Anal fixation device

Anorectal diagnostic procedures are oftentimes carried out with the patient laying in the left decubitus position, which leads to non-representative response to test maneuvers due to the unnatural position and patient anxiety. Devices spanning, or fastened on, the interglutial cleft of a patient allow for a more natural patient position and eliminate non-representative responses.

REAL-TIME STIMULATION ARTIFACT SUPPRESSION FOR SIMULTANEOUS ELECTROPHYSIOLOGICAL ELECTRICAL STIMULATION AND RECORDING

A system and method of suppressing stimulation artifacts when performing electrophysiological electrical stimulation and recording. An artifact waveform is captured associated with a stimulus output, and then the artifact waveform calibrated during another stimulus output for accurately representing the actual artifact waveform received within each measured response to a stimulus. During actual stimulus generation and response recording, the calibrated artifact waveform is subtracted in at least one of the amplifier stages so that the artifacts are removed from the amplified response to the stimulus thus providing an accurate output without saturating the amplifiers.

Systems and methods are provided for neuro stimulation. In one implementation, a system is provided that includes a stimulator introduced into tissue at a target location and a central controller that communicates wirelessly with the stimulator. The stimulator includes a power system that receives wireless energy transmission, and an electrode system that transmits an electrical pulse for stimulating the target location. The central controller includes a power system that wirelessly delivers power to the stimulator, a communication system that wirelessly communicates with the stimulator, and a processing system that controls the power system and the communication system. The central controller may instruct the stimulator to transmit one or more electrical pulses to the target location to affect an endocrine function (e.g., affect the glucose level of a patient).

Predicting response to therapy for adult and pediatric crohn's disease using radiomic features of mesenteric fat regions on baseline magnetic resonance enterography

Embodiments discussed herein facilitate predicting response to therapy in Crohn's disease. A first set of embodiments discussed herein relates to accessing a radiological image of a region of tissue demonstrating Crohn's disease associated with a patient; defining a mesenteric fat region by segmenting mesenteric fat represented in the radiological image; extracting a set of radiomic features from the mesenteric fat region; providing the set of radiomic features to a machine learning classifier configured to compute a probability of response to therapy in Crohn's disease based, at least in part, on the set of radiomic features; receiving, from the machine learning classifier, a probability that the region of tissue will respond to therapy; generating a classification of the patient as a responder or non-responder based, at least in part, on the probability; and displaying the classification.

System and method for boundary classification and automatic polyp detection

A system and method is provided for automated polyp detection in optical colonoscopy images. The system includes an input configured to acquire a series of optical images, and a processor configured to process the optical images. Processing steps include performing a boundary classification with steps comprising locating a series of edge pixels using at least one acquired optical image, selecting an image patch around each said edge pixel, performing a classification threshold analysis on each image patch of said edge pixels using a set of determined boundary classifiers, and identifying, based on the classification threshold analysis, polyp edge pixels consistent with a polyp edge. Processing steps for the processor also include performing a vote accumulation, using the identified polyp edge pixels, to determine a polyp location. The system also includes an output configured to indicate potential polyps using the determined polyp location.

Using an oximeter probe to detect intestinal ischemia

Devices and systems have a sensor probe configured to measure tissue oxygen saturation in the intestine or mesentery. The devices and systems can determine the oxygenation state of the entire thickness of the intestine or mesentery. Embodiments of the invention also include methods for inducing a temporary ischemic period in an intestine or mesentery tissue and analyzing changes in oxygen saturation of the tissue during the temporary ischemic period or during a recovery phase. The devices, systems, and methods can be applied in diagnosing intestinal ischemia in a patient, as well as in monitoring tissue oxygen saturation of the intestine or mesentery during or after a surgical procedure.

A system is provided for differentiating between water usage of multiple water consumers using a common distributed water infrastructure. The system receives from a water sensor that is upstream of a plurality of appliances, signals indicative of water usage, and constructs from the signals a plurality of water event profile signatures. The system associates, based on differences between similar water event profiles, at least one water event profile signature with a first water consumer and associates a second water event profile signature with a second water consumer, and stores the water event profile signatures for the first water consumer and the second water consumer. The system constructs current water event profiles reflecting subsequent water usage in the distributed water infrastructure, and attributes a first current water event profile to the first water consumer and attributes a second current water event profile to the second water consumer.
