Electromagnetic wave sensing and modulating of neuronal activities
The present invention presents methods and apparatus for detecting, imaging, monitoring, and modulating of brain activities and neuronal activities in the brain using radiofrequency (RF) electromagnetic (EM) waves, as well as methods and apparatus for detecting, imaging, and monitoring breathing and heart-beating using RF EM waves.
Method and system for assisting patients
A system for use in assisting a user in a social interaction with another person is provided, the system being configured to determine whether the user recognizes the person and, if it is determined that the user does not recognize the person, to provide information to the user about the person. A corresponding method and computer program product for performing the method are also provided.
Prediction device based on inter-organ cross talk system
An apparatus 1 comprises a subject data obtaining unit 11 for obtaining subject data M4 of an inter-organ cross talk indicator in each organ other than a specific organ, a pattern similarity calculation unit 12 for calculating, by comparing the subject data M4 with standard data 1 of the inter-organ cross talk indicator, similarity of patterns of the inter-organ cross talk indicators, and a prediction unit 13 for predicting the presence of a specific disease and/or the stage of the specific disease by using the similarity as a measure.
System and methods for monitoring and improving cognitive flexibility
A system and methods for monitoring and controlling a mental state of a subject are provided. In some aspects, a method includes receiving physiological and behavioral data acquired using the plurality of sensors while the subject is performing a task, and applying, using the data, a state-space framework to determine a plurality of decoder parameters correlating brain activity and behavior with a mental state of the subject. The method also includes identifying the mental state of the subject using the decoder parameters, and generating a report indicating the mental state of the subject. In some aspects, the method further includes generating, based on the identified mental state, a brain stimulation to treat a brain condition of the subject.
Measuring blood vessel characteristics with MRI
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, obtaining first magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data of a subject, wherein the first MRI data is obtained during a first scan of a subject, wherein the first scan has a first diffusion sampling time, and wherein the first diffusion sampling time is selected in order to facilitate use of the first MRI data to determine a first Intravoxel Incoherent Motion (IVIM) effective diffusion coefficient in a Stationary Random Flow (SRF) regime; obtaining second MRI data of the subject, wherein the second MRI data is obtained during a second scan of the subject, wherein the second scan has a second diffusion sampling time, wherein the second diffusion sampling time is longer than the first diffusion sampling time, and wherein the second diffusion sampling time is selected in order to facilitate use of the second MRI data to determine a second IVIM effective diffusion coefficient in a pseudodiffusion regime; determining a blood velocity value based upon the first MRI data; and determining a segment length value based upon the second MRI data. Additional embodiments are disclosed.
Object recognition by touch screen
Devices, systems and methods are described that can facilitate recognition of an engagement between an object and a touch screen in the absence of human contact. Upon the engagement, an electrically conductive path can be established that extends from a surface of the touch screen such that sufficient electrons flow from the touch screen through the electrically conductive path to enable the recognition of the object on the touch screen in the absence of human contact with the object during continued presence of the object on the touch screen.
Visual stimuli maze test for detecting visual abnormalities in prodromal Alzheimer's disease and in Alzheimer's disease
Disclosed herein is a rodent and human behavioral test for evaluating visual dysfunctions associated with the retinal changes in Alzheimer disease progression. In one example, the inventors developed a maze that tests rodent's ability to identify (1) specific contrasts, (2) specific colors, (3) certain items in the visual field, and (4) other ‘non-typical’ peripheral and night vision functions associated with AD. For instance, the inventors developed a maze the tests the rodents ability to avoid certain colors or contrasts gradients. The maze may include certain rooms with specific visual markers (e.g., colors, contrasts, objects or other visual features) that also contain shock plates.
Differentiate user by their water behavior
A system is provided for differentiating between water usage of multiple water consumers using a common distributed water infrastructure. The system receives from a water sensor that is upstream of a plurality of appliances, signals indicative of water usage, and constructs from the signals a plurality of water event profile signatures. The system associates, based on differences between similar water event profiles, at least one water event profile signature with a first water consumer and associates a second water event profile signature with a second water consumer, and stores the water event profile signatures for the first water consumer and the second water consumer. The system constructs current water event profiles reflecting subsequent water usage in the distributed water infrastructure, and attributes a first current water event profile to the first water consumer and attributes a second current water event profile to the second water consumer.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CONTINUOUS MONITORING OF A MEDICAL CONDITION IN PATIENTS
The present invention describes methods and systems to enable a concerned party to continuously monitor the progression of a medical condition in one or more patients. The progression of the medical condition is determined by processing sensor data obtained from one or more physiological and/or motion sensors and survey data obtained from the patients. Further, environmental data such as air quality, temperature and humidity may also be used along with the sensor data and the survey data to monitor/track the progression of the medical condition.
Methods of Enhancing Cognition and Systems for Practicing the Same
Provided are methods that include presenting to a subject an embodied cognitive task that includes a cognitive component and a physical component. The methods further include assessing the subject's performance on each of the cognitive component and the physical component, and adapting the difficulty level of the embodied cognitive task based on the subject's performance on each of the cognitive component and the physical component. In certain aspects, the methods find use in enhancing cognition, physical fitness, or both, in a subject. Also provided are methods of treating and diagnosing cognitive disorders. Systems and computer readable media for practicing the methods of the present disclosure are also provided.
