ELECTROSURGICAL GENERATOR CONTROL USING DYNAMIC PROCESS VARIABLES
An electrosurgical system includes an RF output stage configured to impart RF power between first and second electrodes; measurement circuitry measures current and voltage imparted between the first and second electrodes; a processing circuit calculates power and impedance, based upon the measured current and the measured voltage; the processing circuitry uses a proportional-integral-derivative control loop to control RF power imparted between the electrodes, based upon a selected one of the measured current, the measured voltage, calculated power, and the calculated impedance.
Ablation probe systems
An ablation probe tip 100 having a shaft 102 with an insertion end 104 and an annular aperture 120 near the insertion end 104. A center of ablation 124 is located within the shaft 102 and surrounded by the annular aperture shaft 102. The ablation probe tip 100 may be part of an ablation probe system 50 that includes an ablation source 60 that provides ablation means 62 to the ablation probe tip 100. The center of ablation 124 is a focal region from which the ablation means 62 radiates through the annular aperture 120 to form an ablation zone 150, 160, 170. The system 50 has at least one intra-operative control selected from the group of: ablation zone positioning control, ablation zone shaping control, ablation center control, ablation zone temperature control, guided ablation volume/diameter control, and power loading control.
Compositions and methods for treating cardiac injury
This invention is directed to compositions and methods for treating a condition of the heart. In an embodiment, the invention is directed to a method of treating a subject in need thereof, wherein the method comprises ablating at least one nerve of the renal artery of the subject; and administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of cells.
ENDOSCOPE DEVICE AND ENDOSCOPE SYSTEM
An endoscope device includes: a light source capable of switching an optical spectrum of illumination light; an imaging device configured to acquire an image by receiving reflection light of the illumination light; an image processor configured to determine whether or not visibility deterioration has occurred within a visual field of the image acquisition section due to a fragment of a calculus crushed by being irradiated with a laser beam from a laser pulse generator; and a controller configured to control the light source based on a determination result obtained by the image processor. The controller causes the light source to emit white light as the illumination light in response to the image processor determining that the visibility deterioration has not occurred, and switches the illumination light emitted from the light source to light in a blue region in response to the image processor determining that the visibility deterioration has occurred.
NOVEL 'ELECTRICAL LEAK DETECTION SYSTEM' TO DETECT ABNORMAL CONDUCTION WITHIN A CATHETER IN THE PRESENCE OF ELECTRICAL INTERFERERS
A system, method and leak signal discriminator for detection of a leak or mechanical breach in a catheter shaft in the presence of an electrical interferer are disclosed. According to one aspect, a leak signal discriminator having a leak detection circuit is configured to distinguish between a leak signal arising from a leak in a catheter and an interfering signal arising from an electrical interferer. The leak signal discriminator includes circuitry configured to receive from the leak detection circuit a response signal responsive to a test signal the test signal having component signals, each component signal being at a different frequency, and distinguish between a leak and an electrical interferer based at least in part on an evaluation of the response signal
METHOD FOR ENERGY DISTRIBUTION IN A SURGICAL MODULAR ENERGY SYSTEM
A method of operating a modular surgical system including a control module, a first surgical module, and a second surgical module is disclosed. The method includes detachably connecting the first surgical module to the control module by stacking the first surgical module with the control module in a stack configuration, detachably connecting the second surgical module to the first surgical module by stacking the second surgical module with the control module and the first surgical module in the stack configuration, powering up the modular surgical system, and monitoring distribution of power from a power supply of the control module to the first surgical module and the second surgical module.
Methods for Controlling Cooperative Surgical Instruments
Systems, devices, and methods for controlling cooperative surgical instruments are provided. Various aspects of the present disclosure provide for coordinated operation of surgical instruments accessing various surgical sites from different or shared surgical approaches to achieve a common or cooperative surgical purpose. For example, various methods, devices, and systems disclosed herein can enable the coordinated treatment of tissue by disparate minimally invasive surgical systems that approach the tissue from varying anatomical spaces and must operate differently, but in concert with, one another to effect a desired surgical treatment.
SURGICAL DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS USING MULTI-SOURCE IMAGING
In general, devices, systems, and methods for multi-source imaging are provided.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR REMOVAL OF SKIN PIGMENTATION AND TATTOO INK
Methods and apparatus for dermatological laser treatment, e.g. for the removal of unwanted tattoos or other skin pigmentation. Removal of multiple colors with a single pulsed laser beam may be achieved using intensities in excess of about 50 GB/cm.sup.2. Methods for reducing the pain and tissue damage associated with laser tattoo removal include using a spot size of less than 2 mm with a fluence in the range of 0.5-10 J/cm.sup.2. Scanning the laser beam over an area of skin to be treated allows such areas to be treated accurately with scanning patterns calculated to promote rapid dissipation of heat away from treated portions of the skin. Multiple treatment rooms may be served by a single pulsed treatment laser by beam toggling, splitting or pulse-picking to minimise downtime of the laser.
Battery assemblies and control methods thereof
A battery assembly includes a battery pack configured to supply energy to a load having a required energy, a housing enclosing the battery pack therein, a converter configured to convert an internal energy of the battery pack, and a controller configured to adjust a parameter of the converter based on information received from the load via a communication interface such that the converter converts the internal energy to the energy required by the load, wherein the converted internal energy is supplied to the load as the supplied energy.
