Ultrasonic Cutting Tip for Lumbar Procedures
An ultrasonic tip and methods of operating the same. The ultrasonic tip comprises a shaft including a base and a flexible body. The body comprises a first portion and a second portion. The body is coupled to the base at the first portion and extends from the first portion to the second portion along a longitudinal axis. The second portion includes a cutting portion comprising a neck, and a head extending radially from the longitudinal axis. The head is coupled to the neck. A circular aperture is disposed between the head and the neck to define an inner circumferential surface. The head and the neck form an outer circumferential surface comprising a plurality of cutting teeth, the outer circumferential surface having a first thickness at the head that is greater than a second thickness at the neck.
ELECTROENCEPHALOGRAM MEASURING APPARATUS
An electroencephalogram measuring apparatus includes: a first electrode that is to be placed in a first position of a head of a subject; a second electrode that is to be placed in a second position of the subject; and a body supporting at least the first electrode, and having a portion that is to be held by a hand of a user.
Battery and electronics integration in a flexible implantable medical device
An encapsulation configuration for electronic components in a flexible implantable medical device, including at least one set of folded circuit boards and a filler material, the set of folded circuit boards including a plurality of circuit boards and a plurality of connection cables, each one of the circuit boards including at least one electronics component, each one of the circuit boards having a generally rectangular shape, the connection cables electrically coupling adjacent ones of the circuit boards and the circuit boards being folded over one another in a pleated manner, the filler material surrounding the set of folded circuit boards, the filler material and the set of folded circuit boards together having a cylindrical shape, the set of folded circuit boards being positioned lengthwise in the cylindrical shape and the electronics component being positioned on the set of folded circuit boards to achieve optimal volume consumption in the electronics encapsulation.
PEN
The invention refers to a pen with a shaft, a gripping zone, and a measuring device having a sensor, the measuring device measuring a force acting on the gripping zone. According to the invention, a cover is provided in the area of the gripping zone, said cover covering the measuring device on the outside.
Pen like device for detecting cancerous cells during surgery
A pen like device for contactless imaging of the electrical conductivity of a target tissue during a surgery to different between cancerous cells and normal cells. The device operation is based on the principal of conductivity imaging by a magnetic induction. The device has a cylindrical transmitter coil and two receiver coils that are wound on a cylindrical rod of an electrically insulating material. The measured contactless conductivity through a non-electrically conductive wall of the device's body is displayed on a rotatable screen to help surgeons to make immediate decisions during a surgery.
Interface sizing tool and method
A method and apparatus can be used in the selection of correctly sized respiratory interfaces. The method includes the use of light beams to project sizing markers onto a patient's face, which enables the size of the patient's facial features to be measured relative to a set of interface sizes. A sizing apparatus can include a light source and beam splitters that will refract and project the light source into a series of beams that can be aligned on a patient's face in order to measure the features of the patient.
JUGULAR VENOUS PRESSURE MEASUREMENT DEVICES
The present disclosure provides a device for measuring the jugular venous pressure of a patient. The device comprises a body defining a longitudinal enclosure and having a window along a length of the longitudinal enclosure to allow light to exit the longitudinal enclosure, a beam generator comprising a moveable portion mounted within the longitudinal enclosure, the beam generator configured to generate a sheet of light along a plane perpendicular to a longitudinal direction and at an adjustable position along the longitudinal direction, and direct the sheet of light out the window, an adjustment mechanism for adjusting the position of the moveable portion of the beam generator relative to the body along the longitudinal direction, and, a readout indicating the position of the sheet of light along the longitudinal direction.
System and method for determining structural characteristics of an object
The present invention relates generally to a system and method for measuring the structural characteristics of an object. The object is subjected to an energy application processes and provides an objective, quantitative measurement of structural characteristics of an object. The system may include a device, for example, a percussion instrument, capable of being reproducibly placed against the object undergoing such measurement for reproducible positioning. The system does not include an external on/off switch or any remote on/off switching mechanism. The system also includes a disposable feature or assembly for minimizing cross-contamination between tests. The structural characteristics as defined herein may include vibration damping capacities, acoustic damping capacities, structural integrity or structural stability.
Device for determining an intraocular pressure of an eye
A device for determining an intraocular pressure of an eye is disclosed. The device comprises; (a) a housing; (b) a plunger axially movable within the housing, a first end of the plunger having a tip for contacting the eye; (c) an indicator arm operatively connected to a second end of the plunger; (d) a measurement gauge for indicating the intraocular pressure of the eye; and (e) a resilient biasing member for biasing the plunger towards an extended position in which the plunger tip protrudes beyond the housing and the indicator arm is biased towards a first position on the measurement gauge. Applying pressure to the eye via the plunger tip causes the intraocular pressure of the eye to exert an opposing force on the plunger tip causing the plunger to retract into the housing to cause a reciprocal movement of the indicator arm towards a second position thereby indicating the intraocular pressure of the eye on the measurement gauge.
