit sympathetic neural activity in a renal nerve of a patient diagnosed with cancer or who has a high risk of developing cancer. Targeted sympathetic nerve activity can be attenuated to improve a measurable physiological parameter corresponding to the progression of cancer in the patient. The attenuation can be achieved, for example, using an intravascularly positioned catheter carrying a therapeutic assembly, e.g., a therapeutic assembly configured to use electrically-induced, thermally-induced, and/or chemically-induced approaches to modulate the target sympathetic nerve.
Neuro-response stimulus and stimulus attribute resonance estimator
Example methods, systems, and machine readable media are disclosed herein for determining a subject resonance measurement. An example method includes accessing first neuro-response data obtained from a subject prior to exposure to an advertisement or entertainment and second neuro-response data obtained from the subject after exposure to the advertisement or the entertainment, respectively. The example method includes calculating, using a processor, a first event related potential measurement and a second event related potential measurement based on the first neuro-response data and the second neuro-response data. The example method includes calculating, using the processor, a differential event related potential measurement based on the first event related potential measurement and the second event related potential measurement. In addition, the example method includes determining a subject resonance measurement to the advertisement or the entertainment based on the differential event related potential measurement.
Biomarker sampling in the context of neuromodulation devices, systems, and methods
Methods for treating a patient using therapeutic renal neuromodulation and associated devices, systems, and methods are disclosed herein. One aspect of the present technology is directed to biomarker sampling in the context of neuromodulation devices, systems, and methods. Some embodiments, for example, are directed to catheters, catheter systems, and methods for sampling biomarkers that change in response to neuromodulation. A system can include, for example, an elongated shaft and a neuromodulation and sampling assembly having a neuromodulation and a sampling element.

A device for stimulating neurons that includes a non-invasive stimulation unit for generating stimuli in stimulation channels. A control unit controls the stimulation unit during first and second time intervals in different stimulation modes. The control unit controls the stimulation unit during 75% or more of the first time interval in the first stimulation mode to repeatedly generate sequences of stimuli and the order in which the stimulation channels generate stimuli is constant for not more than 5 successively generated sequences and then varied. The control unit controls the stimulation unit during 75% or more of the second time interval in a second stimulation mode such that the stimulation channels repeatedly generate sequences of stimuli and the order in which the stimulation channels generate stimuli is constant for at least 25 successively generated sequences and then varied.
