The surgical instrument navigation system includes: a surgical instrument; an imaging device which is operable to capture scan data representative of an internal region of interest within a given patient; a tracking subsystem that employs electro-magnetic sensing to capture in real-time position data indicative of the position of the surgical instrument; a data processor which is operable to render a volumetric, perspective image of the internal region of interest from a point of view of the surgical instrument; and a display which is operable to display the volumetric perspective image of the patient.

Non-Invasive Assessment Of Glymphatic Flow And Neurodegeneration From A Wearable Device

A computer-implemented method and system includes accessing neurophysiological and neurovascular data recorded during sleep. A function mapping is executed from said neurophysiological and neurovascular data to a target that is one of a glymphatic flow marker, a molecular analysis marker of neurodegeneration, or a neuroimaging marker of neurodegeneration. A target prediction model is output based on the function mapping. The target prediction model can receive new neurophysiological and neurovascular data and output a predicted marker of neurodegeneration.

Synthesis and composition of non-amino acid linking groups conjugated to compounds used for the targeted imaging of tumors

The present disclosure relates to compounds that are useful as near-infrared fluorescence probes, wherein the compounds include i) a pteroyl ligand that binds to a target receptor protein, ii) a dye molecule, and iii) a linker molecule that comprises an amino acid or derivative thereof. The disclosure further describes methods and compositions for incorporating the compounds as used for the targeted imaging of tumors. Conjugation of the amino acid linking groups increase specificity and detection of the compound. Methods and compositions for use thereof in diagnostic imaging are contemplated.

Also, found are a novel indocyanine compound in which a hydrophobic moiety in a near-infrared fluorescent indocyanine molecule is included in a cavity of a cyclic sugar chain cyclodextrin to cover the hydrophobic moiety in the indocyanine molecule with the glucose, and a synthesis method and a purification method thereof. Furthermore, found are a method for fluorescence-imaging an organ other than liver by intravenous administration, a method for evaluating biokinetics of the novel indocyanine compound, a device for measuring biokinetics, and a method and a device for visualizing circulation of fluid such as blood in a living body, utilizing the diagnostic composition including the novel indocyanine compound.

Interventional catheter assemblies, control systems and operating methods

An interventional catheter assembly has an operating head and catheter system that are inserted and navigated within a patient's body while an operator controls the system externally of the operating head. An operating head is positioned at or near a distal end of the catheter system and coupled to a drive shaft and drive system for rotation. A guidewire brake control system interrupt prevents the drive system from being actuated when the guidewire brake is in a released position, and a selectable guidewire brake interrupt override control permits an operator to translate and/or rotate the drive shaft and operating head while the guidewire is simultaneously moved. This allows withdrawal of the guide wire and the operating head from the target site while rotating the operating head.

Fluorescence detection device

A fluorescence detection device comprises: a plurality of light sources that apply an excitation light from an outside of a living body toward fluorescent dye previously injected into the living body; and a plurality of detectors that detect fluorescence emitted from the fluorescent dye by the excitation light, and output the detected fluorescence as an electric signal. The plurality of light sources and the plurality of detectors are arranged in at least one line. At least one detector is placed between two light sources, and at least one light source is placed between two detectors.

Methods of using optical agents

In certain aspects, the invention relates to processes for using renally excretable optical agents to detect one or more tissues of the renal system of a surgical patient. In certain aspects, the invention relates to a kit including a biocompatible composition containing one or more optical agents and instructions for using the optical agent(s) in a process of the present invention.

20180333095 · 2018-11-22 ·

Disclosed are systems and methods of lymphatic specimen tracking, visualization, and lymph node drainage pathway determination. An exemplary method includes receiving computed tomographic (CT) image data corresponding to a CT scan, generating a three-dimensional (3D) model of at least a portion of a patient's body based on the CT image data, identifying one or more lymph nodes in the 3D model, performing a registration of the 3D model with one or more physical locations in the patient's body, determining an expected lymph node drainage pathway away from a region of interest through one or more lymph nodes, and displaying the 3D model and the expected lymph node drainage pathway.

APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR SPATIAL ENCODING OF FFL-BASED MPI DEVICES
20180335487 · 2018-11-22 ·

Selection-focus coils de-signed for 3D FFL-based MPI may allow for spatial encoding without additional shift coils and provide relatively large FOV and field gradient with very flat FFL. Additionally, a single-sided FFL-based device which is capable of 3D imaging is disclosed. With sufficient current amplitudes, FFL could encode the whole volume of a small animal or penetrate deep into human organs such as the vascular system or lymph nodes. An MPI device based on the proposed selection scheme could be a compact and robust alternative to the state-of-the-art FFP (FFL)-based MPI scanners.
