DEVICE FOR SHAPING AND CUTTING A BONE GRAFT

A device for shaping and cutting a bone graft comprises a main body (2) extending along a longitudinal axis (X) from a lower end (2i) to an upper end (2s) and having inside it a housing (3) for the insertion of the bone graft (100) to be shaped, an upper opening (4), located at the upper end (2s), for the insertion of the bone graft (100) into the housing (3), a lower support (5) designed to support the bone graft and an upper surface (6) defining a cutting plane, placed at the upper end (2s) and containing said upper opening (4) which is inclined with respect to the longitudinal axis (X) by an angle (a) ranging between 90° and 30°, preferably between 90° and 60°.

MEDICAL INSTRUMENT HAVING A BALL BEARING OR SLIDING BEARING AS A GENERATOR
20230270449 · 2023-08-31 ·

A medical, motor-operated or hand-operated or operable instrument includes a number of bearings for supporting a shaft for applying torque to a tool, of which bearings at least two selected or selectable bearings form a bearing pair. A distance sleeve axially spaces apart the bearings of the bearing pair. The instrument includes a component located at least partly radially inside the distance sleeve. The component is or can be rotationally coupled to at least one of the two bearings to rotate together with a rotating part of the at least one of the two bearings, or to form a rotating part of the at least one of the two bearings. At least one permanent magnet is fastened or formed on or in the component. A coil is arranged on or in the distance sleeve.

TARGETED TORQUE RELIEF FOR TORQUE-BASED INSTRUMENTS

The present disclosure provides medical instruments and medical instrument components having targeted torsional failure. Such targeted torsional failure helps prevent a surgeon from applying excessive torque that may damage an implant or bone, and also helps avoid the problems and complications that arise when medical instruments break within patients during surgical procedures. To provide such targeted torsional failure, the disclosed medical instrument components include a breakaway section designed so that the component breaks at a desired amount of torque, at a desired location, and in a desired way. The provided medical instrument components may also include a sleeve to increase side-loading strength that may otherwise be reduced due to the breakaway section. The increased side-loading strength may help prevent accidental bending-type failures. The presently disclosed medical instrument component therefore provides targeted torsional failure without sacrificing side-loading strength.

SURGICAL SYSTEM INCLUDING POWERED ROTARY-TYPE HANDPIECE

A surgical system which may include a controller, a data entry device, a powered surgical handpiece and a surgical tool adapted to couple to the surgical handpiece. The surgical handpiece can include motor direction control and feedback, safety stop features, stimulation and nerve integrity monitoring, a tool connector assembly configured to retain a variety of surgical tools and optional navigation and/or electric ratcheting features.

PIN PLACEMENT HOLDER FOR SURGICAL PIN DRIVER
20220151672 · 2022-05-19 · ·

A surgical device for pin insertion in a bone of a subject to aid in performing a bone cutting procedure is provided that includes a drive portion configured to drive a pin for insertion into the bone. The drive portion has a pin drive assembly with a shaft having a shaft proximal end. At least one magnet is associated with the shaft proximal end adapted for attraction and retention of the pin in the shaft proximal end. A spindle assembly is adapted to drive the shaft so as to rotate the pin into the bone to a degree of bone retention that overcomes the attraction and the retention of the pin in the shaft proximal end. An alignment system for surgical bone cutting procedures inclusive of the same is also provided along with a method for aligning a cutting guide on a subject's bone.

Surgical Drill With Telescoping Member

A surgical drill for use with a drill bit. The drill includes a handpiece with a motor and a brake mechanism. The brake mechanism is a sliding rack adjacent a first end and a second end with a stop adjacent the drill bit. An actuator is mounted to the handpiece and a plunger is coupled to the actuator. A sensor asserts a signal when the drill bit penetrates bone. When the sensor asserts the signal indicting the drill bit penetrated bone, the actuator moves the plunger into engagement with the rack to prevent further insertion of the drill bit.

Surgical Saw Blade Cartridge And Coupler Therefor

A saw blade cartridge comprises a saw blade and a cassette. The cassette is disposed over a proximal portion of the saw blade and includes first and second cassette portions opposing each other across the proximal portion. Each portion comprises a shell and a damper. The shells are of a first stiffness and have an outer side. The dampers are of a second stiffness less than the first stiffness and are disposed on an inner side of the shell. The cassette portions are substantially fixed relative to the proximal portion and are substantially aligned with each other. The shells are fixed to each other. The dampers contact the proximal portion. A handpiece coupler for engaging either of the saw blade cartridge or a saw blade includes a release button with a lock button slidably disposed therein to resist unintended opening.
